Feel the hype about this lad is driven by our lack of activity. His lack of match time indicates that he's far from ready and is more likely to be at the standard of our development players rather than a squad player, nevermind the starting 11
Is he gauraunteed to start for us all season?

No, especially as we're reportedly looking at more experienced CB's in addition to him, hence the Godfrey link.

Would he start for us if he was able to against Swansea? Yes

But last night was a Champions League game, and while he might not be ready for CL, he might be more suited to the Championship than we think.

This is pretty much done now. We need so much more though 😩 Time for the owners to step up and back their man or this season could be a disaster.
Do we know when he'll be ready for Championship football given he doesn't start in Sweden?! 2026? 2027? 🤣

This isn't slagging him off but even from the highlights packages he looks very raw. Aggressive and front footed which is good but he can't come straight into the XI. Can he?

Oh he can 100% walk into this starting 11!
Is he ready to though? Who knows.
It'd be nice to bring the experienced, older, leader type in before this lad, but beggers can't ve choosers.

If he comes in by himself, I already feel a bit for the kid.

There's a very strong chance that we sell Robinson, sign Zatterstrom and the youngsters thrown straight into the XI either side of Burrows and an inexperienced (at T2 level) Bindon.
It could be a real baptism of fire for him.

I really like the look of the signing, but he needs to be viewed as our No.3/4 CB and somebody to develop.
We need to sign 2 on top of this.
I'd really like an older experienced head.(Mephan / Dawson / Mee) and a guy in his prime with EFL expeirence (Doyle / Hughes).

Is Mepham still knocking about?

By the looks of it we need two solid war horse types (Tanganga, Mepham). Some leadership like Egan (Might not be the best example), youth like Hughes.
Jamal Lascelles
Wily Boly
James Hill
Emil Krafth
Issa Kabore
Aaron Hickey

Some players I'd be looking at to add flexibility and leadership influence.

With the state of the team and lack of leadership would it be better to go for Pontus Jansson?
I see the need for an experienced and commanding centre half, but one of the requirements, certainly in a defence with Bindon and Burrows, is pace...

We can't think Malmö's fourth choice centre back is going to fix our problems though.

Spot on … Mepham is surely an absolute no-brainer signing plus a couple more experienced and solid defenders.

Touched on this in SB but we need to be careful about the clamour for an experienced player, from a team dynamics point of view. It's nuanced but there's an argument to say that a team full of younger lads can create a better dynamic than having too many big leaders. It's why I'm uncomfortable with having JLT stinking the place out at the moment, he doesn't look like he's buying into the new culture and that can be dangerous with younger lads looking to him for leadership.

I've probably not explained this brilliantly tbh. I'm not against having an experienced CB come in at all - but we need to ensure they're completely on board with how Sellés wants to do things. We often hear the term 'culture carrier' but it might be more important than ever. It's why I'd prefer us to go and spend good money on Hughes - he knows how Sellés works and clearly benefitted from it personally. That's the type of leader we might well need.

The issue may be more about getting and keeping the wage bill down than any such considerations?

The thought had crossed my mind. I hope its not the case and we do some good business in the last two weeks of the window. I am beginning to wonder though. Something just doesn't seem right at the club at the moment. Don't know why and I have no knowledge of anything. I just have an uneasy feeling about it.

Good point well made. A leader doesn't necessarily need to be an old head (although experience can help). As an example, I think Blaster could be a future captain.

This guy should be being signed as Bindon’s replacement when he leaves next summer not Anel or Robinson’s replacement for this season. Now doing that in advance now when we have the chance is good forward planning but only if starting replacements are brought in alongside

I’m sure we’ll get players in but everything so far suggests we’re cutting our cloth for life without parachute payments and with (hopefully) a shot at the play offs as our best hope.
