I get what Nixon is saying to be fair. He's not nailed a place down in the Allsvenskan - the league that Benie Traore scored 12 goals in 14 games - the Championship is a huge step up.

I know it's where Anel came from, but he also had two seasons as a regular starter and a year in Ligue 1.
Using Traore as a marker when he never played in the championship is abit disingenuous no?

Yes, it would make the most sense and in an ideal world, we'd get both and a right back, right winger and a better back-up keeper this week too.
Let's see how much cash we have to spend and what ends up transpiring.
Godfrey can also play right back, which may be part of the attraction. He’s also covered left back for Everton.

From York as well. Not sure if you mentioned.

Of course, saw him play but he was midfielder in those days.

I am aware of his positions, I have recorded a video ready for release later with all the positions he has played in across his career #versatile.

Now you’ve reminded me Benie scored 12 in that league I’m not sure we should be signing defenders from there.

Just looking, his Atalanta career is bizarre.

He didn’t start a single game.

He was involved in 5 matches. 4 wins and 1 defeat. The aggregate scoreline of those matches was 19-4. The defeat was 0-2 away to Real Madrid!

Not sure where he’s gone wrong!

He missed 4 games theough injured. Otherwise he was Mr Unused Sub.

Everton paid 25m for him 5 years ago. He’s only 27. Personally I don’t feel it’s a big ask to play top end Championship.

He has 115 Prem games under his belt as well.

I haven’t seen him last season but even so. He comes with a lot of good experience.

Just on Godfrey - I was going to comment saying you can't be such a bad player if you have played that many games in top flight... However:
  • I think this was during Evertons really poor seasons with relelgation battles?
  • Dele Alli had lots of top flight games and look at him now
  • Did his athelticism benefit him in his early 20s and has this started to leave him?
Its a bit risky given how little he has played recently, but could be another good 'loan with an option' if he does recapture his early career form.

Played 31 games in 2020/21 and they finished 10th, he then played 23, 13 & 15 and they finished 16th, 17th & 15th so you could argue the less he played the worse they got

Thats probably why we are in for him - thats the stats our AI machine has honed in on 😂
I like that analogy “The AI Machine”.

It reminds me of the show “Person of Interest” which starred Jim Cavizel and that bloke that was in lost.

Anyway they have a machine which spits out a name and that person will either be the victim or perpetrator of a crime.

So I love the idea of the Scouts sat there having a brew and “The Machine” spits out Young Woo Seol.

Off they go to watch him. The Machine has spoken!

When you are more settled as a side in what ever division that might be, it is easier to put investment into one basket such as consistent permanent signings. The problem with us "yo-yoing" is that when we are in the Prem, there is the threat of relegation so you don't really want to chuck the £100 million plus that you need to even slightly compete but then that becomes counter productive as when you drop into the Championship you "settle" for top end Championship players, this usually means we have a side capable of going up again and we end up in the same cycle. Now we have had the wage and lengthy contract cull of the squad needs to be developed. The loan market is perfect for us however it can leave us short when we don't have an option to buy or decide not to take up the option. We haven't really looked at any frees recently either. The squad is ok however you do feel it needs to bulk up a bit on the numbers front

godfrey is twice the player mason holgate is cant understand all the negative comments about him on here him and the young swedish lad would be good business and might even enable us to keep jlt on the bench where he should be

As you've mentioned Dele Alli (slightly strangely), thought I'd mention he was one of England's best players for a couple of years. Mental health scuppered his success. BUT HE IS AVAILABLE AGAIN, PROBABLY FOR FREE... 🤩🫣

Does anyone know if he's good at all? My worry is the lack of experience in the backline now, especially if Robinson leaves. Albeit ability is more important (As Burnley showed last year with their young defence).

Burnley still had some very experienced defenders at the club to help the youngsters develop…. Egan for one.

I'd be very surprised if he's upper championship quality, personally. He can't get into his domestic team, even though they often play 3 CBs (and their best defender is a 34 year old Pontus Jansson).

That's my worry. Huge risk if we dont back this up with a proven centre back alongside him.
