1. Depends whether you mean generally or in the context of the thread. If he were to leave for Sunderland, I wouldn't lose much sleep over it, put it that way. In terms of a general dismissal, he's not there yet but it's certainly getting on towards it. All the talk of his past is completely redundant, i'll judge him on what he does for my football club and thus far he's come across as a bag of hot air that struck lucky with a team full of future England internationals sitting in the Southampton academy. What would we be saying if Parkinson had gone about things the way Adkins has? I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be posters with metaphorical pitchforks at the ready, waiting to pounce on anyone that dared criticise him, and dare I say there'd be a few calling for him out. Does the history of an individual all of a sudden swoop in and put an extra 3 points to our name every time we lose? You can consider one's achievements when selecting a manager, granted, as you'd be right to think that a more achieving manager will more than likely to go on and achieve more with your club. But when that manager does everything he can to go against that prediction, and quite shockingly makes some of the most basic of management errors, it's quite easy to conclude his supposed history has gone out the window.

2. I wouldn't put a name on the manager I'd appoint, as that's really not feasible from a hypothetical stand point, but a manager that grasps the most basic of recruitment would be a start, and better than what we have seen so far. I wouldn't say we'd have to push the boat out too far to find that attribute, and isn't that telling of how our current manager has gone about things? An old school, no-nonsense, "you're getting bollocked if you fail to show any passion or grit" type manager would do wonders for the soft-centred ethos we seemed to have imposed. A shared realisation of quite how much the squad needs to change to succeed would also be a preferred requirement. Along with a pre-agreed sense of priority positions with regards to transfers in to the club. Something the board might have missed off their interview check list perhaps?

So for the record that's..

1. Yes
2. No

BB, I think you are being far too harsh on NA. He has clearly inherited a team that has proven to be nge for league 1.
You can only really judge him when he has had the chance to mould his own team. You cannot simply change the personnel over night, It will take 2 seasons at least. Also look where changing the manager too often has got us up to now - NOWHERE!
Ffs give the guy more than 11 games please ! If we are in a mess come Feb then I could possibly understand some of your comments.

Always worth keeping the most cuntish bits, for future reference.

Begining to think Adkins is another YES man .................. season ticket money in the bank then .........................

1/ Told to sell Murphy
2/ Brings in Woolford as a replacement
3/ Spends a half a million on Sharp to placate the fans
4/ The board pocket a million
5/ Adkins says we tried but ................. as deadline day deals fail
6/ Loan window opens soon he says but ........................... we tried but other clubs won't release players excuse comes out
7/ He says better to buy players in the JTW
8/ Getting injured players back means recruiting is no longer urgent excuse comes out.
9/ And the same mistakes carry on and on and on and on
10 Same owd same owd

The International League for Weary And Numerous Clichés [ILWANC] is about to announce its prestigious lifetime achievement award....

1 - As said previously, what's the benefit of an attacking side if the same awful results are being produced? Not sure about you but i'm more concerned about results and points than anything else.

2 - Wrongly as first priority. Again that mistake has cost us just as much if not more than Billy's scoring has profited us. So that cancels out, at least.

3 - If you call 8 points from top and 5 from automatic after only 11 (12?) games then more fool you I suppose. I call it getting left behind at such an early stage by a bunch of miniatures.

4 - Has he? Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't once heard him say "Sorry, I got it wrong" or similar.

5 - Again, isn't this supposed positivity drowned out by the failings on the pitch? I would say the dissapointment of the fans at least matches the positivity, if not surpassea it as results have been worsening. Exactly how it should be, they have that right as paying customers.

6 - You missed the 'not' in between the 'way' abd 'to'. More than 2 months and past the start of the season, being forced to sign a centre back due to an absolute demolition at the hands of Gillingham? Sorry but I can't even take this one seriously.

7 - Isn't the last ditch panic from shocking results more than cancelled out by the failure in the 2 months previous?

A fair bit of clutching at straws and wishy washiness going on there I think.

1 – Personally, I find it much more entertaining. Instead hanging on by our fingernails to a 1-0 lead, every win this season has been by 2 clear goals. It also gives me hope and encouragement that we will improve especially as good players that have been missing like Done and Brayford get involved.

2 – You have no idea what his priorities were and are just jumping to assumptions to suit your argument. There’s a lot more than just NA involved in the recruitment process. We’ve proven time and time again that we only seem to be able to get deals over the line if the player is a mate of the manager, chairman, director etc. (Brayford, Sharp, Kitson, Sammon, Woolford, Davies, Freeman etc).

3 – The truth probably lies somewhere in between our comments. We’re certainly not where we want to be but we’re far from out of it. Another 4 game winning run like we had after Gillingham would probably see us back in the top 2.

4 – After the Bury game he said he had to question his own decisions as he put McNulty on to go for a winner and we lost the game trying to win it. After Sharp tried to blame himself for Colchester, Adkins said it wasn’t down to Sharp, it was down to him. You clearly haven’t been paying attention.

5 – Recent performances and results have been disappointing admittedly. However, anyone with a bit of realism and common sense will know you don’t judge an extremely accomplished manager with an excellent track record based on him not being able to magically fix a car crash of a club with a massive amount of deadwood, that have sold his best player and with all his other best players injured in a period of 4 months.

6 – Sorry Barny but now it is I who cannot take you seriously. Adkins talked openly about talks to bring in a centre half long before the Gills game and immediately before the game said talks were at an advanced stage but they couldn’t quite get it done in time for that game. Again, you haeven’t been paying attention or you’re just deliberately making things up to suit your argument. Which is it?

7 – I seem to recall we were on a 4 game winning run and 2nd in the league when we tried to sign the 2 in question. That doesn’t seem like panic due to shocking results at all but proactive management seeing the weaknesses even whilst things looked good and trying to do something about it. Unfortunately, those above him don’t seem to be nearly so proactive.

A fair bit of making things up that blatantly aren’t true to try to discredit our manager going on there I think.

I think the main problem is your lack of understanding of the manager’s role in recruitment and your failure to appreciate the human and man management elements of football management. It’s not like FIFA Career Mode you know.

Metal, you call him a yes man but what you’ve described is a manager who has been let down by his board. Was Bassett a yes man because he had Deane sold from under him and could only replace him with Jostein Flo (despite wanting Tore Andre)? The only way to not be a yes man is to resign when your board let’s you down. The only 2 that have done that are Bruce and Spackman. They’re hardly revered in these parts with a lot calling them traitors etc. (especially Bruce).

This is no place for reasoned argument Dane. This is a place for people to be deliberately argumentative, safe in the knowledge nobody need ever know what they really think, or indeed who they are.

Move along.

Perhaps he said 'No' but they still happened?

Just because they did happen doesn't make him a 'Yes man'.

I prefer to call Spackman fucking useless, rather than traitor. He never lasted a full season with any of the three clubs he "managed" in his brief and failed excursion into management. Yet people still mention him every time we have a vacancy.

Only in S2....
