Who is the gaffer to come in and sort the mess out?

Rohl with Wilder as DOF would just be so funny, so I’ve gone with that.

I’d rather we got someone new - but given that I wanted Selles, I don’t think I’m well placed to be making suggestions on who the next gaffer should be!

I was under the impression that Rohl won’t consider it?

I don’t want Wilder back, I think it would genuinely make us even more of a laughing stock than we already are.

That said, I’ll have him back over keeping Selles.

Out of the people who are available, Dyche is probably the stand-out candidate; and I’d much rather him than Wilder.

I don’t believe for one minute Wilder would return with Rohl as manager

It’ll be a quick appointment once Selles has gone, two frontrunners…
Anyone who can sort out the mess that has been left by Selles.A strong manager that can bring the dressing room together. We need a winning mindset in the dugout fast

Wilder as DoF would be terrifying. Unchecked access to transfer funds, but none of the benefits of his man management?
Yeah the idea of Wilder as DoF is complete nonsense coming from people who don't understand what the role entails.

He’d only be appropriate in a head coach role were we to switch to having a DoF.

Why does it need to be a quick appointment? Surely we can put someone in as caretaker manager and take a bit of time with the appointment.

Just a wild guess but I’d say you’re in the group of fans who got their way in the summer. Anyone but Wilder hasn’t really been a great success has it?

We can't go back to Wilder, especially for a third time it would be ridiculous. Sticking with this mindset then I'm afraid the next 50 years will be about the same as the last 50 years. He shouldn't be the only manager that can manage us.

I don't have any delusions of grandeur here, I don't expect Sheffield United to be challenging for the PL title or even European football as such (although multiple clubs our size have managed this) - but we have massively underachieved for the past half a century and all I simply would like is to change that, it's not as if we're a club that shouldn't be able to either. Slightly bigger clubs than us have managed to establish in the top flight but also on the flip side quite a few smaller clubs have more than managed this.

Wilder isn't a Premier League manager and has only achieved promotion to it once and there are loads of them down the years that have just the one, heck this even applies to Micky Adams.

I agree with much of what you say but it is absolutely not that he is the only manager that could manage us just that he seems to be by far the best possible option available.

I don't want Wilder as we can't keep going back.

If that is the choice they make then fair does though. There needs to be some kind of succession in place though.

We really need a DOF as well.

Would Blessin be interested? Or has that ship sailed?

If Selles is in charge next week, I fear the worst. Nothing is going to change with him in charge

Why can't we keep going back (to one of the most successful managers we've ever had) ?
What does a DOF do ?
Why would we employ Blessing ?

Because although we got 9x points. X can be whatever you want it to be it was fucking boring. We didn’t sell out all season and even when it looked like we were going to do it, we were still getting crap attendances. Nobody wanted to go. I am season ticket holder and sometimes couldn’t be arsed to go.

Getting a bit too long in the tooth to watch that shit.

Granted give me a choice of wilder v Selles I am going wilder but fuck me that’s depressing. Selles was a bad shout and behind the scenes he couldn’t help but get on his own way and it’s just not worked out.

I would love the board to push the boat out on santo or rosenior but doubt they would take it anyway, carrick is a good shout because at least the players will respect him.

If we go back to wilder now we will never move on

Neither do I, but it would be funny
Imagine banner cross next November with them both on tables... Wilder chanting sausage roll, rohl singing "eat your sandwich, eat your sandwich, eat your sandwich in front of him"

Steve Evans, likes S Yorkshire, knows the area, big personality, what's not to like? Popular guy, would be ideal for L2.

We are doing, it’s happening.

All this talk of Dyche and Blessing talk is fantasy. We’re not that an attractive proposition right now.

If it’s a choice between CW and someone like Carrick or OGS only one conclusion. Get CW on the training ground on Monday, ignore all the third time noise and we go into the Charlton match with hope. Three points and move onto Oxford and see how we go
