I’ve woken up and he’s still the manager. How?

I genuinely thought his sacking would have been announced by the time we finally made it home after suffering the multiple detours due to planned roadworks through Newmarket, on a busy Friday night, and then through the villages of Sawtry, Glaton and Chesterton. At least we got to see the Elton Furze Golf club close up. Not great timing to close the A14 and A1 on such a night. A big shout out to the coach drivers navigating through such narrow country lanes.

You lot deserve a medal credit to all those who went last night. Couple of questions the fans applauded the team which I was very surprised at. What was the atmosphere like? And why didnt the players get laid into they don't deserve your applause and appreciation. If we get a new manager and all of a sudden performances improve how do the players get away with downing tools? Is like 11 premiership Anels on the pitch.

I would describe the atmosphere as defiant. I was on the supporters coach when they announced the team news pulling into Ipswich, and it was greeted with disbelief. As the game started the backing for the Blades was terrific, and even after the first goal the fans were encouraging the team. The first goal, which looked as thought it was brought about by a huge and fortunate deflection knocked us, but the killer was their second. In my view, and I'm no expert, opponent teams pack their defense and easily deal with our press, wait for us to gift them the ball in midfield, and then knock it forward into the huge spaces we leave. That's how I saw the second goal, and from then on the atmosphere changed and was directed towards Selles, with a few groans directed at players such as Godfrey. Towards the end the fans displayed loyalty to The Blades, an element of sympathy to the players, who appear to be trying to make an unplayable system work, but clearly booed Selles as he came towards us, who appeared statuesque and unemotional. I understand the view that the players have downed tools, but to me they look bewildered.

Agree and no doubt they’ll have been sounding out prospective replacements over the last 2 weeks or so.
That’s the issue…..it’s no good sacking Selles…unless you have a proper replacement already lined up.
The club mouse catching cat could do better.

That’s exactly right. Struber said the same after the first game of the season. He’d watched us pre season and it was a simple tactic of soak up the limited pressure and exploit the space behind. It’s too fucking easy to see and I saw it from the pre season game v Burton. I’ve been convinced since the Selles is useless.

Sorry I disagree sack him now we can be no worse than we are at the moment no matter who they put in temporarily just get him gone

It was a mind bogglingly bad appointment on day 1. A manager who has no comprehension of top half championship football.. a proverbial stickleback fish pond bottom dweller. We have for 7 seasons not been outside the top 10 and 4 promotions and we sign a fire fighter...wtf were they thinking

It'll take longer than usual to sort the severance package for him and all the coaches. Not just one person we are getting rid of.

It'll take time, just hope we've started the recruitment process at the same time.

He needs to do the honourable thing and walk. Nothing against him as a bloke. As a manager however? Dogshit.

I'm fucking angry at the state of our club. Feels like over a decade of near constant improvement has been pissed away. These owners have a lot to answer for.
Serious question. Would you walk away with nothing or wait to be sacked and walk away with a big chunk of money.

Likewise. Our anticipated three hour journey home turned into a five and a half hour journey home.

Rounded off a perfect evening.

Nope, and that's why we are in the shit with a potential stalemate. He ain't gonna forego the money, and the board are seemingly stubborn, clueless and won't want to admit a mistake by sacking him. Not to mention they've already had to pay to fix one mistake in giving Wilder a long contract

This is utd were talking about here mate, they do everything at a snails pace!!

Whoever made the decision to appoint him is unlikely to want to admit they've dropped a bollock. Maybe he'll get the next couple of games because they look more winnable.

I still dont understand why someone who is patently awful at their job, and the "data" proves this, 6 losses, can expect a compensation payment when sacked? Surely they could get rid, no compensation, and say see you in court. Prove their case and win. There is absolutely nothing he can cling to. Many players brought in with known abilities, last season's player of the year and age guts of a team that missed out on promotion to EPL by a hare's breath.

I managed in the Rotherham Sunday league 30 years ago.
I'm available. I guarantee I'll be better than this clown.

Depends on the contract

Surely, COH, will be trying to get someone else in before sacking him. Why not let Ben Mee be caretaker manager until that happens. He has his coaching badges.
