New view of Lane re-development

Because he is current club captain, whose goal tally last season was one of the main reasons why we ended up on 100 points, and topped League 1 from January to the end of the season. A Sheffield lad who is a born and bred Sheffield United fan, leading his team out on to the pitch week in, week out. To many of the young fans, he is a hero. To many of the old (like me) fans, he is a hero. As the old saying goes "he's one of our own"

He only scores penalties and tap-ins though.......

If it's a screen then it can change as it suits. If we're seriously getting into the realms of fantasy, ie in that the stadium shown will ever happen, then I don't think a screen is much more of a stretch.

I work in an iron foundry, on some of the bigger Hydrolic applications, tank bungs, the furnace frame holding down bolts etc etc.

Fascinating that we would look to make all these improvements to the stadium and yet the Gents toilets on the Cherry St and Shoreham St corner of the Kop are still planned to remain!

If that toilet block ever gets demolished, they'd have Tony Robinson and the 'Time Team' all over it, with their trowels, brushes and hand knitted jumpers. :)

The best way to redevelop the top is to make it two tear would add to the atmosphere and also possible to increase capacity.
The gap between shorthand street and the development should be sufficient enough to get planning permission.
It would also mean it's possible to keep using the top during building work as it could be done in two stages.
Now waiting for an engineer amongst us to say ! health and safety would rule this out.
Does seem a good way to redevelop it??

Personally wouldn't want a two tiered Kop. I'd prefer the current plans to that, but the extension needs to be as steep as possible because the back row is far enough back from the pitch as it is.

Anyone know if it would be possible to get another tier on John Street?

Number 2 on the attached image is interesting...seems to be on John Street. No mention of anything here before...
Number two is land acquired by John street developments about 10 years ago ,McCabe is going to build offices etc on it .

The kop obviously needs sorting out but it always annoys me how there is never any mention of the John Street stand being extended. It was built at a time when our attendances were pretty crap and therefore it's far too small and makes the ground look lopsided once inside, it's also the stand that the TV cameras see.

Two levels of executive areas above a stand that only holds about 6,000 is a waste of limited space and just doesn't look right to me, and would look even more daft if the kop and south stand were extended.
The John street had a height restriction in planning because of the houses behind

It wouldn't need to be any higher, the seats should just have been extended at the expense of one (or both) of the executive levels. The corporate areas should be in the South Stand anyway.

The steeper the stand the lower the capacity.
The normal way to have reasonably steep stands and still achieve maximum capacity is to make a stand double tier or even triple tier.
So extending the current Kop but make it steeper would probably see the same capacity as it is now.

Also to be fair the Kop is supposed to be the cheapest area in the ground, for decades you never got a seat.
So there is an arguement to keep the shallow rake, at least all the posts (restricted views) will have gone, and have half decent concourse areas which are at least under cover and this will be sufficient for the cheap seats.

If you want more leg room and slightly better conditions you have the option of moving to the South Stand or BLUT but then you would be expected to pay more.

I think Sheffsteel meant to extend the current kop with a steeper extension, not make the whole stand steeper. This is my understanding of the current plans and is the logical answer.

I like the 'Beautiful Down Town Bramall Lane' writing on the south stand.

Would love this to go ahead. Would make The Lane one of the best grounds in the UK.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but where you got the pic from? I presume its from the extension plans we had for the 2018 World Cup bid which surprisingly went to the Sty because they're ground is next to a park!

I think we can realistically expect the Kop to be built like above and that's probably realistic in the next ten years or so!

Can't really tell from the animation but looks like the ugly corner between Kop and John Street would stay as it is. Looks awful the way it was done, I just can't understand why they'd build it when some seats can't even see the majority of the pitch! They did the same with John Street, there's some seats at the bottom nearest the away end that have their view blocked by the away seats! Did nobody see this problem when they drew up the plans??
The corner between John Street and the Kop is where they're planning to put some boxes at the back with some seating left at the front.

Think I've mentioned it in this thread already but I reckon it's pretty certain we'll be getting standing areas at football back in this country in the not too distant future. They'll be revisiting the plans and incorporating a standing area into the Kop.
