New prices at the lane

You'd still like to think that with £100 million of TV money flowing through the accounts that they'd like to give the fans something back.

Didn't Hudderfield do something when they got promoted

Season tickets hardly went up. It was a perfectly reasonable small raise.

Still cheaper than Wednesdays and one of the cheapest in the league.

We wanted to get promoted didn’t we. Well paying premier league wages and signings cost more.

Championship - 23 Match Day Programmes @ £3 = £69
Premiership - 19 Match Day Programmes @ £3.50 = £66.50

Looks like £3.50 is the standard price for the Prem anyway...

Again supply and demand. If Huddersfield charged normal “PL ticket prices” their stadium would have only been 2 thirds full.
Think most owners charge whatever they can get away with (to maximise income) as long the stadiums continue to be sold out.
When gates go down, proves reduce and that’s when you see offers to encourage more fans.

There was a reason for the small increase though. At the time they brought out the prices we weren’t in the top 2. Leeds and Norwich were favourites.
The prices were brought out on the assumption we’d be playing in the Championship, those that renewed early or bought new ST tickets early gambled and that gamble/ loyalty paid off because we are watching PL based on Championship prices.

If we are comfortable mid table all season....then I expect season tickets to have a much bigger renewal price for next season.

Welcome to the premier league!

I’m surprised no one has mentioned any of this before.......

A lot of people coming out of the woodwork to jump on this bandwagon. Pity they can’t contain their indignation to one thread about costs.

Even greater pity that they are so pathetically desperate to find things to moan about at this point in time. You know- before our first PL match in 12 years.

I feel a FOTH coming on

I think you should consider changing the thread title to - Tight Wad Stanthemanfan

Will the price increase in food, drinks, shirts and programs really amount to 2 million extra for us?
The way some people are reacting, you'd think it was 2 million extra per fan

Yes I am!
Wernt we one of the one of the clubs with the highest percentage of income due to ticket sales/ merchandise etc?
Don't you think the club should give a little back instead of tryin to fleece us Wendy style?
£10 to have the premier league crest on shirt
No 10% of at superstore etc etc
Wait till the new owners take over
This is just the start, if we stay up, another hike inevitable
But never mind eh?

Goes with the territory i'm afraid STMF.

Don’t know whether you’re on the wind up or incredibly naive.
It comes with the territory I’m afraid.....and with success...it will only get worse for the tight wads...who will enventually be priced out and replaced by a new breed of richer fans. If the owners of a club are asked to show ambition then it’s fair that, where possible, fans also show ambition too.

Sheffield football struggles to receive investment because the outsiders think the Sheffield people/ fans lack ambition and always prefer a budget product at budget prices.

It’s not all bad though, tightwads will still be able to see us for free on the Match of the Day
And if any prefer live football then going to watch Hallam FC or Sheffield FC could be an enjoyable alternative.

Bloody ell Stanley are you always this positive or have you just got the gas bill

If you are unable to discuss this in a coherent manner then I suggest you put your dummy back in and keep it there.

Dummy? Very adult.

United's wage bill is nowhere near £60m yet

Nowhere near eh? So say 50% eh?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and round it up to tbe next £10m. What say you back up your winder analytics with a £10 charity bet that our wages for 2019/20 will be at least £40m?

I wish we were still in L1. Programmes were 50p cheaper.

I think our prices for all the things you mention are reasonable. I’d much rather be where we are now and paying a bit extra.

I couldn't believe how cheap my STs were for me as adult, and kids at 18 and 16 on fantastic reduced prices.
Fixed your list btw

Can't be arsed to look but I bet we are easily comparable to the club from S6 in terms of prices.....

They're not reasonable because they're wrong.

It's £5 for the prem badge and it's optional. Same for the EFL badges in previous seasons.
There's a 20% discount with the season ticket. Ok, it's 1-off, but still, it's there.

Our season tickets are the cheapest in the league, our general sale tickets are one of the cheapest in the league, the catering prices have been debunked, it's from the Rod Stewart concert, you get a 20% off voucher, though it's one use. The kits have gone up because they're better.

And it's £5 for the Premier League crest.

I looked on Palace site earlier 78 quid for a ticket, ours are dirt cheap side of that.

I’m gonna say a few controversial things here, I’m sorry if I offend anyone. I will start by saying I absolutely love Sheffield and despite being from Chesterfield, I’ve supported United all my life and Sheffield will always be my home city despite living in loads of other big cities around the world.

However, there’s a deep rooted mindset within the Sheffield people that holds them and the city back a lot. Good things happen to other cities. Investment and high end products are for other people. You have to ask yourself why, despite all being cut from virtually the same cloth and sharing a lot of identity, the cities of Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester are so different. Manchester in particular I would describe as a metropolis and the people that live there are proud of their cutting edge, crest of a wave attitudes. There’s a saying there: ‘What happens in Manchester today, happens in London tomorrow.’ I just don’t feel like Sheffield shares this mentality. People sneer and turn their noses up at change. I think that’s fundamentally what sets Sheffield apart from Manchester. People are proud of it almost as they’re scared of losing their ‘identity’ whereas people in Manchester feel that being open and receptive to new ideas IS their identity.

There’s got to be a reason that Sheffield performs really poorly on the league table of Northern cities in terms of investment, tourism, employment etc. I think it’s linked to how generally tight people are.

I worked on a cocktail bar at Tramlines festival a few weeks ago, and it was by far the quietest bar on the whole site. People were literally walking up, seeing the prices and laughing in our faces. I know it’s not cheap but I’ve worked at festivals all over the country and never had a reaction like that.

Does anyone have any insight and want to discuss it without getting upset about it?

............and still cheaper than our Sheffield neighbours in all of your chosen categories..........
