New prices at the lane

They're not reasonable because they're wrong.

It's £5 for the prem badge and it's optional. Same for the EFL badges in previous seasons.
There's a 20% discount with the season ticket. Ok, it's 1-off, but still, it's there.
OMG that’s terrible. I might start supporting another team.

There’s got to be a reason that Sheffield performs really poorly on the league table of Northern cities in terms of investment, tourism, employment etc. I think it’s linked to how generally tight people are.

I worked on a cocktail bar at Tramlines festival a few weeks ago, and it was by far the quietest bar on the whole site. People were literally walking up, seeing the prices and laughing in our faces. I know it’s not cheap but I’ve worked at festivals all over the country and never had a reaction like that.

Enjoyed reading that and yes Sheffield people are reticent to change, we are a glass half empty people I don't think we're tight, more careful. I'd like to add to that if there was a beer tent there surely cocktails wouldn't get a look in, to me Manchester is too busy and no matter what anyone says Leeds is a shithole.

The op represents everything that is wrong with the Sheffield mindset.
Small minded.
Tightwad.
Summat for nowt.
Better when the plague was around.
Don't grow.
Chip on each shoulder.

Fuck off.

We are big time now and with that comes big outlook.

The club are doing everything right.
Embrace it or fuck off and live in a cave.

There was no need to increase ticket prices and the reality that there are quite a few space invaders still left on the online ticket site tells its own story.
Ticket income is now an afterthought and it was just greed putting the prices up.

You're not thinking 4 dimensionally.

They've had an increase, don't know what it actually is, a few quid, but in the event we get relegated we will be down millions of quid, and need to make that up somehow, so would have to increase prices.

Now if we get relegated we don't have to and can put a positive spin on it and look like we're doing everyone a favour by not putting prices up.

This increase isn't for now, it's for the worst case scenario in my opinion.

Even in the likely event that's bollocks, it's not greed it's common sense, sell for the value you can get for it. We're trying to progress.

Club gets promoted into league so fans can watch a good chunk of world's best players and troglodyte says rip off to increase prices.

You do realise you are insane.

I’m gonna say a few controversial things here, I’m sorry if I offend anyone. I will start by saying I absolutely love Sheffield and despite being from Chesterfield, I’ve supported United all my life and Sheffield will always be my home city despite living in loads of other big cities around the world.

However, there’s a deep rooted mindset within the Sheffield people that holds them and the city back a lot. Good things happen to other cities. Investment and high end products are for other people. You have to ask yourself why, despite all being cut from virtually the same cloth and sharing a lot of identity, the cities of Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester are so different. Manchester in particular I would describe as a metropolis and the people that live there are proud of their cutting edge, crest of a wave attitudes. There’s a saying there: ‘What happens in Manchester today, happens in London tomorrow.’ I just don’t feel like Sheffield shares this mentality. People sneer and turn their noses up at change. I think that’s fundamentally what sets Sheffield apart from Manchester. People are proud of it almost as they’re scared of losing their ‘identity’ whereas people in Manchester feel that being open and receptive to new ideas IS their identity.

Does anyone have any insight and want to discuss it without getting upset about it?

I’ve heard those kind of comments many times over the years by so many people.
Negatively, the fear of any change and the unwillingness to pay extra for higher quality has traditionally held the city back.
The council had played a part in this mentality but I suppose the council is only trying to work in line their voters wishes.

What difference does prices being say £25 to £30 make compared to £35 to £40 when the payment from being in the Premier League is £100m?
It's needless greed.

If a club doesn’t spend much and has little ambition....then agree it’s greed to charge more.
But if a club is ambitious...wanting to improve a training ground...improve stadium...pay big wages out to players...then it’s a joint effort,
The board should show ambition but also the fans need to show the same ambition instead of settling for the cheap option.

Season ticket rise
Match day price rise
Programme price rise
Kit price rise
Catering price rise
Membership price rise
Plus no smoking or cash
Thanks for your loyal support blades
Welcome to the premier league!

You seem to know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

One of the reasons I left Sheffield ten years ago was to get away from people like you.

My mate Pinchy will be apoplectic when he reads this joke thread. FFS, there are only grounds to complain if we don't compare favourably with similar clubs in the same league.

What you're saying is similar to what a mate of mine says, he blames it on voting for labour "because your dad voted labour all his life".. which seemed to be the mantra when I was 17..

To Quote Robbo, an Arsenal fan.. ffs.

"Manchester play it differently. They'll flip between parties and vote for each side, this makes the politicians work for their votes in that city, unlike in Sheffield where labour can sit back do nothing and watch the votes roll in.. in Manchester what's promised gets delivered because they know they'll be voted out if they don't, so the city prospers.. they've realised that all politicians are the same act the same and do the same, theyre all from the same schools, so they play them against each other to the benefit of the city"

So, as for the cocktails..

The festival thing is easily explained, somebody said it was around a tenner for a gin and tonic in the park and you can get 2 pints for that, that's how we think generally we divide the cost by the amount received, I did this at tramlines in West Street live by buying three bottles of Corona for 5 quid and making 2 pints out of them, saving 4 quid on the previous round we had in the forum, soon we were all drinking Corona, when you're out all weekend you need to stretch you money as far as it'll go.

As for United, excellent value for money across the board, those complaining should remember we've just spent north of 50 million this closed season, and for their season ticket money they are getting the best football this country has to offer, oh and some just want to find a problem, no matter how small it is it'll do for them, some just can't be happy..

You can always..
Not buy the programme.
Not use the bars inside the ground.
Not buy the replica shirts.
"Etc"

It's called "choice"

'In the soundbite, from last year, he says: 'We could charge more than £104. Let's say we charged £300. We'd get £2m more in income but what's £2m to us?

'In a transfer discussion you argue about that sum for five minutes. But the difference between £104 and £300 is huge for the fan.

'We do not think the fans are like cows, who you milk. Football has got to be for everybody.

'That's the biggest difference between us and England.'

Rip-off is too far, but I do think the club is charging for some things more than they need to/should.

The quote was from Uli Hoeneß, who got three and a half years for tax evasion a while back, then went back to Bayern.

What went wrong when councillor Scrivens and the Lib Dems ran Sheffield council then ?

You'd still like to think that with £100 million of TV money flowing through the accounts that they'd like to give the fans something back.

Didn't Hudderfield do something when they got promoted
Yeah got relegated 😉

Dummy? Very adult.

Its you that keeps spitting it out. Very childish.

Nowhere near eh? So say 50% eh?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and round it up to tbe next £10m. What say you back up your winder analytics with a £10 charity bet that our wages for 2019/20 will be at least £40m?

WTF are you talking about. I've said (for the fourth time now and you're still not fucking listening) that our present squad will be nowhere near £60m but will be when Wilder upgrades it. Just for a minute consider who is in our squad, off the top of my head the likes of Lundstram, Wright, Bryan, Clarke, Moore, Holmes, Carruthers, Verrips, Freeman K, Henegan won't even be on £20k pw, thats nearly a third of our senior staff. The bulk of the rest will be on £20-40k pw and an elite of 3 or 4 players will be on more than £50k pw. There will definitely be no superstars in there on superstar money. Do the sums yourself. Once Wilder gets rid of some of this lot he'll be replacing them with better (and costlier) players. Do I have to spell this out in any more detail?

Didn't Hudderfield do something when they got promoted

Season ticket holders who'd had one for 8 years consecutively got it for a hundred quid.

They are giving us great to watch football in the Premier League, and paying the best manager we've ever had, that's all I want to be honest. Couldn't give a toss if I got a free scarf or whatever.
