I agree, one way or another, we need to find out this week,
i can tell you right now. Wilder isn't getting the sack. Our US owners will have looked at his record and concluded that there's no-one who is more likely to get us promoted. The earliest I can see him being sacked is Christmas, and only if we're in a relegation scrap.

Of course I could be wrong, and they could all fall out over eg AI-driven recruitment or tactics. But from a logical viewpoint CW is tried and tested at SUFC, while nothing is guaranteed with any newcomer (see Slav, Adkins etc) regardless of their past pedigree elsewhere.

Well Wilder is on the train down to st pancras station this morning (been sent a picture of him reading the paper). Meeting with Bettis and the owners? Who knows.
Probably going to madam toussauds to sign Bobby Charlton!

Having worked for US corporates most of my adult life, I'll bet you right now if he walks in there with the same attitude we saw at the end of the season, he'll be walking out with his P45!!

They'll want him to be self aware enough to discuss where it went wrong, and what is plans are to improve and not have the same thing happen.

If he's the belligerent, track suit wearing, sausage roll singing, badge kissing person we've seen recently, it could be a bumpy meeting!

What didn't you like about his attitude at the end of the season?

Following the disappointment of missing out on the autos Wilder was widely praised for his attitude - the commitment and the mental reset that saw us beat Stoke, dominate Blackburn then sail through the playoff semis only to lose a final that we would have won if it wasn't for another a dodgy VAR decision.

Obviously everyone was devastated on the final whistle at Wembley but I don't think you can now rewrite history and imply that Wilder had an attitude problem.

Couldn't give two fucks about his attitude, it was his lack of a Plan B, Plan C and Plan D that really boiled my piss.

That and the fact we looked no nearer knowing how we play or what our best XI is, than we did week one V Preston.

Thats what he'll hopefully be getting grilled on by our owners. What's the Plan Chris? How are we making our assets better and developing them into more profitable assets?

What will not go in his favour is our January business.
a) that they didn't tangibly improve us, and
b) that HC aside they didn't play enough despite significant outlay on them.

If he digs in his heels and says he has to be in charge of final say on first team signings, I think it may be the end of him.

We should find out this week. If the owners want clarity of vision which is very strong in the American business mind they need to set out that vision and how they are going to set up for it over the next 7 weeks, yes 7 weeks!
I'm afraid the Americans don't do failure, from what dealings I've had with them over the years ( not that much)
They're always ready with plans and would suspect they've already sounded out a replacement, or a list of potential coaches
Jessie marche director of football, you heard it here first 🤣🤣🤣

If not , they're the most backward yanks I've ever seen.

But what about Wilder’s pedigree over the last 4 or 5 years

If COH can’t see that he’s past his sell by date then we’re in the same ownership mire of recent times

Scored 39 but only conceded 39. Promoted team survival is completely dependent on goals conceded above all other stats.
I agree. The idea we were swashbuckling flies in the face of facts. I think we enjoyed winning by keeping in games and nicking games by whatever means necessary as we weren’t expected to. For us to succeed in staying up next time we’ll need a solid defence and goalie. I think a good defence helps Burnley and buggers up Leeds next season.

Yet he just got 92 points in a Championship season, missing out on promotion by the slimmest of margins. He had a far better record than all but two of last season's managers in the Championship. His points tally this season would normally be enough for promotion to the PL.

So yeah, let's sack him and go back to the drawing board. He's clearly 'past his sell-by date'..

Thinking about it logically and strategically (which I know is unpopular round these parts!), if we're going to sack Wilder, we'd have done it the Monday after the Play Offs loss.

The reason for the delay and inertia now is the owners have given him 3 weeks to clear his head and come up with his plan/vision for the next 12/24/36 months - which is why he's been summoned to give his thoughts & ideas

If he's sacked now, it'll be because contained in that PowerPoint will be lump to to Moore, get McBurnie back and it'll all be reyt....

There’s an old fella sits in front of us at the Lane. Ex scout for Rotherham and Donny Rovers, looks about 90. He doesn’t say much, swears like a trooper but when he does we listen. Four weeks after loosing Souttar in the Burnley game we were playing Hull and 2-0 down. This has been ******* coming for weeks he said. That CB partnership is just not good enough, we’ve gone from the sublime to the ******* ridiculous. Wilder has a week left to bring in a quality match fit Souttar replacement in or it’ll ******* cost us. I don’t think he spoke again for the rest of the season but he said it all there.
Do I really look 90 🫤
