Didn't the post say he is out on loan, and if his contract is up in 2016 he will no doubt be back, with games under his belt, I'm sure NC knows what he is doing . I guess I'm going to find out in a little while.

Absolutely and if the worst happens and we need a CB in the playoffs, he will be back and match fit.

Cheers mate, no good trying to second guess what the loan spell means for Collins or the club

It will truly have to be an unfortunate set of circumstances for that to happen. Before Collins would be considered at centre-back, there would have to be injuries/suspensions to:

Basham,
McEveley,
Kennedy,
Brayford,
Alcock,
McGahey,
Harris,
The Statue Of Joe Shaw.

I suspect Louis Reed would be given the nod ahead of Collins at the minute. Which is a shame, as I liked Collins, but I think Clough has rightly or wrongly made it abundantly clear that he wants to pursue a Collins-free defence till Collins's inevitable permanent departure.

No surprise but it's a shame for a player who's given the club and supporters a lot of his time and effort over the past few years.

Last season he was terrific however he looked shaky along with the rest of the defence early on this season, good luck to him.

Players come
players eventually leave

Clough wants rapid centre backs in their mid twenties
Collins is on the verge of 32 and isnt getting any quicker ,
Championship beckons , ifwe do succeed in may he was never going to feature back up in the even faster championship , so its the footballing equivalent of putting a horse out to stud

Hes been a model pro and being that he will understand

Great post S11

Collo is player that has played 180 games for the club, been a regular fixture of a defence that has gotten to 2 x playoffs and an FA Cup semi final. He hasn't featured much this year and without him the team has consistently conceded goals.

Because of that I am disappointed that I won't get the opportunity to give him the applause/ovation that his final appearance for us deserves and I appreciate the service he has given the club...Or does that mean I am foolishly exagerrating him as the scottish Baresi?

Maybe I am remembering incorrectly but when he was in the team he was constantly being slated on here for being slow and not good enough. Now he has gone he has been elevated to a supreme status. Personally I don't care either way, he seemed very professional when he was here, never a legend but a player who did his best. Good luck at PV and thanks.

Yep, he was a laughing stock with most fans when we came down from the Chumpionship but had a good season alongside HM (who he doubtless helped develop) the year after. Great professional as people have said, Div 1 is probably his level and I think he has been harshly treated by Clough although we'll never know the full story. Seems to have been scapegoated for Swindon away and his days seem to have been numbered since then.

Good luck to him.

Go on then. Name the names. Who has elevated him to "supreme status"?

This appears to have been a real pisser thread for some. The predicted tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth hasn't even come close to happening. The over reaction to the over reaction has been a little premature.

As for the man himself. Well done mate, to come back from one of the worst ever performances I've ever seen a Blade CB put in (Scunthorpe, of course) and actually play nearly 200 games must have taken some doing.

I don't think very much to Collins and have been very critical over the years, however I still think he's better than players who have got in front of him this season.

At least I won't have to listen to the guy who sells programmes in the Queens Social Club keep banging on about getting Collins back into the side !
Collins was slow and sometimes ponderous, blaming every body but himself !
Best solution all round - Should have got rid when Butler went !
Must admit not a big fan of Collins !!!

I think they tried- he turned down Carlisle -now that shows a distinct lack of ambition on his part :p

I wish him luck. He was never the world's greatest but I agree overlooked this season, whether for good or ill reasons I have no idea. Shame he will lose out on shopping at Meadowhell on match days though - must have got used to it. Hope his calf is better now
