Adkins looks like he won't get a season with most on here. People forget we had to put up with some shite during the Neil "mr motivator" Warnock years.

The plus for Adkins is he looks to utilise the academy more than any other manager has over recent years. I can see what Adkins is trying to achieve but with the squad the way it is at the moment it looks an up hill challenge.

I think Adkins big mistake this season was not clearing players out sooner. He has to keep what is it 16 players soon to be out of contract happy? Most of them know they won't be getting a new contract. What I expected at the start of the season was these players to show that they wanted to be here regardless of who is in charge. Have some sort of personal pride in themselves and earn a new deal.

I expect the club to get rid of Adkins eventually and keep making the same mistakes especially while McCabe is at the club. Sell the best player, fail to get promoted, sack the manager and repeat. Keep repeating the same pattern even if relegated. Keep the pattern going and keep the deluded hope someone buys the club.

I think you are right in every aspect of this post.

9 Games to go..........Thats 27 points......How many do you think we need ,bearing in mind were 6 points behind 6th place at present.
It could all start from Crewe next week..........Oh no not Crewe again.......
Ever the optimist.

Big difference getting a team out of relegation and getting them into a promotion position. You can afford to lose a few and still not get relegated. Promotion wise we would need to win just about every remaining game and that would only he for top 6 finish.

some people just wont let things go will they...his time has gone..nope..and tbh i dont thinjk theres that many dog eggs up at shirecliffe to pick up...only job he is fit for..

We all expected far more at the start of the season though. Few if any expected us to be this shit. His signings, team selections and tactics have been woeful. Too many managers live on past reputations as to what they did 5-10 years ago. I just don't have the faith in him at present that I wish I had
well said, I've also no faith at the moment in Adkins, talks like a corporate politician, same post match crap response every game. UTB

Warnock won't be back.

As for Adkins I'm still in favour of retaining him, but I have to admit it's getting very difficult to justify that stance when you see team selections like yesterday and the knowledge that he is going sign the absolute waste of space Hammond on a permanent deal in the summer.

I don't think any other manager is going to do any better next season if they do get rid though.

If Warnock came back then he would no doubt be bring Blackwell & Paddy with him. Could the fans who hated Blakwells rein stomach seeing Blackwell back in the dugout?

Some of football under neil was dire. 2002-03 and 2006 -07 were good, the rest were just as agonising as todays stuff... people have bad memories, dare i mention Mark Rankine and mike whitlow, barry hayles, etc. etc. took him 6 years to get us up, one to get us down.
you forgot Geoff Horsfield. who warnock courted for long enough, bought then did,nt want him  i thought that was embarrasing

Bye Bye Season Ticket if he returns.
Only just getting back to normal from his last visit. Despite being in league1.
Remember Aston Villa away. Still he did buy a player a week, then not play them and so on................Big No From Me.
If that's all you remember from the Warnock era you are sadder than you appear.

Having read his book, Made in Sheffield, I very much doubt he'd ever want to come back to Bramall Lane except as a spectator or as opposition manager. He was given false promises about his contract when he could have gone to Portsmouth on double the money, Sean Bean swore at his 5 year old son, and he despises the clique of big gob fans that sit behind the dugouts to give the manager stick.

It took him six or seven years and a lot of money last time. Time and money are luxuries we cannot afford now. No ta.
Simply not true though is it ? he never failed to take us out of the 3rd division.

Getting so hard to say I agree with that Swiss but I do for the moment, summer alleged rebuild will determine Adkins fate.

Adkins will only get quality players to re-build if he gets the backing from the man at the top,if there is any backing it will be more of the the same shite we have at present, feel sorry for NA he has inherited an over sized squad on ridiculous contracts who plainly aint good enough

As a fan, I was pretty pissed off that he openly interviewed for the Portsmouth job during our promotion attempt and sunned himself on the Crystal Palace owner's yacht during the summer myself.

Fucking hell ,look at the shit we are having to endure now ,look at the great players he got us ,look at the great times ,look at the memories crowds rising from 9k to 30 ,I think its your memory that needs looking at it was never anywhere near as bad as it is now and we are in the pissing 3rd division getting hammered by the likes of Shrewsbury and coming back against nobody.

Which part of what I said isn't true? It's all relative. He started with an average to poor second tier team that played against other second tier teams. It took him six years to put a promotion team together. Here he would start with an average to poor third tier team playing against other third tier teams. Why do you think he'd find a successful formula so much easier than last time, especially when considering each of his last three jobs are supposed to have been the "one last challenge" he had in him?

The job here is too big an ask for him now.

I thought he had pretty much gone to Portsmouth at the time for a better tractor.

Daft thing is Warnock would have got his lovely contract had he kept us up. Probably on more money than Mandy was offering.

Warnock always does what's good for Warnock.

FFS, it wasn't too long ago that the self titled "big Blade" was touting himself for the Wednesday job!

He turned down the chance to go to Chelsea out of loyalty to Notts County and then got shat on, so I don't blame him. Still got shat on again though.

Hmm, did he?
When he turned down Mandaric's offer which was for nearly double what he was on he was promised more or less that if he got us to the Premiership. When he did the promise was reneged on. Well that's what he says happened anyway, I suppose it all comes down to whether you believe what people say.

Why was a so called massive Blade interviewing with other Chairmen when in the middle of trying to get 'his' team promoted after finally being backed pre season as he had asked?

Why would a so called massive Blade openly tout for a job managing the pigs?

No Blade I know would do these things.

Guess it's a "no" from you then ;)

Guys. The problems are out on the pitch and in the boardroom. One is caused by the other. Simple algebra tells us that by changing one variable with no overall effect we keep getting the same answer, whilst of the other two, one gets bigger as the other gets smaller.

Common denominators. McCabe out.

Stick with the manager we have, build steadily. Sacking yet another manager will not guarantee success, but adkins will make the progress needed

We are going nowhere with Adkins.

On Sunday Supplement it was said " a team reflects its manager." Well we are totally inconsistent and we are worse than last year. We will almost certainly finish lower in the League than last year, that's going backwards. Don't just say he has had Clough's players. Ranieri had largely a team of relegation battlers and look what's happened there. He messes about with the team, formations etc. Tinkerman? Blinkerman more like.

I've just been reading a recent Harry Redknapp book, where he offers a lot of incites. perhaps Adkins should have read it. Some of the advice is basic stuff. I don't think United have some of those basics at the moment. A manager's job is to motivate and maximise the impact of the resources at his disposal. NA hasn't done that.

I think McCabe et al will continue with him and I think next year we'll be back to Weir standard......with no Clough to come to the rescue.

Does Redknapp's book discuss his utterly reckless spending that near bankrupted some of his ex clubs?
