Hecky’s interviews are so shit. Used to love listening to him as well. Shares hardly anything. I get he doesn’t want to give stuff away to the opposition but supporters like to know stuff, hence the obligatory interviews. It’s like talking to a club official about where we’re going pre-season or shop staff about when the new shirts out. All very “I know but you can’t know yet“. United my arse.
Agree, he does take the white lies, vagueness and secrecy to the extreme.
Hecky demeanour reminds me of Nigel Clough, he's always bland, non emotional answering questions with a straight bat.
Although Hecky does appear more likeable/ down to earth where as Clough had a hint of sarcasm/ superiority about him.
Some could argue Hecky's vagueness is actually a strength
because he's professional, non confrontational, keeps a steady ship never risking saying anything controversial.
Totally different to the Wilder interviews who was very open, quite emotional, sometimes wearing his heart on his sleeve.
Used to love listening to Wilder as his honesty in his pre and post match interviews were so refreshing.
Take the Stoke match on Saturday.
0-30 mins We were excellent, far superior to Stoke, we looked a promotion side.
30-45 mins Took our foot of the gas but were still OK and slightly the better side
45-90 mins We parked the bus hanging on to our lead, totally lost midfield, lost any composure on the ball but defended really well.
In the post match interview Wilder would have recognised and acknowledged this, saying how we need to manage out the game better with better possession in midfield.
However Hecky's interviews never reveal anything, it's similar comments every match, no matter how we play.
