"Remembered" being a euphamism for looking it up eh? :)

Yes, in my reference book of "Blades Players who broke their legs 1970-2000" :-)

Hockey ,Macallister and McGeady all broke their legs at the lane against Man city in different seasons..........spooky.

Go on then

12/2/72 - Hockey - D3-3
20/10/73 - McAlistar L1-2
6/3/76 - McGeady L0-4 (this one actually at Maine Road).

I'd heard about McAllister breaking his leg, and it ruining his career as she was supposed to be one of the best goalkeeping prospects for years.

Remember being told about him, as he played for the opposition at some point at Bramall Lane in the mid to late 80's although it could be my mind playing tricks.

Think he might have played for West Ham ,he was to Brown what Tracey was to Kelly ,and Long is to Simmonsen :)

He played for Blackpool at the Lane on 18/9/79 and did indeed later play for WHU (but not against United).

Just remebered - at Ipswich on 13/1/90 - and Duffield broke his leg at Swindon on 10/12/89

:-)

My Norwich mate went to watch 3 Blades matches in the 1989/90 season. The 2-0 win at Swindon where Duffield broke his leg, the 1-1 draw at Ipswich where Lake broke his leg and a question for you about the third match my mate went to, one of our players broke his arm. Who was the player and what match was it?

Correct! It happened during the 1st half, I think and my mate was saying "it has happened again when I watch the Blades this season!"

Simon Webster was another, and i think Dane Whitehouse and Mike Lake also suffered the same injury at roughly the same time. Brian Smith's must have been a bad one, as not many players have to retire due to a Broken Leg.

There was Cliff Powell too. Signed from Watford, played about twice then broke his leg.

...and got booked for diving as he was being stretchered off as I recall.
