He married my mate's sister, but as far as I know now they're getting divorced. No idea about anything else....Deleted Member said:post: 375474"]One of lifes great questions, whatever happened to Paddy McGeeney, and where was the picture taken?
It's Brian Smith, McGeeny and Heffernan.
If it's at Brighton it's the game at the end of 1984-5 on the same day as the Bradford fire. United lost 1-0 with Smith scoring an own goal for the winner.
There was another thread on here recently about that game, where people were recounting their tales of heroism that day, i.e going on the pitch, doing some running around and getting within 50 or 60 yards of the Brighton fans at one point.
Brian and Paul Smith ,or the brothers grim as we called them.
Also known as the dangerous brothers.
To be fair, B. Smith was a fairly decent player and had a good 88-89 season until he broke his leg v Preston in April 89

Seem to remember him looking like a completely different player under Bassett, and he was one of the few he kept after relegation
Yes, I think he would have done a good job after promotion from D3 as well. He stayed on our books until late 91 and had a testimonial in May 92

Simon Webster was another, and i think Dane Whitehouse and Mike Lake also suffered the same injury at roughly the same time. Brian Smith's must have been a bad one, as not many players have to retire due to a Broken Leg.
Webster's was at Mansfield on 19/11/88 and Whitehouse's 4 years later v Bristol C on 7/10/92. You are right about Lake, but I can't remember when that was.
ALERT ALERT ALERT - Darren is losing his memory.
Just remebered - at Ipswich on 13/1/90 - and Duffield broke his leg at Swindon on 10/12/89
