We clearly needed a list of who stays and who goes.
Brooks will be more likely to end up on the leave list because of the points made about him and Wilder.
Personally I feel it's a massive shame, and Brooks should have been part of the rebuild not part of the leavers.. Him and Seriki last season were one of the positives.
Replicating that on the left should have been the goal this season.

People mention some of his flaws. Also true. Lad's 22 , so develop those those flaws out of him, rather than bin him off.

100% this! Great post mate. It appears that Knilly's departure has quickly been forgotten too. He and AB are good people who deserved better from our club.

Not sure I agree with your comment about lowering expectations.

We've had a poor few seasons, but with our recent history and relatively new ownership, I think our expectation level is top half championship.

Seems reasonable to me.

Hardly winning the champions league level of expectation is it ???

I’d be very surprised if Hamer, Peck or Seriki are all here come the end of the window as I don’t think that we can build a squad and keep them all with revenues we have now

We develop or buy players with a high future ceiling. This was supposed to be the point of Bords Data model, get cheap from shitty leagues and turn them into money.

Bringing in players with experience will always be part of the make up of the side.

I’d say that had we not had the mess of recruiting players like Chong (on a 4 year deal) last summer, we’d be able to afford to keep some of our young players a little longer.

But according to Wiki, Chong signed a 4 year deal. No idea with McGuinness

Presumably they were signed with longevity in mind and to protect the club from losing them on a free in case they were decent. 3-4 years is pretty standard for contract durations

Really disappointing to lose one of our better players to a rival club but I suppose the one small silver lining is that we've got some money for him before his contract expired, otherwise all we'll have got for him in January is a box of Colmans Mustard powder and an Alan Partridge tie and blazer badge combination pack.

We were under no illusion that Brooks was one of the players we might have lost this summer, its just that we're helping fuel the fire for someone else's promotion bid while we give the money to Kalvin Phillips who isn't even our player.

In Brooks' position, it appears that he doesn't get on especially well with his boss, he can go and live in a nice quiet part of the world, earn more money on a long contract and play for a club that seems a bit more serious about getting promoted than what we are.

He was a really bright spark last season & enjoyable to watch. We potentially could have had a fun group of young players to watch this season with Brooks, Seriki, Peck & One but unfortunately I’d be surprised if more than one of them is still here come the start of the season.

A tad older, will be on a tad more money, already sold once for more than what Brooks was. Yep, that would be a better financial proposition for sure
