Seen that Newcastle and West Brom are ‘keeping tabs’ on Connor Coady. Think he’d be the final peice for me.

RC: "Maupay and his agent now touting themselves around again as the higher end interest never materialised but think we’ve moved on"
What, that you don't look to be signing your "No.1 Target" for this transfer window?
Strange cause for satisfaction, I'd have thought.
Still, if we can manage to keep him until the window shuts, which is looking increasingly likely, then that will be our "No.1 Target" achieved.
Which would be satisfying indeed.

He may have been CW’s no.1 target but the majority on here preferred McBurnie. Looks like most of us are happy with the way things turned out. Now you have no reason to be on here trying to score points. Fuck off.RC: "Maupay and his agent now touting themselves around again as the higher end interest never materialised but think we’ve moved on"

Genuine question.......how many players (and who) have we let go/sold that we wanted to/should have kept? I assume most would have kept Brooks but as he funded other incoming players, it wasn't too much of a loss was it?JOC to Leicester for £25 million
Fleck to West Ham for £10 Million
How does that sound?

We'll be back in for Neal next summer if Brentford don't go up. Its how we work! #400 pages

You are assuming that the deal never materialised because of NM and his Agent being BTC's.Its more of a fuck you to big time charlies!
You were asking for the same amout weve just paid for McBurnie thickoYou are assuming that the deal never materialised because of NM and his Agent being BTC's.
Yet according to Richard Cadette, the Agent at least was eventually satisfied.
Now maybe NM on his own decided that he could get better elsewhere, and so turned you down?
But here's a more plausible explanation. The Agent started touting NM around some time back and realised SU were in the market for a striker. He spoke to you, saw you were v.interested, briefly overplayed his own hand (commission), but backed off so as not to scupper the deal. Terms were agreed between SU, player and agent.
SU then spoke to BFC, who were asking more than you were hoping/expecting/prepared to pay. In the end, CW would not go over his limit, as is his usual modus operandi, BFC would not go below it, as is ours, and so SU declined to lodge a bid (no point).
Which was the real reason NM's head wasn't in the right place: his best (only?) chance of getting his move to the PL this window now looked like foundering, because neither BFC or SU would budge.

As it stands, I think McBurnie is a far better fit for us right now because he offers us more in his all round play than Maupay and is more of a physical presence. Hopefully Sharp will step up to the mark again, he’s the closest striker we’ve got to Maupay, although he hasn’t quite got the pace he had when he was the same age he makes up for it in experience. If not and you’ve still got him in January we might come a calling again.RC: "Maupay and his agent now touting themselves around again as the higher end interest never materialised but think we’ve moved on"

Genuine question though new bee. How's that make you feel? Having arguably your biggest asset running around touting himself (via his agent) freely and quite openly? You are assuming that the deal never materialised because of NM and his Agent being BTC's.

Thing is, we never wanted to sell him, nor do we need to. And now it doesn't look like we will be selling him, either (fingers crossed).Yes, as achievements go you have a player who wants to leave, clearly doesn't want to remain with Brentford as this window has revealed
Every single player on our books is expected to leave one way or another - we're fucking Brentford after all, not fucking Barcelona.....if nothing else you know you have a player who will eventually leave, probably sooner rather than later. Very satisfying I'd have thought.
Thing is, we never wanted to sell him, nor do we need to. And now it doesn't look like we will be selling him, either (fingers crossed).
Of course, if he's been distracted by PL interest which will not now be fulfilled, then that is unfortunate. But it is not something we caused, since we were never touting him around in the first place (quite the opposite, in fact).
So in the absence of some last-minute knock-out bid, the only thing which remains is for the player to accept that there is no point in sulking any more.
Rather the best way for him to get his dream move to the PL will be by knuckling down and scoring as many goals for us as he can, at least until January.
And if he does, who knows, he might even get to the PL with us?
Every single player on our books is expected to leave one way or another - we're fucking Brentford after all, not fucking Barcelona.
The only question is whether they leave on terms acceptable to us and thus far, NM/his agent haven't managed to pull off a deal that is, so he stays.
But if/when we should decide the time is right for him to go, for whatever reason, then we will be open to offers, as usual.
Every time we sign a player, it is in the hope that we can help him develop into a better one.I mean, this is all just lovely, but you're looking at starting the season with a striker who has very very publicly been pushing for a move. He even needed some days off to get his head straight.
Except we didn't. For if SU were happy, we were happy, and his agent was happy (as Richard Cadette claimed), then the only person who can have prevented the move going through would have been the player himself. You accepted a figure for him (NO BIDS!) and wanted him to go. But, he was holding out for the really big move... which sadly for Maups just hasn't come.
Just how focused will he be while he's thinking of other clubs and the homeland?
Thank you. He might be on the bench, but who knows, he might even start, since even though he's not been playing psf's, he has still been training.very good player but not for us at this time. Will he be ready for Birmingham match?
Good luck for next season btw

CW clearly thought he could do a job in the PL.So yeh good look with your number 1 target, the championship is still a decent level and maybe it’s his level or so most top teams think
But not enough to make a bid?CW clearly thought he could do a job in the PL.
