Brentford fans are convinced Maupay is leaving on their forum. I think their version of RC has confirmed it. Doesn’t say where

False alarm. Sounds like this was a mix up and he’s actually just got a knock - which was why he’s out of the friendly tomorrow....

Never mind - 3 in a week was always gonna be a push!

"If he’s refusing to play this early in the pre-season then it will be very difficult to get his full value in the transfer market.

If true I suspect Sheff U because Wilder is a shithouse and spent a long time trying to unsettle Egan as well."

Haha. Love that comment.

Tom I was going to start a thread on the Egan comment - read the Brentford fans views when we signed Egan (wish I knew how to attach their thread or Roy's views) the two faced twats - they really think they are Barcelona not a club who have achieved fuck all in their history. Their arrogance makes my piss boil!

The Daily Mirror are now running a story specifically about us going for Maupay.

Could it be a case of the media getting hold of it late and thinking it's at an early stage even though it's advanced?

Sheffield United looking at Maupay
Promoted Sheffield United are trying to pull off an audacious record swoop for prolific Brentford striker Neal Maupay.

French forward Maupay,22, smashed 28 goals for the Championship Bees last season.

Now United boss Chris Wilder is trying to add him to the Blades’ squad to take on the Premier League.

Wilder has already broken the Bramall Lane club’s transfer record once this week bringing in Luke Freeman from QPR.

The undisclosed deal eclipsed the £4m United paid for John Egan last summer from Brentford.

But any move for Maupay will smash that figure.

Brentford are believed to be demanding well over £15m for the forward signed from St Etienne for £1.7m in July 2017, which has cooled rival interest from Aston Villa.

My thoughts exactly. Egan has gone from a journeyman not good enough for their first XI, to some superstar who Wilder stole on the cheap.

His quality was always there but the deluded muppets couldn't see it. Suddenly he is doing it week In, week out for us and they cry foul!

You expect the deluded big club shit from South Barnsley, West Brom etc but Brentford?
Really?
Surely even QPR and Fulham don't see them as rivals, so why the silly bastards think they are so massive takes mind bending drug levels of stupidity.

Cockney wankers!

(I know all about the Bow Bells, but these knobheads just sum up the entitled capital city mentality).

This will be Brentford / Agent leaking the story to generate more interest. I honestly don’t see us pulling this one off.

It was sunburn with Maguire...

Anyone else think that signing Maupay would be a mistake? I just don't see it...what does he have that would worry Premier League defenders?

Pace - No
Strength - Not really
Height - No

Granted he can finish chances in the box, but isn't that what we have Billy for? I think we need more than what he can offer, not worth the fee in my opinion.

That's an incredibly shit analysis of what Maupay provides.

Richard Cadette said the deal was nearly done so we must be in for him and talks/negotiations have taken place.

Fingers crossed that it comes off.

where was RC's prediction on Jags then?

To be fair RC doesn't post much, and Jags in his interview today said it came around really quick and was signed in "Minutes" not days.

Jags was training with Burnley yesterday, which gives indication of how quickly this one progressed.

I dont know because I'm not him but perhaps his contact wasn't aware of it??? I wouldn't expect RC to know every single transfer in and out of the club would you?

Possibly, or it just happened within a couple hours. Free agents are a little different to a purchase from another club.

yeah fair play, I do think he might have been touting himself elsewhere (burnley and also seen glasgow last week) to maybe hurry Wilder along and to force his hand before we missed out... who knows, I dont know how this stuff works

It's clear the Jagielka deal went through quick as up till yesterday he was training with Burnley. Not sure what changed or why we weren't in for him earlier but things move fast in football. My guess would be we were looking elsewhere but didn't feel the player(s) were worth what was being quoted by their club so we turned to Jags.
