We’ve got to be looking at buying Hendo. It’s not ideal for us to be using one of our 2 loans on a keeper.

If we’re only planning on loaning one other player and buying the rest, what’s the issue? If we loan Henderson it’ll be because it fits within Wilder’s broader recruitment plans.

Quite opposite for me. Maupay could be our Callum Wilson type signing. Allen is the type of midfielder we desperately need in the premier league.
Maupay ok finisher but £20m too much. Better spent on Norwthe unlocking defeBetter proven PL finishers Wilson was a league one £3m signing so minimal risk. OK at £

Not at £20m though.

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2018/19 (Download PDF, size: 8.39MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.

A couple of issues are that he couldn’t play against Man Utd so we’d need to buy another keeper good enough to play in those games, also some of the players we’ll need might only be available to loan due to their wages been too high.

Like you say though, if Wilder is able to bring the quality in aswell as the Hendo loan then all’s well and good.

Yes, you’re allowed two in August and two in January.

We can only buy him if Man U are willing to sell him

CW said, a sale was never discussed, so I'm assuming Man U don't wish to move him on ............................. yet
Obviously. :)

I think Man Utd would sell for the right fee, they don’t do young English goalkeepers.

I may be reading this wrong, but it looks like the restrictions could be between English teams only?
'' restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.''

I do like Henderson, I really do. But he’s not the finished article and is still weak on crosses. We’d be developing him for another year, accepting some mistakes, without ultimately reaping the benefits. I know he’s a fans’ favourite and he is very talented, but we shouldn’t be sentimental. If a deal can be done and it fits our overall strategy great, but I personally wouldn’t use one of our two loan signings to secure him for next season.

Yes I think that is correct, some loans from abroad aren’t even counted as loans officially.

It depends what the alternative is, though, and if his loan means there are more funds available to buy other needed players, then that's one of the benefits reaped.

No 1 target is Neal Maupay. Initial interest in Kalvin Philips, Joe Allen ( in last year of contract ) and Daniel James. Although realisation it’s a big wish list. Henderson to return on loan nearly sorted, and a free transfer back up keeper to be signed. All other loanees to return to parent clubs.
I assume that isn't the definitive list.

If we are letting go the loanees then that would leave only Billy and McGoldrick as recognised strikers. Add Maupay and you still only have three. I suppose you could push James up there but it would appear to leave the squad unbalanced.

Perhaps Wilder also sees Philips as an alternative to Basham as well as a solid defensive midfielder.

CW is always ambitious bordering on unrealistic with transfer targets (remember Coady?). Good that he's aiming high but I'm sure most if not all of this summer's signings will be very different especially if, as RC suggests, 4/5 of the loans are going back to their clubs.

I would see Marshall at Hull City being the cover keeper who we will bring in on a free. He's also out of contract this summer and Hull want to off load his wages as he came in (and had a very good season for them) when they were in the Premier. He would come and be great competition and add experience to us for not much money all in. He also uswd to be Simon Moores teammate and is very highly rated still. He will be the one i reckon.

Also think we will bring in another centre half and a target man. Could see us going for Webster at Bristol City and Madine may be an option later in the summer. Let Cardiff pay his wages through the summer and then make a move for him if other options havent materialised. Wouldnt be surprised to still see Madine arrive after we have gone after initial targets. Also, i would also have gone after Dowell as i think he has lots of potential to grow with us, but he would bea squad player not a starter for me.

Right crock of shit that. 2 loans in but Chelsea have about 40 out on loan.

Can Daniel James play behind a front two?

Dowell is out of contract at the end of this month ,surely he is worth a punt

I think Daniel can play wherever the hell he likes. Just give him the ball, he runs like hell with it and creates havoc. He can do this as a winger, or as a number 10, the result is the same.
Edit. He is so good I can't believe we'd be able to get him.

Targets will of course change as players become, or stop being, available. What’s most interesting from that comment then is the suggestion that we will not be pursuing deals for Madine or Hogan, which would be an encouraging sign that regardless of specific targets we’re aiming higher with our recruitment for that area.
