please let me start by saying I do not blame the fans for today.

My first away game of this season ..what an embarrassment both on and off the pitch.
We were on the very front row

We really have got some dick head fans .

Today I saw fans very close to battling with each other, Crewe stewards being subjected to an absolute shed load of vile abuse for no real reason just because one knob thought he didn't need to sit in his seat - he just wanted to sit on the concrete, one fan announced to everyone around on 60 mins or so " I am going I can't watch this shit - then stayed of course,, a mass argument about things being better under clough, coutts called a f in useless negative c... When he was a yard or two way ... Same for Hammond .. You get my drift.

I've paid the same money as everyone today , and am as furious with the state we are in but for Christs sake boys don't go if you can't handle it.

If abuse has to be thrown then can't it wait until the end ( it was pretty nasty at the end today ) rather than fight each other and berate the players during the game .

Yes they were crap today but i came away ashamed of some blades fans behaviour today .

same thing happened with Doyle 3 years ago at Crewe when we lost 1 nil and were collectively crap.

Doyle (to be fair) gave it back.

It's no reason, but when the fans are looking at a 6th year in this division then it causes tension and yes, some can't handle it.

UTB

Making no excuses for the individual verbal attacks but at the end ( like vale and Oldham before) frustrations come tumbling out and whether it's your thing or not it's perfectly understandable. We just cannot carry on accepting the utter drivel we are constantly served up with a polite subdued clap at the end

To be honest, it's got to the stage now where I think the more abuse the players receive, the better. It's only what they deserve for robbing this club blind every single week. And it could hardly make them play any worse. If they've got anything about them it should actually wind them up and make them give everything they've got.

Showing the players what we thought of them at the end was by far the best part of the day.

Think its frustration, no need for violence, but think the players don't deserve applause at the end.

I've said it before but it's a shame the players don't have a fraction of the passion the fans have.
I cannot blame anybody losing it.
Some of these overpaid fairies should go and play for the likes of Crewe in front of 3-4 k and then realise how lucky they are to be playing for our beloved club. Wankers

There is definitely a lack of spirit, passion and heart throughout the side.

When was the last time anyone saw a Sheffield United throw his body in to a 20/80 ball that he had no chance of winning

When was the last time you saw a Sheffield United player stand up to an opponent bullying him or dishing it out

When was the last time you saw a Sheffield United go out on the pitch are look like he was prepared to die for the cause.

I've not seen it for years, but what we have got is a collection of wimps, who have all got the hipster side parting and beards, and the shit sleeve tattoos, but have we got any men? Have we fuck.

Went in '99 to Crewe and Wayne Quinn copped for it that day. At left back he was practically right next to the bloke giving him stick, well for 45 minutes anyway.

Said it on another thread but it's worrying (for the state of the team/club) when the away support is giving it 'um. If they're playing shit, then I think fans are well within their rights to let the players/team/club know it.

I knew the OP would be a bit controversial and attract the "I've paid my money I will say and do what I want " approach and I do get that.. It's a free country .
But people behind me started moaning and abusing after about 15 minutes .. Starting with Hammond .hammond you're a cunt fuck off back to Leicester you're shit was one shout .. Looked at my watch at that point .. 3.16 . Granted he was rubbish today but I just think quite a few of the fans around me went too far today even accounting for it being really poor .

And I for one are glad you did Ricky.

Hurling abuse at players / people actually says more about the person hurling the abuse than the intended target. In what other walk of life is it acceptable? If your chicken is served cold in the restaurant do you stand up and shout "fucking wanker piss off home" to the waiter? No, because everyone around you would think you were a twat. Somehow on the terraces it's okay because you've paid to get in.
Can't make them play worse? You want to bet on that? A lot of these players are pretty young and although a few might use it to play better, but I would think most would start to doubt their own abilities - or decide they don't want to make an effort for the tossers abusing them every time they play footy. Either way, I can't see it making them play better overall.
I'm with Silverfox. If you hate it that much you resort to abuse - I mean proper, nasty abuse - then don't go. Don't buy another ticket / season ticket. Where is the pleasure? Where is the sense? It's not as if it's a big surprise, being a Blade, is it?
Have some dignity, is what I say.

The cup run(s) under Clough.

I sometimes wonder what affect this verbal abuse has on the players when they're well within earshot and they're the target of the abuse. It must deal a hammerblow to their confidence. I'd like to think they manage to blank it out but I doubt that's the case somehow.

I'd like to think they would be built of the right stuff and think 'f**k you, I'll show you, you c**t' and get stuck into it, prove people wrong. We've our set of shrinking violets I doubt it somehow.

The sexist chants towards the lino definitely crossed the line. That's not being PC, it was just fucking embarrassing.

This was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever experienced as a Blade. I think it was more the volume due to the amount of small minded twats singing it. Everyone can get caught up in the moment, but there was a few different chants and I'm glad they found other things to amuse their incredibly small minds with.

Same at Oldham, were a big team, with big support and a bunch of piss heads on the pitch....

Hearing an 80 odd year old bloke threatening to wrap his walking stick around a boo boy's earhole (and shaking said walking stick in the boo boy's direction menacingly) was one of the only times I managed to raise a smile all game.

Shit! I didn't think anybody had seen me!

Seriously, I wouldn't dream of going to an away match. It's getting hard enough going to BDTBL. The only reason most of the young kids go - and the reason for their behaviour - is to get pissed. And let's face it, what else is there to do?
