I'm puzzled by the comparisons between Coutts and Norwood. At the time Coutts had that mind-numbing injury (an assault by any description) he was head and shoulders as good a midfield player that this division deserved. I couldn't wait to see how he'd compete at Prem level as his play suggested he'd be more than able and willing.

With the horrendous injury we were deprived of a great player, so signing Norwood had all the ingredients of having found someone to add that extra dash of quality to our play. It took Norwood some time to show his value but when it appeared, were we the lucky ones or what? Both players had different skill-sets, but to be honest we'll never know just how good Coutts could have become, and in many ways the same applies to Norwood. So bicker away, I happened to love watching the Rolls-Royce of a midfielder that Coutts had become, so no matter how dismissive anyone is of the talent he brought to our team (and I'm not forgetting the contributions of Duffy and Fleck in driving that midfield), to my eyes Coutts oozed class. As for Oliver, why squabble, and over what exactly? Both excellent players on their day but both different but crucial to where we wanted to be.

I appear to have been "lumped" on as simillar to you. I'm fine with that. My apologies if you aren't.

I am okay about it. As quick as the ball comes across the net, it's returned at blistering speed down the channels or straight back at their feet.

'Stats'. Sky Bet 'Stats'.

But it’s not 😂😂😂😂

It is in your head but not in anyone else’s reality

You are entertaining and amusing though I will always give you that

Again, you are guilty of making up someone else's mind for them. How narcissistic.

You've already pleaded that our opinions differ but to leave it, then to be respectful about it, whilst carrying on the argument and saying I 'talk crap'

You're a basket of contradictions. And still no evidence of Norwood's brilliance above 'stats'

Ok 😂

Agree he has picked it up lately but the amount of ground he covers has always gone unnoticed, he covered more ground than any Blade while in the PL and was in the top 10 in the whole PL for ground covered. He is as slow as a snail so often we think he’s not doing the running or running back, he is but he’s just so slow but he certainly racks up the miles in a game and will probably still be our no 1 for ground covered.

Oi think we can safely assume he hasn’t got any faster so he’s obviously putting more in when chasing back. He also seems to be making far more big tackles. Those two things alone are the reason he’s looking better.

In the PL the ground covered is possibly because he had the run around a lot. Not saying for one minute you have suggested it but in the first PL season he was part of a team that clicked rather than someone who made the team tick. Baldock/Basham and O’Connell/Stevens , and Fleck, were far more important than Nollywood.

I appreciate his good games and his form upturn. He’s very good when we are on top in games. Coutts drove us forward more effectively.

As for Coutts, - big fan - who knows how he would have fared at a higher level. When someone suggests he didn’t get a contract because he wasn’t as good as Norwood makes you wonder how much they know about our club.

Coutts got more slating off here than Norwood, I took some abuse for praising him, love to dig up some of those old threads about Coutts and Norwood. Some people hate good footballers.

Coutts wasn’t rated when playing wide on the right. Opinions changed when he went central and was an absolute joy y to watch.

This 100 per cent. Though I don't want to go full Pinchy, I also remember several posters slagging off Kevin MacDonald in the Ched season for being too lazy etc. etc.

Ollie Norwood is a superb footballer and a joy to watch when he's in full flow, directing play and seeing things half a second before others. I agree that to see him in person makes him appear so much better than on TV.

One criticism I have is that he doesn't score or at least get more free kicks on target. He can regularly put a ball on a sixpence when passing it 40 to 60 yards several times a game. Pop a goal 30 yards in front of him and he's no chance of getting it near.

Sitters, it's a typical bloke myopia, unable to see beyond their belief that because they say something it must be immutable. It will extend beyond football, be it politics, their view of women, various or specific minorities, it won't matter one jot. All that does matter is an opinion that transforms into a belief system, on a par if you like with those who embrace the theology of religions and remain blind to behaviour that has been revealed as disgraceful.

Let's be right, it's football for fuck's sake, not a cure for cancer. By all means state your preference, but do you think that anyone really cares?

I was just commenting on his running back and thought I’d mention the ground he covers as it’s often missed because he’s so slow, but he has consistently been our no1 for ground covered.

I’m not getting into the chat on how good he is because I’ve a love/hate relationship with Norwood that’s all I’m saying 👍

I think that last paragraph sums it up for a few of us.

3 promotions out of the division.
I don't know how pivotal he was to Brighton & Fulham's but he certainly was to ours.
I also don't know how pivotal he was but he played a lot of games

36 for Fulham and 33 for Brighton, 43 for us in the promotion season.

A very good player at this level for several years
