Gone are the days of “tell him he’s Pele and send him back out” :)

Bit troubling these injuries but glad we’re moving on. So sick of reading about Super Leeds.
Same here mate on the blades 24/7 news there is more stories about Leeds than there is about the Blades and has been of the last 3 months

once again would take a point although bristol city are nothing special and they got a comfortable win there last saturday so dont think theyve that much to worry about definetly rest o'hare and play brewster up top with moore or campbell

Wilder press conference

Carrick presser live from 2pm

If so, then Wilder has hit Hecky levels of 'can't trust anything he says in the presser'. Hope you're wrong pal

Just what was being said on Twitter that he was Concussed so it might be bollocks of course..

Boro won 2 drawn 2 at home ,lost their last 2 games so may be rocky, Wilder should go at em from the start, don't be negative
Cooper
Gilchrist Anel Souttar Burrows (if injured ) McCallum
Rak-Sakyi Hamer Arblaster, OHare
Brewster Moore

at the risk of being called a loser & pessimistic. is there a chance wilder was looking long term. he knew we had 3 games in a week & after leeds we've got 5 games in 18 days & if you can rest some attacking talent. instead of spending 90 mins defending & leave them fresher for boro & stoke

as if we 6 pts out of 9. people will forget about leeds

Wilder to play defensive again rather than going for it. 3-0 home side.

If he is in fact concussed then that's negligence on the part of the club to leave him on the pitch
It was crazy how quickly he bounced back up and played on. Modern day footballers don't do this. surprised no one checked him over.

Assuming Hamer and Souza are out and by the sound of it, Burrows.

Cooper

Gilchrist Souttar Ahmedhodzic McCallum

Peck Arblaster

JRS O’Hare Brooks

Moore

I know O’Hare hasn’t been doing well of late but with three enforced changes already I think you need some continuity.

Apart from the Leeds brainfart, O’Hare, Moore and JRS were becoming a settled trio. I’d like to see Brooks providing some natural width. I think him and McCallum could provide an interesting left side.

Probably a toss up between Peck and Shackleton but Peck seems a little better on the ball and he doesn’t lack confidence so I’m going for him.

Brewster to come on early enough to make an impact. But as with him, I don’t want to over-risk Norrington-Davies’ fitness.

Like the team except for Peck.. cant see a Peck/Arblaster combo working

I get you. That’s my reservation too.

But who do you pick?

Shackleton is very small and has only played full back for us so far. Not seen him to suggest he’ll be a good foil for Arblaster. Davies not fit.

This is the issue when lacking that bit of extra depth, especially if Hamer is out.

You could play Norrington-Davies at left back and McCallum on the left of Arblaster. I think I read he could play there. He’s mobile.

But that’s the problem. Without Davies being fit, we are just a body light in such situations.

Hamers fit

Yes you're right. I'm sure both players are aware of that more than anyone. They're not bad players though all of a sudden. I think they will come good for us.
I would love Moore to score as I am fed up listening to fans of other teams (including Wales) asking me why on Earth we signed him.

“Right lads, a good performance tonight and you can keep the action figurines we made for each of you.”

Need to be far more aggressive tonight than we were on Friday. We never went looking for the win vs Leeds and were rightly punished for it. It was generally a below-average performance by the individuals, but the poor tactical approach was what killed any hopes we had of a result. Hopefully we go back to what got us to the top of the league tonight.

I'd consider using Anel in the Souza position tonight. No other midfielder we have is really capable of performing that role, and I feel like Anel might handle that one quite comfortably. I'd also bring in Rak-Sakyi for O'Hare, and Gilchrist for Souza. If Burrows isn't fit, move Norrington-Davies to full back and bring Robinson in. Play in more of a 433 than the 4231 that we have been adopting so far.

Cooper

Gilchrist, Souttar, RND/JLT, Burrows (if fit)

Anel

Arblaster Shackleton

Rak-Sakyi Hamer

Moore

Changing to a 3 in midfield would free up Blaster to be more expressive. He'd have reduced defensive responsibilities by being moved forward, as well as having a man alongside him in Shackleton who will do a ton of work off the ball to press and force mistakes. That all releases Blaster to be more forward thinking, and he can look to support attacks as he has done well this season.

O'Hare has been mostly ineffective at best so far, so I think now is a reasonable time to take him out of the spotlight. JRS has been very impressive so far, especially vs Luton, and not having a CAM like we have had to this point, would result in him having a bit more space to work with when he chooses to come infield. You have a similar situation for Moore as well, who has struggled to find space when having to share central areas with O'Hare, resulting in a lot of his better moments coming from wide areas (see his contribution to the 2nd goal at Hull).

I just hope we play in Hamer is a position that he can be more effective. He's already got 4 goals from the wing but we don't get to see the best of him, and it reminds me of when England shifted Scholes out to the left to accommodate other players. The difference is though, Hamer is one player we shouldn't look to move to accommodate, he needs the team building round him.

Tonight is the perfect opportunity to move him centrally with Souza out, but I can't see Wilder doing it. I'm expecting Shackleton in place of Souza, or Peck who I don't think is ready to be starting games.

First game without Souza.
Never mind 5 at the back , Wilder will probably have 6 at the back.
Entire game to be played in our half.
Then Wilder will blame the players again.
I've said the above "tongue in cheek" , but I am getting vibes of 2021 Wilder

There's a very good reason I'm not a football manager - I'd be fucking useless. But as far as I'm concerned Wilder doesn't have a point to prove just to his former club here he has a point to prove to us and the squad that his absolute spineless mouse tactics from the Leeds game was just a dropped bollock and not a vision of how he's going to set up against teams that are closer to us in the table.

I know we should never underestimate but the respect he showed Leeds was an embarrassing spectacle, made them seem like Arsenal. He needs to go in with attack for me and play to win this game not just by a goal or so like usual but just put this game to bed as early as we can. Again, I'm not trying to make out Boro are a team to brush aside but with the squad we have we really should be able to take 3 points.

Set up cautiously like Friday and the max we get is a draw I reckon. As far as I'm concerned Cooper and Vini did well to keep the Leeds score to just 2.

We shouldn't fear going to Boro at all, they have just lost to Bristol City at home despite 69% possession so are vulnerable to counter attacks, pretty much how we won away at Hull.

Sit back with a 5 again and the result will be the same as Leeds. Be positive, 4-4-1-1 with pace on the flanks and we can get a result;

Cooper

Gilchrist
Souttar
Anel
Burrows, (McCallum if he's out)

Rak-Sakyi
Hamer, (Peck or Shackleton if he's out)
Blaster
Brooks

O'Hare

Moore, Campbell or Brewster, (don't care which one!)

I don’t have a good feeling about this game…. In many respects it validates the reason To NOT tinker against Leeds…. The way we lost at LU puts us into a very difficult position for tonight:

1. boro has lost last 2 games and won’t want to lose again,

2. Tactically what will SUFC do tonight: 90 mins of aggression or sit back and wait?

This game is the reason why I would not have done what was done at Leeds. There really is only one way to play tonight and we are without Souza….

Toledo

After 1 defeat in 10? 🤔
Have you listened to his comments before & after Leeds and before Boro ?
And seen his selection v Leeds which had us defending most of the game ?
His lineup tonight will be very revealing of his mindset.
We have shown at Leeds that if neither JRS nor Brooks plays we can hardly get out of our own half.
After 1 defeat in 10 and that defeat coming with a negative setup , I would have thought he should stick to the previously positive formation & tactics.
I know that Souza is a big loss , but stick Peck in and play the shape which has given success prior to Leeds.

Why are people questioning Hamers availability? Wilder has said he's fit, unless of course he's lying, which I don't believe .
