Is that because you don't like the colour blue, or because you're emotionally and developmentally stunted?

My car is blue (body) and white (mirror caps and roof). I bought it because I like it - I think it looks good. The fact that the rivals of the football team I prefer to support play in blue and white literally never crossed my mind, because I'm an adult and I don't refuse to consider things because of childish colour associations.
I think I'm probably emotionally and developmentally stunted - takes one to know one I guess

Half my mates were Wendyites ,back in my teens so I've been to both grounds, must admit not often because living in Heeley made it a bit of a trek unless United were playing. there,
Both my parents came from the Cross, so I suppose I'm the black sheep of the family though apart from doing the pools I don't think mi dad knew one end of a football from t'other
We moved to the Arbourthorn (Prefab) when I was six (1946) and I became a blade because my favourite colour was red....... :tumbleweed:

Football just does weird things to people. I've mentioned my Man City supporting mate before. Outside football she's a rational, intelligent human being who does a very responsible and not unstressful job. She runs most of her life in a rational way and is quite "normal ".
But. She has nothing to do with red. Won't have a red car, furniture, paint, Christmas decorations, clothes, flowers (yes!), nothing.
I think it's a bit odd and taking things to extremes. My favourite colour is red (then purple!!), but I do have the odd blue possession and I had blue car once (didn't like it though!).

I think we were his first choice but it wavered if we were struggling. It's no coincidence that Barnstoneworth were called United and played in red and white stripes.

He says as much in the commentary on the Ripping Yarns DVD (about the red and white stripes), although he also says that a lot of the episode was derived from his experiences watching Hallam FC. So there you go, we can add that to the list of endless debates such as the Annie's Song ringtone: Palin - Blade, Pig, or Countryman?

I'm the same regards blue colours.. I refuse to wear anything blue and white.. our lass bought me some gazelles for Christmas, blue and white. They were returned.

I wear blue all the time but not blue and white stripes. I refused to go into the Hertha Berlin club shop at the Olympic Stadium. I couldn't bring myself to support them during the game.

I regularly stand beside the Sprout section in Sainsburys and harangue people............
If they are good green Yorkshire sprouts no problems, but foreign wancashire or cockney farting shyster sprouts can just buggaroff

Them blokes in nightclub toilets who give you a squirt of hand-gel and a lollypop? I once refused a lolly in the bogs at The Astoria because "Chupa Chups sponsor Sheffield Wednesday". Got quite a few laughs, but then if The Astoria had been in Sheffield instead of London, I might have got a good kicking from any grunters in there.

Could be a few bob to made here, what about supplying lavatory paper in the colours of your rival team

Pretty sure he’s a Blade.

He’s explained his position in a recent radio interview. Said he was brought up at Ranmoor, his parents didn’t like football but an uncle took him to his 1st match at Bramall Lane when he was 10. Later he went with his school mates regularly to Bramall Lane up to his mid teens and his hero was Jimmy Hagan.

In his later teens he developed a big interest in his local team Hallam FC so used to watch them at Sandygate.

He then went to University aged 19 and never returned to live in Sheffield. He said he’s lived in London for decades (longer than he’s lived in Sheffield) and when a Sheffield team was playing there, he’d sometimes get invited to matches and because he still has a strong affection for his city he’s always wanted either Sheffield club to win. He admitted that altho he’s a Blade he genuinely wants both Sheffield clubs do well.

This explains why in the past he’s been seen to support Sheff Wed.

Unless you're a child under 10 that is beyond pathetic.
Some are like that, we were once going on a golf trip and the Scottish fella that worked with us said he'd pick me up to go to the airport (very nice of him)
When he arrived at our house I made him a cup of tea before we set off and gave it to him in a green mug.
He wouldn't drink it because he's a Rangers fan, so I poured it into a white cup (I didn't have any blue cups)

But how can you do that in someone else's house when they've made you a cup of tea?

Palin's a promoter of the city overall but is certainly a Blade too - he wrote the foreword to Dem Blades' 2021 Wilder issue. Gave him a copy at a screening of his Iraq show the year after and he was very happy to see it in person - not a reaction you could put on! He's a great Sheffield export regardless, lucky to have such a fond son of the city
