Roygbiv when next view from Wolves fans on MGW, seems to quite divided on if he should be recalled or not...

We never replaced Duffy and tbh he wasn’t consistent enough in the promotion season so we missed out but that said we finished 9th in the PL in our season back so ive just contradicted myself.

A unique never before seen tactic.

An incredible defensive unit

A world class goalkeeper

The three pillars that got us to 9th that season, take any one of them away and we finish 15th/17th.

Take two of those away and you get Sheffield United's 20/21 season.

He will either be recalled or won't be. In some respect I fear the more it's talked about the more likely it could happen.
If he is recalled he's the spark at the minute and has quality. On his day he's probably the best attacking mid in the league.
I don't feel like we do entirely rely on him actually but he could well be the difference between potentially making the top 6 and not.

NDiaye looked great on his debut and few moments since. He's not at the same level as MGW really least not yet.

In answer to the original post too I think that our signings are now being directed from Van Winkel and co and were even in the August/Sept Transfer window of 2020 too.
Wilder alluded to making a list of targets or positions and also picking which were his favourites. I think after this it was entirely up to the board to decide who they thought was best for the money and quality. I believe this is the case now and our signings this August were little to do with Slav aside from Adlene.

Personally I don’t think he’ll be recalled.

I reckon the player and Wolves were both prepared for him to be here all year and do well here. I don’t think either of them will be surprised by how he’s been getting on.

although he’s been our creative spark in what’s been a fairly underwhelming season so far - he’s been one of only 2/3 that’s have been worth watching at times he’s got a few areas I think Wolves will be looking for him to improve on before getting a run in the prem.

yes he’s created more chances than anyone in the squad but he’s also probably given the ball away more times than most of the squad combined. I totally understand he’s going to give the ball away more as he’s the one looking for the killer pass or trying to beat his man over and over BUT there have been times where he’s attempted back heels and flicks inside our own half immediately after we’ve been under the cosh, or delayed a pass slightly and missed out on an opportunity. In the Premier league he would get pressed harder and will get punished for mistakes.

he’s also got that petulent side to his game where he seems to be a bit mardy at times, gets a bit mouthy and goes down a bit easily at times. They’ll be looking for him to play with his head a little bit more I reckon.

im not bashing him, hes been a joy to watch at times - I just think seeing out the loan will benefit him more than going and getting the odd few minutes here and there.

As for N’Diaye being his replacement if he does go. In terms of ability they’re close but MGW is definitely a few steps ahead in terms of development. Hopefully we’ll see them both in the same team more between now and the end of the season.

Anyone heard anything about if/when he’ll be back & available?
James Shield said the day before the Luton game that the word from us and from Wolves is that he was about 2 weeks away. If that is right I wouldn't expect to see him this week but he might make Birmingham.

Heck said in his Covid interview that he was first day training on the grass down at Wolves that was 7/10 days ago? So 14/20 days from there seems right..till he gets Covid

Is "on the grass" the most annoying term in football?

Is it a Wilderism that's stayed with the club or is it used in other clubs as well?

For some reason it pisses me off.

Exactly. Where else they gonna train, on styrofoam?

"Under the lights" as well, not gonna play an evening game in the dark are they?

I thought it was to differentiate from in the gym.

So it's a stepping stone from non contact fitness to training for matches.

Under the lights is a purely an emotive term, to express the different atmosphere of night games.

More importantly, great to hear he's back with us.

Now we need van dyk and pogba and promotion is on

I think it can first be found in print dated circa 1992. It originated in the Hillsborough/Middlewood area of Sheffield when Trevor Francis declined to sign Eric Cantona.
