So presumably, from the hyper ventilations on here, this scenario has never worked....ever....

I don't know if it has, but I suspect not to a club in our situation.

I think people are not impressed due to:

a) Other disasters of clubs playing in grounds owned by nice grey haired old men
b) Kevin McCabes recent decision making successes (managers/hotels/foreign clubs/world cup bids)

One thing it has done, in spades, is take everyones minds off signings (or lack of), players holding out and players being paid huge amounts to clutter up our bench/treatment room.

Sorry to be blunt about this Grecian, but the rest of your post wasn't what I asked.

And you have answered this without knowing if it has worked or not...

So, back to the floor....

Hey fellas - chillax. What could possibly go wrong?

The reason Man City was so cheap was because they didn't own their ground. They pay rent to the council which is dependent on how many fans they get through the door.

Tottenham were not bought out by Roman Abromovich because of the cost of their real estate. Chelsea was in the mire so was alot cheaper. It was nearly a done deal
I really don't the true intentions of McCabe but I can't knock him too hard for finding a way to get some money back and protect us at the same time.. if that is what he is doing.

to rent or to own.. one of lifes' many conundrums.. i could get a new scirocco on 'lease' but it isn't the same as owning my golf.. funny thing is i'm not arsed about houses.. that is the missus.. it must be a mind thing.. do you actually 'need' to own your own ground??

So far nobody has been able to think of a case when this hasn't worked. Its only the ones where the rogue chairman has fcuked the club over and bled them dry that people remember.

And I'm sure that will spark many of you to say: "ah, but McCabe has fcuked us over and bled us dry"

Not sticking up for him because he has made some awful decisions, but fcuking us and bleeding us dry... i'm not so sure

Whilst ever there is silence from him on this issue then it is only going to lead to speculation and uncertainty.

I don't understand why it is so difficult for him to communicate clearly what is happening and even opening himself up to a decent journalist and/or fans forums - surely the fans and shareholders are at least owed that.

Strikes me if there is nothing to worry about then the commonsense thing is to put it to bed.

As for the ground ownership examples. I think we can take Man City out of the equation as isn't their ground council owned (in a one club council as well) and that's a very different scenario to being owned by a private property developer for many reasons.

Spot on Tunsy.

If he said 'PLC will be charging £500k per annum to the football club for use of the facilities and I am doing this to clear some of my loans' etc then it would help. He would then of course need to stress that measures have been taken to ensure that SUFC play at BTDBL but then again I am struggling tot hink how this could be done and wouldn't believe him anyway.

The problem with that is (as Mic has posted already) there are a number of people who don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth and there are some who take everything he says as complete gospel and so all it would do is spark another row.

Appreciate the point but whatever the level of trust or mistrust with McCabe you cannot run a football club that relies on its fans to stay in existence on the basis of not telling them what's going on cos they won't believe you either way

The club has a duty to explain what is going on and then it has a duty to answer questions and concerns about what it has said. The local media has a duty to probe and to hold the club to account on behalf of its readers/listeners/United fans.

Dont you think the Stir and Radio Sheffield do enough damage to United. Many Blades fans ignore them both
The only local journo I would trust would be Alan Biggs

RS had a piss poor segment on this this morning. Some "expert" on football finances from Hallam Uni who hadn't done his homework so couldn't pass any comment and Rob Piggy Staton droning on that it all means administration.

I doubt Biggs would want to dig into the truth of what is going on for fear of risking any of his relationship with the club and therefore his freelance income from selling his stories to locals and nationals. Which is understandable.

A news reporter should be tasked with getting their teeth into it but whether the Star has the resources, nouse, talent, inclination etc these days to do it is a doubt.

Why not ring the number on the letter? I am sure most of you have seen it or is it just too much money for you? Least Brownie had some brass balls about him last year

Running up ridiculous, unaffordable wage bills, all the time "on the slate" in terms of monies owed back to McCabe, building a hotel and enterprise centre then taking them away from the club on the grounds that its losing money (why the fuck didnt Forsyth (owner, K Mccabe) try harder to rent out the space in the years HIS company were the letting agents??)... until all we have left is to give the McCabes the stadium to pay him back for all his 'mistakes'. we've been done up like a kipper!

But its all within his own personal wealth isn't it? Its not like he's borrowed highly from the banks etc like the pigs did, he's the one thats got the debts out of it...

I think McCabes listened to the fans too much and spunked too much money on over paid, over rated players... before we went down this road we had a decent philosophy and basis...

Listened to the fans my arse! He got Robson and Robinson in who between them spent vast 'fortunes' we didnt have. My point was its very easy to keep playing the big blade card and tipping your money in when you can just turn around at the end of it and convert these 'loans' into equity and steal the fucking stadium by way of repayment.
