Merson shows exactly what was wrong with his generation of pundits where they just turned up and assumed knowledge because they’d played the game. No research, minimal insight they just rate what they know. If big clubs aren’t after someone they’re rubbish, foreign teams can’t be as good as English sides if they don’t know the players and if there’s not a huge media push behind a team they’re fodder for the big clubs.
He’s never had an original thought in his life, and he’s picking Newcastle to hammer the newly promoted side by the default 3-0. I’d be shocked if he could tell you any of players or how we play.
