Just got in, and the Mrs said McCabe was interviewed on Town Hall steps and mentioned meeting in London and sorting out financial backing for Chris. Anyone else catch it??
Most probably Look North, as Team didnt get to Town Hall till well after Calendar finished.
Or has she been on the afternoon wine, and dreamt it :(

Glad it's being done and sorted early.
Get those signings in nice and quickly ready for a full pre season. We have seen the benefit of the players who get one with the current management team.

Odd he's at the Lane Sunday with the Prince only then for both to travel down to London for the budget meeting, to then come back to Sheffield for the parade

Obviously meeting high powered bankers for the big push next season :D

Not been funny but this should have been sorted out in January and I believe it will have been, the fact its public knowledge we have already signed Ched and we seem to be very strongly linked with another couple of names suggests it has been. Maybe this Meeting is to discuss increasing an already agreed budget

Confirmed signing Ched soon in clip on RS.

Actually he is wrong to say he is a wholly innocent man. Ched has a conviction for dishonesty after claiming it lost on insurance when he was subsequently found to be using it #fmbladechedfacts

It sounds to me that the move came from him in a form of vengeance, just my impression

Still talks about bad luck though.
Granted he made some mistakes, he hired people many thought would do the job, but not much of it was down to luck.
Just poor management and interference from on high at bad times.

But I hope he's right about us finally moving forwards, and first time in a long time we have a United fan base completely behind a manager. Let's make the most of it and push on

It would seem crazy to announce publicly what funds will be made available.
Won't it just be used to set the bar for the price of some of our potential targets?

Or because Wilder saw how he played against us for Chesterfield and decided there was still a quality player within him, which is the more likely reason.

Wilder is not the type of man to have players forced on him. When he was asked about Ched after the Chesterfield game it was obvious he was in their thoughts.

There are hotels in London which cater for the needs of rich Arabs, where they feel more comfortable and much business is done. Not much like that up here or in Scarborough.

Just comfort and a home from home feel*.

From my days in the world of international accounting........

More decent malt drunk than in the Garrick.

Sounds a bit sterile given my knowledge of wealthy arabs and the opportunities available in somewhere like London, but I'll accept your description Thornton the younger.

London does have a spectacularly good hotel scene, as does New York, so no doubt the Prince lacks for nothing in the ways of creature comforts.

There was always an inner sanctum where the likes of myself were not invited. Or welcome. Naively, I thought it must be about sheeps eyes and mocha lattes :)

And probably best that it remains that way, the less you're aware of the better. Tainted innocence is one of life's most heartbreaking conditions......think I might have a lyric stirring within me, Marshall Chess, are you still alive?!?

Meeting with the Prince in London discussing plans for next season.

Thought they would have met in Liverpool to talk about investment!

Couldn't settle up North

Oh no it can't be that can it? I heard RS Jonny Leeds tell us that Ched played poor against us for Chezzy, apart from the first 15 minutes. So that must be right. (We have to ignore the second half when he nearly scored twice).

That's right. We have to remember that, whilst we call ourselves a city, we don't have a single 5 star hotel to accommodate business people - and we don't have an airport either! Or a nice modern shopping centre with top end retailers - or a choice of really upmarket restaurants. Now, I do appreciate, being a working class lad myself, that most folks reading this won't place any value whatsoever on such things. As long as we keep the bus fares down and mend 'oles in 't road on a fairly regular basis, they'll be happy. But, I can tell you from first-hand experience that it is actually VERY important to have such facilities because it's this which brings business and commerce into the city and means that we have more money to subsidise the bus fares and mend 'oles in 't road.

Anyhow, what's more likely is that the pair of them have other business in the capital and that's why they are meeting there. And I don't think for one minute that they are meeting just about the budget for next season. If they are, they both want a good shaking up because in business you plan a minimum of 5 years ahead in terms of budget - and you set scenario's such as, "what if....we are in the Championship" so all that should be nicely agreed and in a little folder somewhere all signed off.

Given that Wilder has said they've been planning for the championship for a while I would hope that budgeting was agreed in principle months ago and it's either a proposed increase or at least just dotting the i's.

I was under the impression that further investment would come from other investors as well as our two owners.

Plus of course, we get an increased revenue to add to whatever extra funds the owners decide to put in to cover losses, and future player investment.

So, London would be a good place to hold that meeting as they wouldn't look obvious down there as they would near Sheffield. As others said, members of the Saudi royal family simply can't just hang about where thousands of unchecked folk will be wandering about constantly.
I hope the meeting was constructive.

Er, we weren't up until 8/4. Any January plans could only ever be provisional.

Of course preliminary planning can be done but I'd hope that as the Prince isn't a regular attender, Sunday's big occassion may have surprised him. If the emotion of the day got to him and he actually understands what he has bought into, then hopefully he will go back for another rummage down the sofa.

I'm not expecting the 'game changing investment' but I think we will add 4 or 5 and a couple will be in the £1m - £2m bracket. This is my just gut instinct and nothing more.
