Yes you're right. I seem to remember it now you've said that. Some people are saying it wasn't Kev who said it though but Jim Phipps? Game-Changing Investment was Scott or Simon wasn'r it? Confused? I am.
I'm pretty certain it was McCabe Pinchy, I'm sure I recall the interview where he said 'Game changing actually', but I think it's history now. Let's see what they come up with if Wilder asks.

I'm as big a board sceptic as anybody, but I don't thinks some of the anger and stick dished on this thread is warranted just yet. There's over 2 months of this window left.

I'll take that from you, mate. You don't get much wrong. How about G-C-I? I'm thinking Scott or Simon.

Addendum - you've just answered it. I'm sure one of the boys said something, sometime?...

You're right. I'm sure one of them used the actual words "game changing investment" later. Kev certainly didn't.

So "Think Liverpool" and "game-changing" were said by different people on different occasions? Interesting because they seem to be conflated.

Remembering specific statements which were never uttered by him is another one that's never ending on here

Coupled with ignoring repeated very plain and unequivocal statements from the manager about transfer policy, it almost suggests prejudice...

I wonder if McCabe knows the beetlemania type frenzy he causes on here every time he opens his trap

We've established who said what, if either statement has proved or
does prove to be untrue then the board deserve pelters as no-one corrected or changed the very public utterences. We do have a fair while until the season starts. No need to chuck brickbats yet.

Just out of curiosity, what do you define as success?

As we've just romped the league and won our first bit of silverware for 35 years, I'm assuming it's not that?
You are too right it's not, 6 years in that godforsaken division wasn't my definition of success for McCabe however it was success for Wilder as he turned the shit show around on a sixpence. You know what hooded I'm not sure what I'd define as success for McCabe but as England's fourth largest city with a support base to die for it's a lot more than weve seen in his tenure so far !

Id expect us to at least consolidate and finish mid table as we've got the manager and squad to kick on with the right backing, I'm just concerned the latter isn't there. Maybe I'm too pessimistic but that's born of experience as evidenced by your quote of our first bit of silverware for 35 years and I'm old enough to remember what we won 35 years ago!

That predictive text is playing up again.....

Man talking about his own business shock. Unbelievable Jeff.

Just read through all the posts but not yet had a chance to listen to KMs interview. However the way I see it is that we start with the squad that won L 1 by a mile less a few who obviously were not going to be up to the Championship. As far as I am concerned most of those players will be good enough for the Championship. Certainly Fleck, Coutts, JOC, Moore, Billy, Bash, Lafferty, Carruthers. Others may or not be good enough like Duffy, Wright, Freeman, Lavery, Clarke and of course Ched is a complete unknown quantity. Hopefully Stevens and Baldock will make the step up. Thomas is a gamble. Surely these lads deserve the chance to prove they can play at that level? So for those calling for big "investment" what do you want? Do they want us to spend big money on 3 or 4 very expensive players who will come in on double, triple or even quadruple the wages of our current players? One of our major strengths last season was a united dressing room. Bringing in players on massive wages would certainly damage that. I think Wilders recruitment looks good. Young hungry players who will fit into the existing culture/dressing room. We obviously need at least 2 CHs and probably someone with real pace up front and getting Holmes and/or Leonard would make the squad stronger. We also need to consider that Coutts, Bash and another(?) only have a year left on their contracts so we may need money to give them new and improved contracts. If another club comes in for Fleck we may want to improve his contract too. The JTW will be very important as by then we will know which players are up to the task and which ones aren't so that will be the time to Make further investment if necessary so we need to keep some money back for that both in terns of transfer fees, wages and may be loan fees plus re-signing our current players. It would be nice to think that this will be to bolster a promotion push! History shows that just throwing money around does not necessarily buy success - we've done that for years.

Trading has a particular meaning, though. It would not include existing part-ownership of the legal interest in a U.K. limited company.

There's no way of knowing how far Corbyn or his Mao-quoting Chancellor would go, in fairness. In the bigger picture though, a block on Saudi inward investment would be the least of our problems if they get in.

So the Prince has been talking to colleagues ? Who are they as if its more of the Royal Family then that would be great ? If we were the only club owned by the Saudi Royal Family I guess they woudnt like to be 2nd best to the people who own Man City ?
He has spoken with the Sultan of Kettering, the Seventh Earl of Halifax and a few others in the Middle East with plentiful supplies of gingham cloth.

You do realise of course that there are more "Prince's" in Saudi than there are mongrel dogs of the same name in Sheffield?

I wouldn't put too much hope that we are going to be the Royal Club of Saudi. It's better to be the working man's club of Sheffield. Which is what we are already.

Agree with that 100%

No you're not, this is the man who said Europe in 5 years then proceeded to oversee 6 years in division one !! You f in hero worship him if you want but I want to see some success at some point.

We were told investment would be forthcoming in the championship, now he's already mentioned the January transfer window ! For some of us this is sounding like a familiar path, so far not one player we have signed is an automatic first team player but the bladey bladey McCabe supporters think any criticism is an 'agenda'.....Ffs the man has overseen one of the worst periods any of us can remember in our history so I'm right to be sceptical. I will wait to see the evidence before blindly following every word !

yet he is still here he could have sold up and left at any time during those 6 years but he stayed with us, take it from someone who knows him personally and keeps in touch with him from time to time, he is a born and bred blades fan he didn't invest in this club because its a well known football club he invested in this club because he loves the club and wants to see the blades be successful

The colours may appeal as well :D

FFS! The diamonds aren't making a long awaited return are they? :(

Yes
But that was a method of deferring non existent investment for another day

Bit like talk of the January transfer window when were still in the summer transfer window

Is that really what you see? I see the club finally being progressive and doing the right things. Having previously been one of McCabes biggest critics I find it only fair to recognise when they are getting it right. Good Academy, good first team, good manager and investment where needed. Do you not see this?

Mcabe sounded to have a bit of a pissed off tone at bits in that interview- possibly from the Ched saga .

Also when asked about the Prince investment said "ask him yourself "

You'd think as his 'partner ' Mcabe would know?

Funny mcabe mentioned the transfer window when he backed Warnock to get us to the PRem but failed to mention the January after when we signed Mahmoud Seck and Luton Shelton!
warnock signed these
thats 5 and a half million , so yes mccabe stumped up
vague memories of 1 or 2 dont tell the true story

Yes you're right come to think of it. Could be worse though. Imagine if our chairman ... let me think of something really embarrassing ... I don't know, wore a toupée or something ludicrous like that.

Rug Ron will sit and beg when McCabe whistles loud enough!

Or say was so keen on himself he put his name on the front of the shirts and changed the shirt design from the traditional format.

Now that would be embarrassing.
