Just a few of the comments used in commentary to describe us against Hull.

Hard to encapsulate how much of a disaster hiring Sellés was.

I’m not having a go at those that wanted a change from Wilder. That isn’t my intent.

If we’d decided to go for Cooper or Dyche you could have said fair enough..

But a bloke almost relegated Hull didn’t want to retain. Was that not a red flag.

Stripped away the confidence, the ability to defend, the physicality and character of the team.

We are just so slow most of the time. We tit about going round in circles and treat the ball like a hot potato.
Tom Davies and Danny Ings look like they can and want to go forward and make stuff happen.
Problem is, the others have got to buy into it...and rarely do.
Stop trying stupid flicks and searching long passes, both of which rarely work, and move the fucking thing forward faster...as a team.

That's what did for Selles. He wanted to play a pressing game with a team that can't run. We do look unfit. But there's something deeper. There's no spark or passion. The players look dead eyed, they look like they'd rather be elsewhere. There's no creativity. No goals. Every game now seems the same as the previous one. Trying to scrap for results. This team hasn't got the fighting spirit for a relegation scrap.

Not difficult surely. Move the ball in a forward direction, quicker and support your team mates, shoot and goals may be the outcome 🤔

I could understand Cooper

Hamer had a reasonable end to the game but even he effectively sat out 10 minutes of the second half. I had to check Matos was playing in the first half.

Lack of fitness is what Wilder said when he arrived.
Lack of fitness is what every manager says when they take over. Hecky said it post Slav and post Wilder, Wilder then said it when he came back, then Wilder said it again.

It’s bollocks and an easy excuse. Don’t sign athletes and you’ll never be fit enough, we don’t seem to have realised this yet. Our squad photo will look closer to a decent Sunday league side than a decent PL side.

They should have also added slow and lack of pace into their descriptions. This, plus a terrible midfield is what is killing us and it is mental that we've not addressed this in various windows.

Selles has gone now mate, there has been no bounce at all from the players for wilder coming back.

This is what is expected after a devastating play off final loss and the kind of form I kind of expected if wilder hadn’t had his sabbatical.

Wilder teams if they do well, catch the crest of waves, there is not one sign of that here.

Playing 361 with an uninterested striker is just a bit criminal, get the lad some help because he’s literally
Playing with a whole half to himself.

The only thing I will say, is that for all our faults, people are still trying to do certain bits...

O'Hare is still tirelessly pressing
Campbell is still making runs
Mee is still marshalling the defence
Tanganga is still looking composed
Davies is still trying to show for and carry possession
Hamer is still trying to find space
Ogbene is still driving forward

It's all just a little lacklustre in between those fleeting moments above. The top 3-4 players when they link up, really show a difference - we have segments of 3-4 passes where say Campbell/Hamer/O'Hare/Davies knock the ball about with one touch, instinctive passes. Beyond those moments it's pensive, it's tentative, it's hesitant. We're taking an extra touch and probably overthinking too.

We have a less experienced squad, with fewer EFL caps and fewer goals. We are a weaker squad - Anel and Souza are key, classier, experienced performers to lose at this level.
