McAtee pants down

What I meant was, the scouts had watched him loads and decided he was the player for us.

It seems he was written off after 45mins of his first ever game in professional league football.
That’s not the same as always trusting scouts and coaches. People are fallible and all teams make huge mistakes based on preconceptions, small sample sizes, games against your team, agents being persuasive etc

I think McAtee deserves the credit mostly. He changed his game and accepted coaching

I’d ignore the folks that sit on a high horse.

Eh?

As others have said, he went too early in completely writing off a promising young star, who subsequently proved to be a real prospect.

There's no high horse, moralising or grandstanding. The original post was just wrong.

I can be a jumped up twat at times, which is one of the reasons I pretty much gave up on the forum last season. This wasn't one of those occasions.

I agree that McAtee deserves boat loads of credit, for listening, changing his game and getting stuck back in. A lesser lad could have just melted and run back to City.

Equally, Hecky and his staff deserve credit too. They recognised it was their mistake to drop him in at Luton, so were much more careful early last autumn, bringing him on as a sub and gradually building up his role.

It's a really good example of how a loan can be made to work, to benefit all three parties.

A year since this thread after his performance against Luton. Noticed he spent a lot.of time with our players on the pitch after the game, and clapping our fans. Would love to have him back!
Yeah I noticed that, he couldn't wait to get on the pitch at full time and have a good old hug with our lads.

Just shows we should not jump on the youths backs to quickly when they are starting to get in the first team..
Hi Stegosaurus here,

Or, jumping on player's backs encourages them to play better. I remember when Ramsdale was shit, I insulted him every week. Then he became less shit and got signes by Arsenal. I take full credit for turning him into a decent goalie by pointing out flaws in his game and how he should improve.

My pants are down for McAtee, that was the point of the OP yes…?

Go on, I’ll go first. Citeh have had our pants down with his lad,

He’s not ready for the Championship. He’s too weak and wet behind the ears, with zero league experience behind him. He needs a league one or league two loan to get some experience.

The new Foden he ain’t. And if he was City wouldn’t be letting the lad leave, and certainly not to us.

Barring winning us a pen vs Sunderland and passing the ball to a teammate thereafter for the first time, he was similarly abject. Tonight he’s been way off it, could have been sent off for two bookings and couldn’t even take a corner.

Get Doyle on or even little Blaster. McAtee does not belong in midfield. He’miles off and goes to show the ignorance of armchair fans and YouTubers who are sucked in by a highlights reel.

Don’t believe in the hype, believe in the man.
Idiot

Cool story bro

You still chippy after this morning, Miss fucking Marple?

My opinion of McAtee might have been bollocks at the time but at least it was my OWN. Not second hand shite that you spout to gain superficial likes and favour on here, without having a scooby doo.

To be fair he was bad that night. Biy did he adapt and if continues to get better, should win us a few points this season. Hope it will be enough
