McAtee pants down

Honestly? I was thinking about that first yard or two that gets great players out of tight spots when I made the comment.

He's clearly sharpish over the full length of the pitch 😄
So you think he struggles to beat players when in tight spaces?

Great comment this and spot on...we still need Billys influence around the team but not starting....
He’s a living playing legend and has been a brilliant servant to SUFC and we should enjoy seeing him pull on the red and white and play. It’s a luxury we are affording him to get his 250th goal before hanging up his boots and joining the coaching staff.

i think theres more chance of us keeping doyle than macatee if we go up but pep may well allow both to stay on loan if it helps us take points off citys rivals obviously he wouldnt let them play for us against city

Love Billy to bits and not meaning to be controversial but take Billy out and put Doyle in and play a 3-4-3 with Ndiaye at centre forward and this team goes up another notch.
Not sure the benefit of moving a player who is in incredible form tbh. We need McB back, and/or another striker sorting in Jan.

McAtee having this great run has taken so much pressure off Ndiaye having to create and score every game (even though he still does 😂). Slots in perfectly now that he’s learning to do the ugly parts of the game and also with being left footed we keep the balance in the team. Great player.

Hecky and his staff deserve a lot of credit for how they've handled McAtee. They took some criticism for not playing him early in the season and then some for signing him in the first place after the Luton game. But whatever the coaching team have been working on with him behind the scenes has clearly paid off--Man City must be delighted. Hecky's record of developing young players is getting better and better: along with McAtee, MGW, Ndiaye, and RND have all come on in leaps and bounds under him.

In the Premier League only one loan from the same club allowed.

This is true, but can we extend the loans for 18 months starting from January to get around it? Or would they not both be allowed to be registered in the PL? Although they are both under 21 they don't need to be registered?

Agree. You have to credit hecky (and obviously the player too). He saw what was lacking in his game and they have clearly worked on it.

Looks to have a bit more physically on him now and it’s more willing to put a shift it. Talent will only get you so far, if he wants to thrive at the next level he needs to do the nasty parts as well. Think city will be pleased with how the loan is going as well as we are.

"- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.

The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
  • Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.

  • A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club."

Would they turn their nose up at 10m with some sort of buy back clause for Doyle?

Buy Doyle and loan Macatee ?

Agree, think the best Doyle can reach is average PL standard, so he's never going to break into the Man City squad.

Doubt McAtee will be good enough for City either but he has a chance
so would think Pep would refuse to sell and prefer to loan him to a PL club where he's going to see plenty of game time next season.

If we go up, would love it we were able to come to an arrangement with City to keep both McAtee & Doyle for another season as part of their development.

The City fans are saying the same thing

However as somebody has pointed out there is only one loan between Prem clubs allowed, so we'd have to buy one of them.

Doyle has been effective in more games for us because I think he is more developed physically, but City might see McAtee as more of their type of player, a substitute for when Foden isn't fit, with a view to being a challenge to him in a couple of years.

So if we went up, Doyle could be a decent buy, and maybe City would loan us McAtee to give him some Premier League experience

Go on, I’ll go first. Citeh have had our pants down with his lad,

He’s not ready for the Championship. He’s too weak and wet behind the ears, with zero league experience behind him. He needs a league one or league two loan to get some experience.

The new Foden he ain’t. And if he was City wouldn’t be letting the lad leave, and certainly not to us.

Barring winning us a pen vs Sunderland and passing the ball to a teammate thereafter for the first time, he was similarly abject. Tonight he’s been way off it, could have been sent off for two bookings and couldn’t even take a corner.

Get Doyle on or even little Blaster. McAtee does not belong in midfield. He’miles off and goes to show the ignorance of armchair fans and YouTubers who are sucked in by a highlights reel.

Don’t believe in the hype, believe in the man.
Maybe they didn't have our pants down!!

434% agreed. What an embarrassing post by me. I jumped the gun, I thought the lad was a bust and it did take him a while to settle.

But… McAtee has been pivotal to almost securing us promotion. He’s turned it on with end product, assists and vital goals when we’ve desperately needed it.

The lad is quality and has almost become as important as Ndiaye in the run-in.
