Someone tried to bring up this subject on Bladesmad the other week, and no surprise it was Len, and so I imeadiately dismissed it as a WUM thread.

I suggest people treat this thread as similar, in fact Mods, can it be locked before someone gets themselves in serious legal dificulties?

So you're not saying he is racist and it's me bringing the word up, so what are you trying to say?
Maybe it is coincidence (I certainly hope so seeing as my all time Blade hero is Brian Deane) but it does seem strange that at Burton, Derby and now here Nigel hasn't found a black player good enough to make his first choice eleven.

Harry's Game - if that is not you implying that Clough maybe has an 'agenda' that is based on race then I'm not sure what it is? Your claim is also total bollocks of course and not based on any semblance of fact.

To back up Sheffielders points, he also brought in Lee Grant at Derby and his successful Burton side (I watch them a few times a season) that reached the play offs and then were running away with the Conference title was built around their black top scorer Greg Pearson.

Clough signs players who he thinks have ability alligned with the right temprement, work ethic and team ethos. The colour of their skin has nothing to do with it.

Unfair on Matty, yes not the greatest player ever to pull on a red and white shirt but always gives his all, looks like he cares and one of the first to acknowledge the fans at the end of a game. I can understand your reasons for wanting Matt to move on at the end of the season but to use a comment like "glad to see the back of him", well the lad doesn't deserve that, leave those comments for the likes of King.
Glad to see the back of him for the simple reason he's not good enough for us if we want to push on. Not a personal dig at the bloke he his a decent person and a trier. Can't fault his attitude either but he's just not good enough.

Yuley, yeah I understand your reasons and agree with you about Matt, I know it wasn't a dig at him, just thought it was unfortunately worded.

Any thoughts on Terry Kennedy's performance yesterday? I think it is the right time to let Hill leave this summer. I hope we bring in a younger, quicker partner for Maguire and let Collins and Kennedy be backup.

I think we have to be brutal and let Collins go, hes losing pace every year goes by and might be a liability , might be wrong but would prefer a younger player, but he could stay as hes white ( now is that sarcasm or irony )

I like Matt Hill's attitude but we need to put sentimentality aside if we are to seriously challenge for automatic next season.....

I have heard that there are serious concerns at the club about the number of injuries that Kennedy has already picked up in a young carear and we may end up releasing him this summer, shame if ture as fully fit he is a real prospect.

I thought he was poor, although I desperately want him to do well. He missed a couple of tackles which left us exposed at the back and his passing was adrift several times. He did have a header hit the bar and he went on one Harry type run in the first half, did the difficult dribbling, then gave the ball away. he got a round of applause for that, so there's a fair bit of good will towards him amongst supporters.

He jumps well, but I'd really like to see a taller centre back. We're constantly accused of being a big team, but we really aren't, Maguire, Coady (who doesn't use his height) and the boy for Brazil are the only 6 footers we have.

The colour of Matt's skin is irrelevant when it comes to a new contract. If we want to improve then we need players better than him in the squad. That said, I like Hill, he gives his very best every time he plays and if he does leave I'm sure he'll have no problem finding a new club.

Brizzle City most likely I guess

according to the Cloughmeister hes identified all his targets, wether in or out of contract so some purchases are inevitable , but it also means departures are imminent

Looking at Clough's comments on new contracts it sems clear that Hill will be heading for the exit, actually I feel a bit sorry for him, when asked to play Centre Back I have never seen him let us down, ok I am not always that confident when he is playing at full back but we have had far worse players in that position in recent times.

That Marlon King, he was a real flag waver for civil rights wasn't he?

For this thought to even cross a poster's mind is worrying, but to air the opinion that Nigel Clough is in anyway racist is at best ridiculous, and at worst sick. It must run in the family genes if Harry's Game believes this to be true. Nigel's dad only seemed to select player's who were worthy of wearing the shirt, and those who happened to be black were excellent players in their prime, Viv Anderson and the superb Des Walker.

This thread is beyond ridiculous.

This thread is great. Whenever HG posts I have to come on just to see how he is going to put a negative spin on anything. Are you one of Millibands spin doctors?

Lets get David Weir back ,hopefully he will sign Marlon King and Lenny Henry ,instead of this clough guy chucking bananas on the pitch.
Grow up.

A few of the Derby fans thought Tyson was bombed out too soon whilst lesser liked players were given longer, and just pointing out that it is unusal in the current age the lack of Black players in the squad, I am not asking for quotas or anything but the last time I can remember us not having a black player in the squad was under Howard Kendall, if Hill goes that will be the situation again.
Kendall did sign Paul Parker for us on loan

I'm concerned about your avatar Harry. Maybe it is coincidence (I certainly hope so seeing as my all time hero is Gary Coleman) but it does seem strange that you haven't found a black player good enough to make your first choice avatar. ;)

What i don't get ,is why are any of us wanting players to stay as back up players or of the bench players when we clearly need to get out of this division next year.Wolves brentford and preston all have decent size squads most of which can do a good job ,now if we want to do the same as wolves and brentford we SIMPLY have to get rid of the shit end of.We have these players called youngsters at the club what can be back up if required,i would definately go for quality over quantity and i think thats what clough likes to do from what i gather
Wolves are a prime example ,they got rid of nearly all of their premier league players and championship ones too and went with powerful ,pacey, direct ,strong and very hungry youngish players mixed with the odd bit of experience, they also looked at who were the best players at their respective clubs in the division which they were going to be playing in,for example mcdonald of us and clarke of coventry
What im trying to say is get rid of the shit which we happen to keep every year in this league,we have obviously got shit because next season will be our fourth in this division, which for a club of our stature is not acceptable but we are where we are.
BOARD we have had our little adventure in this league now, wev'e visited all the grounds now get rid of the shit and get us where we belong(whether they be black or white players harrys game ffs)

Wonder how Nigel gets on with the Prince..?

I mean as Lord Kitchener used to sing:

"If You're Not White, You're Black"

Time to move on and progress and the same goes for Porter and eventually this will include Collins and Doyle. For too long United have been an easy retirement home for ailing and sometimes failing players. If we want to be up there challenging again we need players that have the hunger and desire to go there with us.

That - but Doyle and Collins also out now.
