Not looking great ? Who were you expecting us to realistically sign ?

At least the centre half and wide player Wilder mentioned?

And if DCL's going then at least a couple more.

If it helps I think Morgan will be signed, the lad from Wolves you predicted and at least 1 other. Pinchy has promised me that if DCL goes we are bringing in another striker today.

I have indeed. Intrigued that you think Morgan will be signed! Do you mean that?

I will say this slowly. We have already signed 10 players 10! You sound like petulant child and its very boring. Every thread I have read has you threatening to scweeem until you are sick...enough

The world is going mad. We need something to jappen before a few have a melt down
I've had mine sheff

Do you put quantity above than quality then?

Laughing at the criticism of Ricky. Wilder has been saying for weeks now this centre half is lined up, that wide player is lined up etc etc. However 5 hrs from deadline the only outfield player who has joined is Lavery despite the noise and we've cleared out Brayford, Woolford, Che, Wallace, Mcnulty et al

Who has he said was lined up? I think you may be mistaking him for the ITK Brigade. He has said from time to time that he was confident, indeed certain on one occasion, of bringing players in, but no-one specific. That may very well be unwise. In terms of identifying areas that need strengthening though, he's hardly said anything that even the most myopic of fans haven't noticed already.

As you rightly say, a few (possibly hectic) hours to go yet.

You think quantity will get us out of this six year hell? We can only put 11 on the pitch and they need to be quality.

And stop it with the childish gibes, try debating it like a grown up.
I am arguing against more more more but you and others keep demanding it. As for childish, weren't you the one who changed my post? The point is moaning about lack of ambition when we have signed 11 players is ridiculous. Whether you like the signings is another matter.. the board have backed wilder and some just can't accept it.

Think you misunderstand, I don't want more more more. I want quality and balance. I'd rather have 3/4 good signings not 10 average ones. No more square pegs in round holes.
TBH I don't recognise the team on the pitch, so many changes and I don't know who they are let alone if they are any good or if they can gel into a promotion team.
I'm hoping to God CW has got it right, I would love him to prove me wrong about the sorry state of the club and would welcome calls to bare my backside on the town hall steps if it meant promotion.

Only you can make that call mate - if you're so sure we're that bad, what have you got to lose?

Two points

You have been crying out for signings, now you are saying so many signings. Too many?

You don't know who the players are? Would you think that CW may have an inkling?

Reminds me of a post some time ago slagging the club/manger for signing players that the poster had never heard of. Should the club/manager ring the fans to ask if they have heard of the potential signing, or rely on the fact that they have had them watched half a dozen times.

Once upon a time we signed quality players with known pedigree who we instantly recognised on the pitch. Like many on here I can go back decades and recall almost full team sheets.
These days we sign journeymen, sell young tallent, and buy players most on here have never heard of or recognise. They might all be talented and blend to a winning team. But please if you know them so well please give me an assessment on each, whisper words of comfort that all will be well like in the old days.
And for the record I am not slagging anyone. Just saying in my opinion they are not the quality that I have come to expect for sufc over the yeaster years. Younger lads might accept what we are going through as the norm, I never will, I'll just keep saying it as I see it and it ain't good enough.

Signing 10 players on its own sounds really great...........but we have lost (since the squad published on the back of the Coventry programme 13th Dec 2015) 25 players in total..........and yes, the squad was way too big, but in the context of 25 out and 10 in???? doesn't sound quite so impressive, it certainly required doing and was hardly extravagant. since we've brought them in we've lost 5 of this seasons published squad ....so its -15 in player movement.

And how much has it cost us to move on 25 players (and a management team....)

We wanted and needed a clear out and rebuild and got it

Now that only works if the clear out and rebuild puts us in a stronger position. The evidence so far says we aren't.

Ain't disagreeing........but I don't think people saying we have signed 10 / 11 players is some sort of major achievement is so astounding, when we've lost 25 and needed to re-build the squad.

I would be interested to know the net position of us, given the 25 (plus Adkins etc) out and 11 in. I dread to think how much money as a club we have spunked up the wall since that Coventry program

There is a bit of an "anti-Coutts" thing about a lot of fans eh? Personally I think he's one of the most talented footballers at the club and I still think he's got an important role to play for us. I see Coutts as a creative midfield player. Someone who can do a similar role to Kevin McDonald when he was here. Picking the ball up off the defence, moving it up to the forwards and stringing play together.

Now, I also fully understand that Coutt's pace and tempo just haven't been there in a lot of games under the previous poor excuse of a manager. But how much of that is down to Coutts and how much of it is down to the clown who managed him? He's still a very young fit bloke and if anyone can get him upping his game a bit then I'm sure Wilder can. And if he does then we'll have one hell of a good player on our hands. Better than anything at League 1 level imo.

I'm hoping he gets a chance to show what he can do under Wilder - I think it could be good for him and us.

Good post this! I like it! Posted originally on 11th July 2016 - before the season started.
