I think what people are saying is there is a balance to be drawn. Longer efforts now and again rather than always trying to score close in keeps opponents off balance. Even the best passing sides mix it up, see Aguero’s first goal v Huddersfield. I like good passing football but I think it was Bob Paisley who said there’s no such thing as a long pass or a short pass just a good one or a bad one (or something to that effect). We should be unpredictable not wedded to one way or the other and that goes for both passing and shots at goal.

Whether it was Bob or not, it’s absolutely right. There is also a world of difference between a long pass to the feet or into the stride of the recipient and an aimless punt of the same distance.

Similarly, the Shooooot Brigade give no thought whatsoever to whether a shot is really on. In truth, they have little capacity for thought of any kind. I’ve seen and heard them.

You've got to say she's a looker to be fair!

A Barnsley lass !! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

A familiar plaintive cry from a Sheffield United begging for less passing of the ball.

We ❤️ Shots. Off balance, without momentum, no room, no angle. Blaze it over the bar. Surrender possession for no gain whatsoever.

Who cares? Just shoooooooooot...
I can claim this to be true - you do get those at the Lane who cry the words "shooooooooot" even if it's Basham (who barely scores if he's 5 yards out nevermind 25) with defenders barring the way, and colleagues in better positions. Madness.

Thankfully Bash knows his limits and does indeed pick out the better options....sometimes :)

I can’t help but ❤️ Bash, for all his limitations.

Would imagine so. Hopefully it’s with a view to a permanent or at least an option of a permanent.

I just want slow process. If he does well we get to sign him and let lafferty go in Jan/ Summer.

Which is why I would rather us buy a Gregory rather than loan a Hogan as the squad be improving in the long term with investment in signings not loans.

Then in the summer we would only really be looking to bring in a goalkeeper on a full time basis and I already know a good keeper!!

Look, I was as big a Bullock fan as anyone until her latest work. She looks terrible now, although Cate Blanchett looks marginally worse in Oceans 8.

:). In her defence, anyone would look shit in Ocean’s 8. And, when he finds out, it ain’t gonna stop Crouchy beatin’ on yo ass, innit.

Boro close to signing George Saville from Millwall, who can play Left Midfield - could that be the move that frees up Johnson?

Possible, as he along with Besic will take a place in the squad every time. But they're also known to be trying to sign a winger so it could still depend on that.

Haha, he can play in multiple positions but apart from a few decent games in the Carabao Cup last season he's done nothing to warrant a run in the team.

Mind you he was playing LW for those games, if you play him elsewhere you may see the best of him. Either way we're not that bothered if he stays or goes :)
