MANAGER SACKED

I haven't read all 17 pages, but has anyone punted the idea that the players hated Slav, Slav hated the players, and that this was a big part of it?

This is purely thoughts of a stoner. I am completely NOT ITK.
I think he handled the fleck incident poorly, he showed a lack of compassion and empathy at the time and after. This would have had nothing to do with his departure but there was clearly a gulf between him and the players. He’s probably never been in such a culturally insular dressing.

If you think that having to call out your beloved club's obvious incompetence can possibly be called "fun" , you have no idea of the utter misery & embarrasment currently felt by devoted Blades.
Sarcasm, dear boy, sarcasm.

And whilst I am on.
1. Long devoted blades have been through much worse than this.
2. Misery? I know we aren’t supposed to tell people this these days but do get a grip, for your own sake.
3. Embarassment? This is not something to be embarrassed about. Look across the city or to Derby for where there should be embarrassment. The management change only just made the bottom of the BBC Sport app. Nobody else but us (and pigs fans, why worry about them) cares.

I repeat, get a grip.

It was the right choice to wave him off
Results based decision
And in 20 games he's utilised 10 different formations. The players heads must be spinning with the lack of clarity.

Perhaps Higginbottom is the best solution just now. Cheap option ? Well his 4 year contract is probably less than a year of Slavs. But the players will at least understand their roles and he and mccall will wheeler deal in January and get in fresh faces after off loading a few.

That's what Jokanovic didn't do. There were out of contract and freebies in abundance and he failed to bag any.
Any shortage in numbers was his fault

Any idea what’s actually happened before deciding who’s to blame?
Yep. We appointed Slav on a three year contract then we sacked him after he only got 23 points from his first 19 games. The statement issued by the club didn't thank him for his efforts, as is customary. It did calll the performances under Slav 'lacklustre'

Yes the start to the season is not what we wanted but the baggage and hangover from last season is still there. Yes, I haven't been overly impressed with some of his decision making but I would still have given him the season. Shocking stuff and to me smacks of Slav saying I need money in January and the two bob Prince saying, you have to sell to loan players in. Imagine the position we will be in next year when Olsen, Davies, Hourihane and Gibbs-White have gone back to parent clubs.
Oh and i forgot to mention - Sharp, McGoldrick, Osborn, Mousset, Freeman, Robinson, Basham, Guerdiora are all out of contract and I honestly do not see any of them getting new deals (I hope Basham does)

So that leaves us with Foderingham, Verrips, Egan, O'Connell, Kopata, Norrington-Davies, Baldock, Bogle, Lowe*, Stevens, Fleck, Norwood, Berge, Brewster, McBurnie, Burke, Slater, Brunt, Ndiaye, Jebbison.

I can see Berge & Egan probably being cashed in on.

Doesnt fill me with much confidence this.

What is happening today is not something exclusive to our beloved football club. Its happening all the time in football and has done for years. We fans, some of us going back to the 1950s, are left wondering without any information or explanations. That cannot, or shouldn't, be right or the norm.
Coincidentally, this morning's press announced plans for an independent football regulator across all the leagues which, amongst other things, would give fans additional rights to be informed and more involved in decision making within clubs.
For the time being, personally, I will avoid judgement or rash comments about what is happening at our club in the slight hope that within a very short time more positive announcements might come from the owner and board about new investment and a replacement manager which will allow reinforcements to our playing staff and more promising plans for club structure and the future. I hope these are all ready to be announced but Im not holding my breath. If there are no plans already then it doesn't bode well for the future but, as I said, that seems to be the status quo.

On Slav's departure my opinion is that he left because of lack of funds. My perception is that he has not worked miracles or appeared a particularly good motivator of the players we were left with.
So a hectic and confusing 24 hours after my post above I am trying to make a calm and rational assessment without the intrusion of bias or angered polemic thinking. We are all of us naturally worried about what the future holds for our club and probably agree structure, management and culture have been lacking for some time and need to change to a better long term strategy.
I feel there are many complications and we should attempt to simplify. In other words sort the wheat from the chaff of what we have seen and heard and possibly said.
I don't think our club is unique in the course of events and football generally needs to take a look at itself especially how its is regulated and the part we fans are allowed to play apart from the lip service often given to us. If there is to be an independent regulator they must be given wide powers to address all issues but perhaps the powerful factions and money will win that one. I hope not.
Following my post the announcements about the manager, club strategy, direction, finance and investment did come swiftly. That was encouraging but we will have to wait to see whether they meet our individual conceptions of what is positive enough or not. At least we have something to work with.
My overall feeling is that our new manager should be given the support we Blades traditionally have offered when our backs are against the wall. Similarly, our club has a proud tradition of bringing through good youthful players and long may that continue as long as we can retain some to help the club prosper and entertain. I much prefer our kind of club to those who only spend big yet come to regret it and have nothing to show.
I want Sheffield United to continue to build on its proud history even if that means compromising on the limits of our ambitions so lets turn up on Sunday, get back to the football and express ourselves from the stands and on the field of play. It's not necessarily doom and gloom if we and the club set our minds to it and that, in fact, is how its always been.

a low ebb is Don Givens missing a last minute penalty and finding yourself in division four
not sacking a manager who has failed to ignite the fire under our squad
After a short sojourn in the prem expectation has exceeded our capabilities
We never have had an orchard full of money trees in the hotel car park
4m quid was our record buy up to 2018 but now some saying we need 40 or 50m to become half decent
that has never been the case

I heard that at Coventry game
Id not heard that but have heard, "it's not a happy place", from an ex employee who still talks to loads of ex colleagues. Its not wilder or knill😁
