Why didnt we bring Mcburnie back?

You forgetting he scored 15 goals the season we went up with hecky and linked up well with ndiaye.

Or that he got 6 in 21 apps the following relegation season. He showed he was a good player before he left.

He very nearly signed a new contract but went for an experience in LaLiga with LasPalmas. Left field option was offered to him.
Ordinary is the word I'd choose to describe him. Ordinary in his time with us, ordinary performance yesterday. Can't run, injury prone and a red card always around the corner. Nothing against him as a bloke, seems genuine enough but even an out of form Bamford is an upgrade. Still, cult hero or something .

He was offered a reduced salary contract that’s why
Yep, to be fair that was the reason. Easy to see why he said no thanks.

Similar to Moore for me in that they both play well in certain systems. The Hull version of McBurnie is closer to the version of the one we thought we were buying.

I also think Moore would have been more productive under someone like Warnock

One of the top scorers in the league. Ordinary? He's a top championship forward

Because 26 goals in 5 years is a poor return for a lead striker
Too many injuries
Either he wasn't good enough or we just were unable to play to his strengths, both preclude a deal

Sadly, being one of the lads and a kop favourite doesn't really cut it when we're spending stupid money

Given all that, we'll probably sign him again because we do like to live in the past.
Overall his was poor for us for what he cost.
Not enough goals, too many injuries, suspensions and incidents away from the club. I was glad to see the back of him.
However the year in Spain seems to have done him good (interesting that he left after 1 year of a 3 year contract though?)
Hull seen to have got the best ever version of him.

Best CF in the league this season.
How many of his appearances have you actually watched this season to make that judgement? It's some statement that considering Vipotnik and Wright are ahead of him in the scoring stakes.

Enough to gauge his level, and his goals to games ratio is very good. Some of Vipotnik's have been penalties. Wright is in a free scoring team. Whereas McBurnie has carried Hull

He's 10th in the goals per minutes played. He's behind Bamford on that stat alone.

Yep ordinary. He's a plodder that can clear corners from his own box. Do you think he's a better forward than Bamford?
Bamford might be better but you do know we can have both right? Personally I think Bamfords lack of legs recently is telling

One of the top scoring plodders 🤣🤦‍♂️ The facts make your opinion look silly

I actually think Bamford and McBurnie would work well together as a pair up top and be a real handful. Wouldnt be surprised if CW tried to get McB again in the future. Still feels like umfinished business with him and United.

As for why we didnt sign him, it probably just comes down to the fact that Ruben was an absolute clown and didnt want the gift that Bettis and McBurnie himself were trying to set up for him. Where is Ruben the clown these days? Which club is enjoying his latest managerial expertise these days?

He wouldn't have been as successful here for the same reason Moore looks better at Wrexham. We're not a team set up for target men. We bring the ball narrow, Hull take it down the wings.

The takeover situation meant there was no contract until the Spanish club came in. He hung about thinking it might be resolved in time to sign for the Blades.

His goal yesterday could have absolutely been produced out of our system and he took it like a champ

i was saying yesterday McBurnie scoring felt inevitable. but I’m not sure what’s changed with him, or if Hull’s style just suits him more, because we cant go back with Rose tinted glasses aside from a 3 month spell under Hecky, he was very disappointing for us in those 3 years. was mainly brought on late to stop goals than score them

7 assists as well though. I don't think any other CF has been a better overall performer. Although Vipotnik's tally in that team is very impressive so I could understand him being considered the best this season

This is the problem, as it seems CW prefers 1 up top, so its probably one or the other.

I remember those heady times before Christmas, when we were playing 2 up top (when Gus wasnt available) and we were scoring 3 a game weekly.

He was poor for a period but he scored 15 goals in the Hecky promotion season. A 15 goal a season striker is very valuable.

His lack of fitness at The Blades was a massive issue, the fact that Hull have managed to keep him fit perhaps says more about how rubbish our conditioning is as a club. Egan also staying fit this season.

Apparently, according the wise sages on here, we didn't give Ruben the clown long enough to turn things around. Probably the same know-it-all sages that wouldn't have had McB back under any circumstances. They walk amongst us.

Quite rightly so. His availability was absolutely shocking that season.

If my day job was on a fixed term contract and I was offered an extension on less money because I had been on sick leave for some of the contract, then not only am I not sure whether that is actually legal, but they would rightly be told to fuck off
