Wilder wouldn't get a bellend though, and if he hated United, multiple sources have backed up that he wanted to come here so that can't be the case and the shifts he's putting in are showing how much he wants it.

Don't give a donkey's polyp that he used to play for Wednesday either, we've saved plenty of great players from the rustbucket over the years.

As long as he keeps out of trouble I'll back him. That's not to excuse his past actions, or to say I want us to sign players with convictions for violence again in the future, but he's here now and he's trying to do a job for us.

And there's the rub Swiss, thanks to his fuckwittery we were denied his presence, which as you say was really missed. Also, Goldie, you are one of my favourite players but for Gods sake make some kind of effort to jump when a high ball comes towards you.

Yeah, agreed. I could be wrong, but i don't also believe that his onfield disciplinary record is particularly bad. He got a red and players do get red cards, but the timing couldn't really have been worse. You could also say the same for the international break.

It is what it is, we did miss Madine and i think its a warning to the rest of the players to keep the discipline for the next 7 games as it has served us so well over recent years.

It may well of helped us out having the direct option, given we couldn’t keep hold of the ball. Duffy was the bigger miss though in my opinion.

Yes, in my opinion, Coutts, Washington and Johnson are all a waste of a substitution. Coutts, because he's a good player, but can't run. And Washington and Johnson, because they are not good players, but can run.

The JOC injury was very unfortunate and so was the Duffy one. He was very good vs Bristol City when they robbed us last time at home.

The big thing yesterday is that we played our away style post January - without Madine. Whether this was by design or due to Bristol pushing us back with superior ball retention is a moot point. It happened. We started Dowell who hasn't had a good game as an attacking midfielder when he hasn't played off Madine. Most attempts to break quickly broke down with Sharp and Mcgoldrick, rendering Dowell a none factor in the game. He's a ball carrier, not a David Silva type like Duffy or Mcgoldrick. He needs the ball to be held up and layed off with grass to run into. He rarely picks up the ball facing his own goal like the latter two: he wants it facing the opposition goal. When Sharp and Madine play together, they both get the ball facing our goal,lay it off and then go from there. We could go in to how the line up yesterday didn't suit our pressing patterns, but I'll leave it there. A very astute post from thee.

Spot on there Swiss. We bought Madine in order to have another option (or plan B) other than our marauding wing backs and centre backs.

Bristol City set up yesterday to nullify our usual style. We need to be prepared the next 7 games will throw up similar challenges. We started going long. Billy tried his best to hold the ball up but we were crying out for a big presence to put real pressure on their centre backs.

Historically, James Beattie's red card at Exeter (2012) came too late in the season for us to put things right. This season Madine has the opportunity to put things right after Brentford. He should be available for Birmingham.

He needs to prepare for the most important 6 games of his career and give us that other option.
