Absolutely. Not a massive stretch to align our fall from grace with his and draw sad parallels!! If he stays fit and motivated, that second PL season doesn't happen...

Albeit a (very) small sample size, but without doubt one of the best players we've ever had. That performance against Man Utd was right up there.

Sadly all the self-discipline of a toddler...

Huge pressure, young guy, possibly some MH issues and other baggage he was carrying. Wasn’t the first and won’t be the last sadly.

Just couldn’t put it together unfortunately but gave us some good memories.

Won't be a popular opinion here but I think he's seriously over-rated by some on here.
He had a great spell for about 3 weeks. That was it. So what? Fukin Lundstram had a great spell as well.
In his 3 years with us he managed around about 2000 minutes on the pitch which equates to around about 7 and a half matches per year!
An embarrassment.
Football is a game of 90 minutes duration and the bare minimum we should demand is that an athlete can prepare themselves properly to complete that 90 minutes when asked to do so. Like a few of our present players he's not willing or able to do that.

I remember in that second season someone went back through all his career appearances on Soccerbase or similar and discovered he had literally never managed a full 90-minutes in first-team football. Willing to bet he still hasn't.

But he's always going to be a player I have a massive soft spot for. Just a big lovable ne'er-do-well who was capable of the occasional flash of magic. Our pound-shop Balotelli.

If I remember, he managed 1 90 minutes appearance after signing for Bournemouth 10 years ago.

Found it, a real 'were you there when....' moment :D

He obviously tried it once, and thought fuck this if I can get paid the same just for sub appearances :D

I was randomly thinking of his post premier league highlight for us when he scored against Barnsley just the other day. Imagine that month of premier league mousset in the championship. Unplayable.

One of the biggest what if careers I can think of.
One of the funnier delusions of the Jokanovic era was that Mousset could be first choice striker. An odd few weeks and months.

He showed plenty of ability and could have gone on to be very good and have a very successful career if he could stay on the straight and narrow. As others have mentioned, he needed guidance outside of the footballing bubble that Wilder, Jokanovic and Heckingbottom couldn't provide to him 24/7. It was easier to bomb him out than give him any special treatment or for anything he did to become detrimental to the rest of the group which is understandable.

Had he stayed with us in the Championship under Hecky and continued the form he started that season with, we'd have coasted the league that season and things could have been very different for us as a club. N'Diaye, a fit Mousset, a permanent MGW upon promotion, Berge, a fit McBurnie and a few astute additions (not our forte) would have formed the basis of a potentially competitive side in the Premier League.

He's only still playing to some degree because, without being too disparaging, I'm not sure the lad has a lot else in his locker other than kicking a ball.

It is frustrating though, because down at Championship level, he should have run amok.
I remember watching us lose at home to Blackpool under Slav and one of the few positives I took from the experience was Mousset looking a real handful. I was convinced he was going to be the main man that season 🤣

Tom Davies will need to stick around for 50yrs to get that much time on pitch

I still like to remember Mousset fondly.
He was probably the best player, in the best period for the best Sheff Utd team I've ever seen...

I thought we were looking at a £50m+ sale.

I don't think he's well advised or surrounded by good people. I really feel for him with the way things have gone.

Really sad to see his name pop up, as he is just now coasting through football. Talented player and it really annoys me that he has zero self discipline and has allowed his career to end up like this.

His talent will still mean the odd random club will take a minor gamble on him but he could have been so much more.

He was given special treatment to the extent of someone being engaged to live with him 24/7 during part of his time with us to attempt to keep him on the straight and narrow. He had his demons and it certainly wasn’t all to do with laziness and diet.

Compare to the career of Leon Clarke.

Period's of brilliance followed by - very little.

We gave him a new contract, he went out and bought a Bentley never scored for us again.

Consistency in football is always expected but produced in the minority.

😯 Hadn't heard this! I always felt like the lad had additional struggles to contend with and needed others in his corner.

“Vancouver are” - boils my piss when they say “is”.
Standard in American English, and correct in British English too according to the British Council.

If we didn't take on reclamation projects like Mousset, we'd be left gambling on potential players like Bennie Traore or Championship hopefuls like Mcburnie.

Much like Brewster and Burke, Moussett was every reason why never to give Wilder a cheque book.

You could almost hear Nice Guy Eddie Howe laughing and booking a taxi from the Vitality when we closed the deal. IIRC he had 53 non-90 minute outings for Bournemouth and three (count 'em) goals. Hardly break-the-bank material.

Mate of mine had a cousin who worked at the Copthorne as a general dogsbody where Moussett was billeted and he couldn't believe the amount of junk food the kid shovelled down his trap and alluded to other path-straying ventures that fully committed, health and welfare conscious sportsmen tend to avoid too.

Complete waste of cash.

On Brewster...

He has 7 goals and 2 assists this season. A goal involvement every 163 minutes for them.

He best return for United was last season - 4 goals and 3 assists

I know. It’s still wrong though.

In how many minutes?

Either way, he was a poor signing and not worth the £20m+ we spaffed needlessly on him.

Klopp, like Howe, must have laughed himself pissless when Wilder agreed terms and he left.

See also West Brom when they got shut of Burke.

Manager: "We have a talentless, underperforming problem player we need to move on and sell for silly money ..."

Assistant Manager: "Have you tried Chris Wilder at Sheff United?"
