He wasn’t as bad as some would have you believe but it was the right time to move on last summer. I would be utterly staggered if we went after fetching him back.

I know you’re often on the pulse Carlts, so, you’re confident on that because?
When high figures were brought up on the Luton pair earlier in the season, I did hear a much lower figure that that for both combined but I don't know for sure, nobody does really.

My confidence is much mord that it wasn't United's fault Luton hilariously overpaid for MM and they were truly desperate to get him off the wage bill. £5m would make him one of the top 5 most expensive L1 signings ever I believe.

you know the longer this Harry Souttar stuff drags on, this might become a real possibility.............

Wilder did like him and he unlike Souttar will be cheap.. I hope not but could be the well we return to!

If this does happen then I'm totally convinced Wilder is taking us back to where it all began.

Why did you have to say this?

Wilder has said that he already knows what he wants, which gave me some hope for next season but… if Jack Robinson features in any of that, then I think it’s time for a change of manager.

Gerrim signed!

I completely agree. Anyone who thinks this season will be an improvement on last is living in cloud-cuckoo land. OK, we might not lose the first 6 games but we will 100% be looking down rather than up....

You have no idea who will leave and who will sign. There are another 25 days left of the window. Cloud cuckoo land is making statements as fact, when in reality they are generated by your panic and negativity.

Not panicking at all, negative maybe but we have watched utter dross for the last 2 seasons, (save a handful of half decent performances) and since then have not cleared out the dross or improved the squad at all.

Granted 25 days left in the window but whilst I may be negative, are you feeling positive?

I think extended play offs mean we will have a season to speak of for much longer. Last summer I was far more negative with the sacking of a manager who got us 90 points and then the reality of the sellas era after a positive pre season showed what a huge error it was. We had a good spell once Wilder made a few changes to the side but the damage was already done. This year is our first non parachute payment year so essentially I go into it with the same hopes I did in our first season under Wilder in the championship. We managed to get to top but lose Coutts on the same night. I wouldn't say we are a million miles worse than that side 🤷‍♂️

Its not as good as we want but its been far from utter dross. At times we have played good football. Not enough I grant you. I believe we'll sign some good players and the team will improve yes.

And to say we've watched dross the last two seasons, which includes one that got us 90 points and a 3rd place finish, is exaggerating.

Did Wilder really like him that much?
Signed Jan 2020 as back-up CB/LB - even with O'Connell's injury only played in 6 games and then 8 the following season.

Hecky then used him a lot (and made him captain if I remember rightly)

23/24 he was already established as centre half and captain when Wilder came back - played 20 games - with big injuries to Egan & Bash the other options alongside Anel were Trusty & Holgate

24/25: Wilder attempted to (successfully) replace him with Harry Souttar. He was only ever used as a replacement for either of these when Anel/Souttar were injured. Even bloody Trusty started some games ahead of him before he left. He eventually got back in the side and played a further 34 games once poor Harry was finished for the season on Boxing Day.

He was then allowed to leave at the end of 24/25.

I've no doubt Wilder saw him as a useful option but it doesn't scream holding him in the same regard as an Egan. I think people forget it was Hecky who loved him - wouldn't surprise me at all if he ended up at Preston.

fair play and good memory!

You’re right, but the season starts on Sunday.

All this talk of needing a preseason for Wilder has now come and gone, and we’ve more chance of being weaker AFTER the league starts as opposed to stronger.

It’s not bedwetting, but simply a lethargic approach to the new season. We’re more likely to lose players than gain, and we’re supposed to be excited about it.

We get to watch another season of Wilder shrugging his shoulders when asked about plans and tactics, safe in the knowledge that he can apportion blame elsewhere, and a set of owners seemingly having a wonderful balance of shallow pockets and terror at making the wrong decision.

I’ll always support the team, but this current crop make it hard work.

FFS, If we resign him wilder should be sacked on the spot, rather see Baptiste or Mcguinness as back up, talk about going backwards
