Throwing objects

I suspect that a large number of regular away goers know who is pictured, as would the football club, I’m not posting his name, as due process should be followed given it’s a social media post/reaction.

If there’s been any wrongdoing, he deserves a proportionate action.

My derby day was one of the most sedate I’ve experienced, but then, me and my companion for the day deliberately structured our actions so as to try to avoid idiots.

I don’t know if it’s just an age thing, but there does seem to be a higher proportion of folk about who don’t realise how embarrassing they look and sound.

Spot on, been going to football since the dark days of hooliganism in the 80s and my uncle and his mates who took me always took the same actions as you, avoid the "idiot" contingent, I took that into adulthood.

I've seen several pictures of the so called fan on our away end but no pictures of him actually throwing anything, if he did, like the others they deserve punishment.

I recognise his face. Seen him at loads of away games over the years and never seemed like the sort to cause any trouble. But you never know in these situations!
I’m always wary of some of the trial by social media posts .. it’s dead easy for someone to let’s say embellish on incidents because they are pissed off / or they have not disclosed their part in provoking an incident which is never shown & ppl act as judge , jury & executioner from a very one sided perspective .
If this lad has thrown a bottle then I’d imagine they’ll have him clear as day on CCTV with him being stood at the front & if so he deserves the consequences that will undoubtedly follow .
I was on a holiday forum today & someone in the group was accusing & pictured a couple saying watch out they were thieves & scammers .
As the post panned out it would appear the accusations were completely false & the story was a vendetta around the break up of the posters daughter & the accused’s sons marriage & they were just trying a character assassination via social media !

The other difference can be seen by the posts in this thread compared to the posts on their comparable thread. You've got some sensible ones calling it out, but just as many defending it. I don't think I've seen a single post defending the stuff thats been reported about our fans chucking stuff and the guy who had his photo shared. For them, they have a significant number of fans who think it's fine.

From that thread, are you a sleeper cell Moan? Nope-I saw Longhorn

I think I recognise him from when I used to go away regularly in the Warnock days. He kinda latched onto our little group and was always a bit of a loose cannon...could be relied upon to say the most inappropriate things at the worst possible times.

If it's not the guy I'm thinking of, then he has a doppelganger.

It's him!

I know of him. I had a bit of a run in with him once away from football but without giving too much away he probably has some mitigation.

If it's him (have to be careful here) then he was always a bit..how can I say it..special? First initial T? He was always a loose cannon as I've said before. If it's the guy I'm thinking of he once almost got a little group of us in trouble at west ham.

It's the human condition mate, hate, destroy, hate more, destroy more, it's what we are all about, we can't live without it, we love it.......obviously

Yep

Don't really know the answer but is getting the tram for United fans safe/ideal anymore?

I've seen photos of pig chavs on the roads blocking any tram route which is new to me.

A walking escort from town too far I imagine?

Did anyone who went have any trouble going and leaving the shithole?

Absolutely not if the Police are going to do absolutely nothing to prevent the pigs being on the road. When we played them in 2019 it was fine, the bouncing day game the same as Sunday. We had to detour round onto Penistone Road and then through the park, last week (avoiding being in the United escort that looked to be getting pelted with missiles). Ended up just getting a taxi back to town, after a long wait.

It was never like that years ago, so I’m not sure why the police seem to be letting it happen now. If we were all stood on the tracks at the University/Glossop Road junction when we play them at home, you can guarantee the robocops would be out clearing everyone away.

Before the 4-2 win we were kept near the Barracks as it "wasn't safe" to move us towards the ground. We missed the first two goals and the Police couldn't really care less. I wouldn't bother with the tram, it attracts all sorts of pond life and effectively makes you an easy target for any aerial objects.

When they ticket costs £45 and you miss a third of the match it becomes more than a simple annoyance too. Add in being pelted with pint pots too.

Right got you, fuck him them, could have done serious damage to the kid.
Could have not happened like you said, all conjecture isn't it? Hopefully Police look into it and theres no question to answer for the lad, but if he has done it then my word what a silly thing to do.

i think were getting very close to syp deciding that theres no away fans for sheffield derbies at both grounds now theres only just over 2k allowed anyway those wednesday fans wouldnt be parked up on hillsborough corner if united had 9/10k fans we used to have heading for the sty

If we’re both in the championship next season and away fans are allowed it will be carnage especially at the Lane what happened to the robocops that used to police high risk matches

But I sit near people on the Kop, some with their little kids in tow, who are so incensed by the most innocuous events on the pitch, who keep up a tirade of non-stop foul-mouthed abuse at the ref and both sets of players and managers. Too high up to be heard, and thankfully, too high up to throw anything.
Just have a bit of perspective!
I sit near to people like this on the Family stand.😱😱

Going to watch your team should be a pleasure. And of course nobody likes it when we're getting beat, but FFS these people should be sent to Kyiev or Gaza to experience how sh*t things really can get. As Paddy Mcaloon nearly said: "some things hurt much more than bad refs and flukey goals".

Usually our football allegiances are passed down to us from older relatives, parents, uncles etc so we are influenced by their behaviour and also by dna that is passed on.
A bit like a border collie which may never have seen a sheep, it will still try and round people up and nip their heels.
It should therefore be no surprise that Wednesday fans throw stuff whenever things don't go their way.
On my first visit to Hillsborough I realised that this was a classy club as they offered cushions for hire for their better class supporters who had seats. However in one match after Bronco Layne was sent off for violent conduct, these classy supporters threw the cushions at the referee. This was pre 1964 as Layne was in the nick by then for match fixing so football hooligans were only just starting to emerge and these cushion throwers weren't teenagers on their kop but the adults in the seats.
The incident was not isolated despite a censure from the FA. Lightweight cushions for player safety were introduced at some point but more incidents occurred leading eventually to a cushion ban, I think after de Canio pushed the ref over.
So don't be surprised when Wednesday fans throw things, it's in their breeding.
