I watched your game against Luton. I didnt think either team played very well but you found a way to win.

Sunderland lose on Monday and top 4 becomes a top 3 and our task is them to accumulate what we need to confirm our play off place and get ready for them - 13 games out. We have a 15 point gap between us and 7th so the play offs look good for us, but we need some extra points.

I'm no longer thinking of top 2 in reality - I think its gone as I dont think there is a cat in hells chance of SU or Leeds throwing away 7 to 10 points - unless one of you spectacularly blows it.

I think we have done well to stay in the top 4 so I cant be too harsh on our team but we really have chucked some points away against utter crap like Plymouth and ultimately conceding rubbish goals again these teams has done for us - top 2 wise.

Every week we have the same people slagging Wilder and the Blades. 22 wins from 33 games, with a huge rebuild and the backdrop of last season. I'm all in, being bored to death with winning......... Last time I looked footy was a results based business

I said on another thread that this would be an ugly game and so it proved Luton very physical and hoofing the ball forward as quickly as possible, they also play for set pieces too with the big feckers they have up front. Luton were always going to try and turn this game into a battle but we matched them and steadily got better as the game went on. No complaints on the performance from me today against certain teams you just have o grind them down.

If Wilder shits himself again against Leeds, like he did in the first game, were in trouble.

He's definitely changed. In 2019 we were front foot all day long. Remember the Brentford home game anyone?

Post flounce he's set up to sneak a win then defend like buggery. Effective but boring.
Like we did against Sunderland just last week, you mean?

Did anyone else walk away from today thinking "well that's where the xxx is a shithole, I want to go home chant originated"

Look at what is happening to the team we played today this season. I will take this all day compared to that.
Not the point I was making but Hey ho
And Luton were still better than us today even though they've struggled.

I know it is considered a crime on this message board to expect a bit of entertainment in our performances so I will stop fuelling it. There are other message boards where people are a bit more intelligent and don't see criticism of our performances as criticism of the club and immediately start jumping on the offensive every time somebody says something about their preshy weshy Yooonited that they don't agree with.

100 years of practically nothing good happening, for a major city club with good support, in the founding city of modern football is pathetic and it's all been allowed to happen because of a gradually reducing year on year clapping, non demanding, compliant fanbase. The future is not looking good for this dinosaur approach, as the modern game will move on without us

i know luton are bottom of league. but they shouldnt be underestimated. that is a huge win. we know what that majority of that squad is capable of. considering 12mths ago they nearly stayed up.

also you cant have middlesboro every week. but after last year disaster how can anyone be upset. we are 5pts clear of burnley. on for a projected 98pts & in modern era. statistically the most successful championship team we've ever seen

Dinosaurs - christ.

I know the point you are making is you think we should front foot and entertain. Good for you, I'm happy winning and will take the bird in the hand, rather than looking at Leeds and thinking that could be us. The point I was making is that we could go out to be entertaining and it could turn to shit like it has for Luton. My opinion is just as valid as yours and likely just as wrong.
Where we differ is perspective, I'm generally happy with my lot when things are going OK. You don't seem to be, maybe you will find more like minded souls on the "intelligent " sites.

UTBs, keep boring me to death by winning!! Thick as pig shit me

A season in the Championship for a club relegated from the Premier League should at least see ENTERTAINING PLAY regardless of anything else, there should be players who are a cut above the Championship and show it on a number of occasions instead of having to scrap and brawl our way to boring results week after week.
Yeah, like Luton? Or like Burnley with their 37 goals?

What you on about?
We made 5 changes…..resting all our better players.
Big risk from Wilder but it worked….so you can only clap your hands and say well done.

Even with a weak side out we were still be better side having more of the better chances.

1st half they had a XG of 1.19 compared to our XG of 0.19. Luton by far the better side based on chances.
They had loads more shots than us but the big chances was 1-1.

2nd half stats when we brought on a few better players show we were the dominant side, we were by far the better side based on chances.
Luton XG was 0.44 and our XG was 1.77….they had 0 big chances compared to our 4 big chances.

Overall our XG was 1.96 compared to the Luton XG of 1.63.
Were deserved to win but people are rightly complaining about it being a close contest.

That's the fairest post I've seen tonight
We were poor first half but we stayed in the game and took control second half

I wish wilder would stop messing with the side so much but it worked today not sure where it leaves us for next game

As has been suggested before - if you're so annoyed about EVERYTHING, including your fellow fans, why on earth do you even bother?
There must be something somewhere that will provide you with the entertainment (or success?) that you crave.- try and find it, for your own sake

You have a very young team and they are a work in progress. This season is probably a season too early, but your team is enjoyable to watch and I expect them to be stepping up a level next season if you can keep the core together.

not being patronising but i think sunderland may well suprise leeds on monday their fans are getting way too cocky for a start plus sunderland got nothing to lose by just going for it already gauranteed a play off spot

And I understand everything that you and some of the others are saying as well

Would I rather the team play crap and win or play well and lose.......of course I would, winning is everything.
Every team that wins a lot of games has to win a few in a scrappy, hard working manner.

But we win 90% of our games this way, and that is the thing that is wrong

Me asking for skill, entertainment and making "SOME OF OUR GAMES" fun is not slagging the team off, and it is not asking for too much either

Got a suggestion for JJBlade Danetheblade & jono_t2000. Why don't you all go for a beer together whenever the blades are playing, you can moan at each other to your hearts content. Maybe even get a ticket in the away end, or go to a Wendy pub.
My attempted message got blocked. So I’ll settle for what a silly silly boy you are.

A tougher game than I expected but a job done professionally and a great day out on the road!

In a way the win against Middlesbrough hindered our perception of other performances. In that game we had a glimpse of how we can play fast, attractive attacking football that entertains the fans. Then 90% of the rest of the games are balanced on a knife edge with us hanging on then with one or two bits of individual brilliance snatching a winner after being outplayed.

Wilder is the man to get us promoted with the later style of play. Imo he’ll be a liability int PL. in the PL they’ll be no hiding place again playing like we are.
