Lundstram played well today

I think he struggled to impress on his first few appearances as he was coming off the bench late on to bolster the midfield while we looked to see out a win in a tight game and withstand late pressure.

Today he had a role from the start as we looked to get on the front foot and continue our good form, and he did what was required. Coutts certainly controls the game and dictates the tempo better than Lundstram did today, but Lundstram showed he is more dynamic, can get up and and down the pitch and add more defensive steel to the midfield. He’s not as good as Coutts or Fleck, but is now showing to be an able deputy for them both.

He covered for Coutts well and currently that’s all he needs to do. So no problem for me.
The part of his game that impressed me most today was his two-footedness. I was with 2 neutrals that were overall very impressed with our play today, but commented after the game they genuinely could not tell if he was left or right footed.
I thought the same about which was his stronger foot, I assumed he was right footed but he pinged a delightful diagonal out to the left wing with his left foot in the first half.

He looks a good player, a different player to Coutts, but played really well today. Like Coutts he compliments Duffy and Fleck...

Fleck deserves a thread of his own today which I am about to start...

He didn't really have a stand out game against Ipswich, he didn't play the Coutts role of playing simple conecting passes which we did miss and I'm sure Fleck missed too.
To be honest I'm not sure what he did, the game went by him alot imo, but he seems an okay player to play a rotation role in this team.

Anyone comparing him to Coutts and expecting a Couttslike performance should remember how big those boots are to fill.

He wasn't Couttslike, but he put a solid display in and he should take a lot of pride out of his performance yesterday.

I noticed two misplaced passes and he wears yellow boots. He's not won me over yet.

Won you over? It's not X factor you know, where you sit in your armchair waiting to be entertained.

In my somewhat simple view, as a 'supporter' you go to 'support' anyone in a red and white shirt. Fair enough this may change if you think they aren't good enough or don't give the required level of effort. To suggest everyone starts on trial and has to 'win you over' seems a very odd way of being a committed fan wanting the best for your club.

Every time he plays now everyone seems to be saying he’s playing well. He had a wobble in the cup games but playing along side Fleck etc and with Coutts at NTFC shows he’s more than capable and shows us why we signed him.

It'll be the same people who wrote off Coutts... and Clarke... and Freeman... and so on.

Criticism is fine, but giving it the big NGE is folly.
It took about a season before I wrote Coutts off. He was invisible for two seasons, and our manager listed him immediately. There's judging too soon, and there's s statement of fact that your performance has just been too poor. (Let's be clear those some said he had it in him and they were right, whilst I couldn't see it).

I don't think the comparisons with Lundstram are fair. Some were writing him off after a single game.
