Cannot see him being moved on unless we have a RCM lined up to add to and balance the squad.
But he is behind Fleck and Osborn.
Forest may also be under a transfer embargo which does not enable them to buy him this year but could afford the loan fee with an agreement to buy next.

I agree but I also think too much is made of specific positions and fitting in. At Prem level if you were good enough you would adapt. I will say something that might be controversial but if we played a system to fit Freeman or even Robinson, I still dont think they would be anywhere good enough. Course we dont know that but that is what I believe. If we had Freeman on a 3 wide up top and Freeman in the hole, they still dont have stand out ability, pace, dribbling, strength, aggression or dynamism for me to stand out at this level.

I think Wilder had to take some punts on players at Champ level when we went up - some have done ok to well in McBurnie and Osborn. Some have struggled to dislodge established players but also when had chances not done enough to say 'pick me.'

Its ironic though but to sign players like these now (Freeman and Robinson) you would get quoted silly prices - look at Cash (15 mill discussed) for Champ players and there is no guarantee on these.

Now we would do well to get half our money back for Robinson and Freeman. Yet if they were still in Champ and had done well last year we'd have to pay 10-15 million plus!I

I find it odd that players like Matt Doherty and Hoiberg (15 mill) can be got cheaper than say Watkins, Eze etc. These are established Prem players and it is quite odd. I know forwards can do for more but just my take on things. I thought the market would decrease but Champ players seem to be commanding silly fees even now. Whilst teams keep paying it then it becomes hard for us - that is why I am disappointed we are still not really exploring the foreign market at all. These are a punt too and have to settle in (and Covid does not help) but believe you can get more value for money in many instances.
Now,even now, very now our scouts are scouring Eastern Europe (I hope),
Apologies for the Shakespearean drift !

We need all the squad depth, and creativity we can get on our budget. He shouldn't be going anywhere unless depth and creativity are joining the club in turn.

There’s no two ways about it. If Freeman goes out on loan as long as there is no replacement the overall squad is weaker.
It takes some believing we would let him go on loan without a replacement of some kind.We are also stretched with the transfer budget and a deal to sell him would surely be the way to go.

Either way Wilder knows what he is doing so let's see where we are after whatever happens.

Kinda makes it obvious that Freeman and C.Robinson were "in case of relegation signings." Always liked what I saw of freeman but wilder knows better than any of us on here. He won't leave us in danger of having a depleted squad thats for sure. Window runs until October, plenty of time

I liked Freeman, and tbf think he could still offer something, but doubtful he'll be happy with 10-15 appearances again.

As per Wilder interview signed for a system we didn't end up playing. Ultimately its about the team and results, there's no chance we have performed stronger than we did playing a different system last year.

Whilst the loan move seems a bit strange on the face of it, I'm sure there's rationale, presumably involving Matty Cash. Also I'd absolutely stunned if we didn't have a replacement lined up, and I've every confidence any new player improves the group.

Agree...it’s a weird one letting Freeman go....he’s not played much for us but often looked decent when ever he has played.
Surely we have a more suitable replacement lined up?

Not questioning wilder obviously but I would have liked to see us use the 10 a little more when chasing games and needing a little something different to break teams down.

although it’s a plan b - seems like it would have been useful to still have in the squad - as we don’t have that option now.
McGoldrick played as the 10 behind two strikers a fair number of times, when chasing games.

We are losing an option in Freeman, but I don't recall him playing that role particularly.

Did well generally when he got a chance in the league.

Assuming we're getting 2 or 3 million loan fee plus wages paid by Forest. Naturally Wilder is signing player(s) to replace him.

Overall it's a shame, but mostly because I wanted us to sign L.Freeman since he was at Stevenage. As I believe a lot of Blades did.

I wonder if CWAK realise :

Loaning Freeman out (without'replacing' him) diminishes (@ least numerically) the squad & notwithstanding a regular pick in midfield has not (yet) left ( & with no apparent / obvious / confirmed' interest' in him)

Sheffield United are purported to be seeking to sign 2 (additional) midfielders, 1 of whom has been ascribed a similar 'creative' epithet

Forest want to / are in a position to buy him& Freeman wants to sign for them permanently (with a possible reduced salary)

The Insightful appraisal & analysis of a plethora of Blades who have (regularly / frequently) watched & Freeman in half a dozen outings for us, regular attendance @ (division two) Loftus Rd / Ashton Gate & witnessing outstanding performances for 'third division' Stevenage including as a(n unused) substitute a 4-0 'gubbing of a SUFC side containing a future most expensive defender in the world ((& alleged possible kidnap victim) AND Neil Collins (who to my knowledge has never been fearful of being abducted (regrettably)

Sheffield United finished 9th in the 'first division' last season despite Freeman rarely playing (or indeed performing) in said competition

Since signing Freeman SUFC have signed 3 midfielders (1 of whom is in direct competition to Freeman with general concencus performed well when (eventually) selected)
What line up / tactics SUFC intend to deploy/ employ next season & how successful the 'Duffy role' was in achieving promotion(s)

The advisability (& benefit) of observing professional footballers during training & reserve team games to inform management decisions (& perhaps discuss situations / circumstances with said player)

If not I feel it is incumbent

Didnt listen to Wilder's interview then?

WOW Cerberus Blade would be proud of that response!! 😉

Freeman definitely deserved more minutes last season. A player if your chasing a goal who you would chuck on for Norwood/Berge but in all honesty I don’t think we were chasing games enough because of how well we did.

The only minutes I felt he definitely should have had were 90 at Villa once Fleck was ruled out. I genuinely can’t think of any other minutes he was harshly denied. Fleck till the season was paused was undroppable, and when chasing for goals in games Wilder had whichever strikers weren’t starting that would have been pushing to be brought on.

It’s unfortunate for him individually that he didn’t get more minutes. But then we’re as a club fortunate that Fleck stayed injury and suspension free for so long.

I think you could've made a case for us trying Freeman behind two strikers when going for goals in games, rather than sticking Didsy (usually) in that role and having two strikers ahead of him. There were occasionally calls to play a number 10 in matches against teams that set their stall out against us - Newcastle at home for example - as well. I understand perhaps not starting him in those games because clearly Wilder wanted to persist with the same system, but I thought not bringing him off the bench as a 10 was unfortunate.

Really, we've not used Freeman in his preferred position once.

Expecting a big fat CONFIRMED on this today.

He would of probably had another 2-3 games as well if he wasn’t injured at the same time as fleck after the restart, but I suppose it did show us that Ozzy can do a job.

The sooner the better ... fed up with this and Swift saga .... have to look at newsnow and come up with some other names. Good Luck 😉

I am sure CWAK have given no thought at all to these points: that is why they are so unsuccessful !

Funny how we can never sell players on. Don't see the point in a season loan.
Aye
Add that to t'other failings:
Not keeping ' top' talent
Flogging said 'top' talent for way less that 'market' value
Not seeking to buy ' top' talent' (for 'top' £)
Paying 'over the odds' for 'average' players - partularly those that we previously had & sold for a pittance then got fucked over & paid 18x as much as we sold em for
(only) finishing 9th in top division on return after 12 year absence
Having too much white on jersey
Singing magnet instead of maggots
Etc etc etc

I think he is a useful player. He got 4 assists, in the limited time he had, which is as many as some regulars. But there seemed to be no role for him, even off the bench, when it would seem he would be most useful. So maybe better let him go and make space for a creative player, who better fits CWAKs plans

Not happy at this one , I feel this is CW biggest mistake while at the Lane , but I do trust him why wouldn’t anyone
