He was great today and he comes across well in interview. Very level headed and down to earth, very switched on, intelligent and actually answers questions well without resorting to clichés. Brooks interview last week was unwatchable in comparison.

100% 🫣

Just the haircut to sort out and we've got a good 'un.

Somewhat disappointing so far for me.
Bit of a one trick pony trying to always get to the byline.

Starts out like a house on fire and then fades out of the game.

I thought he was excellent against Bristol and a big part of what we got wrong today was not using him the same way. He beat his man most times today, should have used it more.

He's a promising signing. He should be the JRS type prospect signing for this season, but surrounded by experienced pros and a good spine to the side. As it stands, he's one of the only arrivals and the rest of the side is shot to shit.

Could Louie Barry play on the Right wing? He's right footed.

We could then return Hamer to the position he won Player of the Season at. That allows you to put Peck back at 8, play an actual DM (Soumare or a potential new one) to support him and O'Hare in his best role at 10.

Maybe we don't get the absolute best from Barry, but he'll be 1000% better than Cannon, and can get to the by-line to cut it back and create the type of chances Campbell and Cannon (and potentially Ings) want.

I'd like to see us switch it up during matches. There's no reason the wingers can't switch and give their opposition something different to think about.

Agree too, Barry could go down the outside and cause some chaos.

Brooks has no right foot and Barry no left
Let's switch them round
Would like to see some fluidity during games positionally

I think my biggest concern is the knock on effect of moving Hamer off the "left". I was one of those who always said he should be more central, but lets be honest, "left" basically meant "free role" - get on the ball on the inside left and make things happen. Turns our Hecky and Wilder were right and they know more about footy than your average punter.

Put Hamer back there. Have O'Hare as the lone no.10 tucked in behind Campbell to play through balls, get Peck back to 8. The knock on impact would be to put all the pieces back where they were successful last year. Barry is exciting and he seems to get into the Penalty box at will, but if we can't get the ball up there and create sustained pressure, he's not getting on the ball anyway.

Yes it’s not rocket science is it lthough this god awful manager seems to be making hard work of hit…

You're absolutely bang on about everything.

There are some top PL players (Eze) springs to mind. Everything about him screams No10. However Palace often deployed him from the left to give that free role to roam and ensure their midfielders have balance.

Sydie Peck is much better suited being a box to box no 8. He's far too dynamic to me made to sit and hold. Currently being forced to play a lone role of the 'destroyer' and 'playmaker' far too much to ask.

If my memory serves me right the use of these 'inverted wingers' was introduced by Danny Wilson in his second season. Stephen Quinn I amsure was one but I can't recall the other. It wasn't effective and I still don't understand it.

I suppose the idea is the winger is driven inside to use his stronger foot and put pressure on the full back who has to use his weaker foot.

Defending teams now just double up. We did the same against Man City at Wembley. Sander Berge doubled up with George as Jack Grealish went on the inside.

I always maintain that getting a player (winger or full back) to the bye-line is a nightmare for defenders if the strikers in the box can make the necessary movements.
(see Brewster's goal at Hillsborough)

This is a very good shout.
Allows us to get some spine and puts our creative players where they can do damage to the opposition and not (as wee are currently) to ourselves.

The other concern I have with Barry is that he looks half decent for 30 mins but then becomes a ghost. Is it fitness? Formation? Inexperience?
Attacking wise he and burrows look ok in patches but defensively 😳

Defenders hate facing their own goal and wingers getting in behind them but that never happens with inverted wingers they come inside but just run into more defenders. There is a reason Seriki can make things happen he has the ability to get in behind defenders Brooks cant do that on the right, we could always swap Brooks and Barrie to get more crosses into the box. It's not rocket science.

Yep, and we never do. You’re spot on.
