Lord Wilder

I'm not an ITK with regards any serious gossip but I do know quite a few people in football, mainly over here but quite a few in Blighty. I first heard people talking about Wilder, during his Oxford days, as a manager of ability. What he has done at Northampton and now us, has only increased the chatter. This chatter now, almost always, includes Knill. I suspect teams from 6-12 in the Premiership are watching the pair of them. If we finish in the top ten this season I fully expect some tempting offers being made to the PAIR. Whilst we are enjoying Wilder, let us not forget that the great football we play and Northampton played, was after Knill joined CW. Though CW did get v good results alone. I sincerely hope Knill isn't tempted away to be an assistant to a 'bigger' name. The two of them are the closest thing to Clough and Taylor since, well, Clough and Taylor.

Lets say, we do something nobody but us Blades thought was possible, we get promoted this season, that means Wilder has done it at every level in England.

He will only have truly "done it" at every level when we've won the Premier league title.

So we'll have to wait one more year for that. ;)

woah (that's English for stop a horse), think someone need to just calm down a little bit. Chris Wilder is going nowhere soon, besides he's way too straight talking to suit the England job. Its 10% football management 3% coaching and 87% politics. All we need to worry about is quite how big the Chris wilder statue needs to be? I'm thinking at least 30ft!

that would mean knills would have to be about 50ft

I think Wilder would do a great job with England. (At this point though, I think he'd do a great job anywhere.)

I think his biggest skill on display since he took over, is his ability to motivate players and create a team spirit, I think he has also shown great tactical adaptability to create a system that got the most from the players he had at his disposal when he joined. These are 2 attributes that would help him at international level.

I'm not sure it's what he'd want at this point and I'm not sure he's what the FA would want at this point either.

Maybe one day though, if he maintains his current trajectory he'll be in the mix at some point.
Yes, but at international level they wouldn`t be his players with their futures in his hands. (unless he picked some Blades of course)

They've just been waxing lyrical about CW on Talksport saying that his worth is currently through the roof and that he will managr soon in the Prem with ot without United! Bastards should stop attracting attention to Chrissy Wilder cos he's one of our own!
I never listen to Talk Sport. I've got it programmed as a preset in my car but had forgot it was there. (Put it there when I drove to Northampton last season as the people that were in the car with me wouldn't have liked my usual radio station choice).

On the way home tonight, for some reason I decided to press preset 6 to see what it was, and it's Talk Sport, and I flicked onto the channel literally a split second before they said his name. What was the feature about because I heard them rave about him, but didn't hear the bit before it. What were they talking about?

No of course not, that's the nature of international management - That's why I think his adaptability and resourcefulness could make him a success

It was Michel Gray saying he met him pre season and was impressed with him

Pointed out his phenomenal record and predicted he'd be in the prem either with or without us

Can't argue with anything he said and I can tell you know as a regular listener people are really starting to sit up and take notice

Normally when a side does well people point out their star players but no one ever mentions ours and there's a reason for that

We all go on a high next summer like this summer, and we're all in dreamland. But OH, ENGLAND are at the Euro's we all get excited as we do every tournament, we get knocked out in a very hard group...................

SOUTHGATE SACKED, is headlining allover the papers...

Would it be unreasonable to rule out the one and only Chris Wilder for being England manager?
IF, and it is a massive realistic IF, he gets us promoted this season, he should be rewarded with the Kop being named after him and a statue in the car park. Back to back promotions, with limited investment, would be an unbelievable, football manager esque achievement.

If we finish top 10 and don't get promoted, I would be delighted.

If we avoid the drop I will still be delighted.

A proper manager, a proper fan, managing a proper club with proper support. He would do the England job alongside the Blades Champions League push.

One thing is for sure, if it ever happened, Wilder would pick players to suit a system. He would not pick players because they play for Liverpool, Man U etc. cost £50M or were 'celebrities'. Which is why he is doing so well with us by buying on attributes not name

He'd have to add 15 tick boxes to his check list to let any current England player tick just one.

It's all hypothetical of course, but I could see him picking several lower end Premier/Championship players if it ever happened. Those that want it rather than those that have it and all that

Let's be realistic, It's summer 2018; United and Leeds are up automatically and Cardiff join them after an injury time sickener against the pigs at Wembley.

After Gareth's unfortunate revelation, his last minute replacement, Neil Warnock, has guided England to an improbable World Cup final.

Throwing on the boy wonder Brooks with 5 minutes to go, his exquisite through ball has allowed emergency centre forward Maguire to level.

It's now a penalty shot out and the Germans have missed their sixth. Up steps Kyle Walker to blast the ball home.

What if the moon were made of cheese or the Kebab a real beast that roams the wilds of northern Scotland. Just why would you even make all these leaps of faith unless you wanted yet another tedious look at me OP?

For me Wilder is getting towards that legendary status that he can do whatever he wants.
As long as he's happy then I'm happy.

We are lucky that he's not sexy, he talks in a broad Sheffield accent and has a straight talking non PC manner.

Like when Brian Clough was in his prime I can't see the FA ever being interested.
Also I can't see any much bigger clubs than us ever being interested in appointing him.

Warnock had a better reputation and has far more promotions but even he snuggled to interest even lower ranked PL clubs.

Warnock is a self interested gobshite with no class. Wilder is the polar opposite. England would have never thought about him because all we would hear is how William has a New England shirt and all referees are biased. It is almost impossible for me to care less about our national team than I currently do but Warnick in charge of it would possibly get me there.

Warnock was still in charge at Cardiff to celebrate/gloat after the playoff final, right?

Of course, Southgate's payment from the Scottish FA becomes public the following Monday. Warnock has already been sacked in a row over his contract.

Wilder stays under the radar until our third Champions League triumph in a row forces the FA to take notice.

Hmmm, maybe not such a great idea...

Can't remember who was in charge the last time we won the world cup and how much first division football experience he had....

Sir Alf of course and he had two seasons managing Ipswich in the top flight. He did manage a title win in the first of those seasons though....

You mean the Kebab isn't a real beast? I thought they were an odd shape for an animal :)

If Wilder takes us up again and then wins the premiership in his first season, I recon I'd find it in me to forgive him leaving us for the England job.

He won't get it Luke, even though I 100% think he would deserve the chance.

For this to come about, there would have to be massive changes at the FA, it's full of old farts who love a yes man, it has always been thus and for me, is the reason Brian Clough didn't get the job.

How likely are these changes to happen? About as likely as me switching to fucking Quorn and Tofu. No chance mate.

In the same fantasy land that we've won the Premier League title, those changes will have happened! :)

You should have seen what we won in my mind the time I hit the Disaranno like a fucking train #blades3martians0 :)

My biggest fear is that someone will offer to make wilder a multi millionaire overnight.

Everyone has a price....if he keeps going, someone will, sooner or later.

He's a man of integrity though, and who knows how far he can go. Still untested above our level right now.

It's going to be fun finding out how far he can take it, with all our full support, just a shame that unless he really can deliver the seemingly impossible, at some point, it will all end in tears.

For me, the only jobs he would take in England are as follows:

Man U
Man C
Chelsea
Spurs
Arsenal
Liverpool
Everton
England

Until any of those come knocking, we're ok.

Wilder' birthday on the 23rd...guess he'll be waiting till the Sunday to open his present.

UTB!
