Lets say, we do something nobody but us Blades thought was possible, we get promoted this season, that means Wilder has done it at every level in England.

We all go on a high next summer like this summer, and we're all in dreamland. But OH, ENGLAND are at the Euro's we all get excited as we do every tournament, we get knocked out in a very hard group...................

SOUTHGATE SACKED, is headlining allover the papers...

Would it be unreasonable to rule out the one and only Chris Wilder for being England manager?

woah (that's English for stop a horse), think someone need to just calm down a little bit. Chris Wilder is going nowhere soon, besides he's way too straight talking to suit the England job. Its 10% football management 3% coaching and 87% politics. All we need to worry about is quite how big the Chris wilder statue needs to be? I'm thinking at least 30ft!

Not saying he shouldn't get it, but here's why he won't. The FA want, need and desire a yes man. CW is no more a yes man than I am a spokesman for Haircare Products.

Even with a Blades bias, I have the strongest doubts over Wilder being considered for the England job.

Firstly, the FA aren't known for their imaginative selection, unless you happen to be an Italian with a reputation at club level. They passed on someone like Brian Clough, so why would they consider Chris Wilder who hasn't managed at the top tier of English football? It's a pointless conversation, unless you have a thing for circular chats that go nowhere fast.

I'm a happy clapper, always look on the bright-side me. I said some time ago we would do well, and surprise a lot of people. I'm not sure we can keep this up but I still see us in the play offs. We have a long way to go, but could you imagine at the beginning of last season we would be in this position? The longer the run keeps going the more I think we will hit a sticky patch. I hope and pray it's after we stuff the pigs. :)

We are unlikely to get promoted, Southgate is very unlikely to get the tin tack and it would still be almost unthinkable that they would appoint Wilder who won't have managed at the top level if those first 2 things occured.

However to say there is no way he would leave us to take the job is horseshit. Not that it matters due to the above.

Managing England would be a hiding to nothing. Expectation is set far above the levels of ability of the team and you basically get to manage a set of pampered, whiny babies who have been told from a young age that they are the best thing since sliced bread.

The only upside would be the payout when you get sacked half way through your contract for not winning the World Cup even though Fatty Samuels convinces his moronic readers that you should have done, you'll then get a job managing a team somewhere in England or mainland Europe where you'll also fail and pick up another pay off..... ad infinitum.

It's not Wilders bag pal.

Stop it! No way! Anyone saying he wouldn't take it mind you could be underplaying the importance of the England job, I would think every Englishman in league management see it as the pinnacle, the chance would not come along very often and he would probably be offered a job in league football afterwards, just the timing of it, now leave it out and talk about something else before the FA hear about it

Just to record that I don't think we've got near to the standard of play that we achieved last season yet - & that includes the Derby game.

We are up against better opposition of course so we can't possibly be as dominant as we were BUT, we are 3rd and we've got something left in the tank.

Last years fluency (as it did last year), will take a little time to achieve as indeed it does within matches.

But given a fair wind ......

For me Wilder is getting towards that legendary status that he can do whatever he wants.
As long as he's happy then I'm happy.

We are lucky that he's not sexy, he talks in a broad Sheffield accent and has a straight talking non PC manner.

Like when Brian Clough was in his prime I can't see the FA ever being interested.
Also I can't see any much bigger clubs than us ever being interested in appointing him.

Warnock had a better reputation and has far more promotions but even he snuggled to interest even lower ranked PL clubs.

Totally agree, we haven't clicked yet and are still very much a work in progress up front.
We are winning because our defence has been surprisingly solid and we know how to grind out victories.
I'm very confident we will improve.

....look I've heard some slurs against Warnock but never this!

(and as for 'broad' Sheffieldish, may be wide is a better description as his accent does take in a bit of Hampshire or somewhere on the way round ;))

I don't see why Wilder should ever lower himself by taking up a job with the footballing wing of the morally and quite possibly institutionally corrupt FA.

Fuck Engerland, I take great pleasure from their failures quite frankly.

I think Wilder would do a great job with England. (At this point though, I think he'd do a great job anywhere.)

I think his biggest skill on display since he took over, is his ability to motivate players and create a team spirit, I think he has also shown great tactical adaptability to create a system that got the most from the players he had at his disposal when he joined. These are 2 attributes that would help him at international level.

I'm not sure it's what he'd want at this point and I'm not sure he's what the FA would want at this point either.

Maybe one day though, if he maintains his current trajectory he'll be in the mix at some point.

On the plus side we wouldn't see the likes of pricks like Dele Alli ,Jordan fucking Henderson or Phil Jones anymore.

They've just been waxing lyrical about CW on Talksport saying that his worth is currently through the roof and that he will managr soon in the Prem with ot without United! Bastards should stop attracting attention to Chrissy Wilder cos he's one of our own!

Would anyone take him taking us to the Prem, managing for a couple of seasons and winning a trophy with us before leaving for England and winning the World Cup and Euros consecutively? Let's say we get a new manager who's alright and we Everton around in the top flight for the next 25 years...

Fourty steps at a time eh...

Without getting in front of myself you just feel something special is happening, these special times for any club over the years has to start somewhere, why not now? that said I still brush it off when I start thinking about it, nah, cant happen, can it?

My biggest fear is that someone will offer to make wilder a multi millionaire overnight.

Everyone has a price....if he keeps going, someone will, sooner or later.

He's a man of integrity though, and who knows how far he can go. Still untested above our level right now.

It's going to be fun finding out how far he can take it, with all our full support, just a shame that unless he really can deliver the seemingly impossible, at some point, it will all end in tears.

Does acupuncture cure pins and needles? If a donkey had three legs would it become a wonkey? If a ......oh fuck it, i've had enough!

I don't really understand why some people are so eager to bring this up, as if they would be happier watching Wilder be successful wih another team, or as if the England job is the peak of the game.

Fuck that. I want him and us as a club to go on and get promoted/win the prem/champions league/world club trophy together. Not saying this is going to happen, but nothing wrong with having some ambition.
