Seconded. Not greatly experienced as you say but he'd be one worth risking it over.

Adam smith made more mistakes than Long last year. Think I put a video on of his Dagenham gaf. No issue with replacing anyone with better players, but there is a budget and you need viable alternatives. Smith is the same age and only played 1 game at this level, nevermind his exploits in the far east with Leicester and Pearson's son.

I'm not a fan of Long as some in here know, but he was totally blameless for the goal today. He was beaten by a good shot bang in the right position, any blame should be directed at the defenders who were slow to attack the ball and gave their guy too long to pick his spot (IMO).

While I disagree with many of the opinions regarding George. I can't help but feel he isn't confident enough, can't command his defence and does ultimately flap like a chicken seeing colonel Saunders. He needs some form of competition. He's sat high in the clouds knowing there's nobody else threatening his position. And it needs to change, if I'm honest, I'm surprised wilder hasn't addressed this already. And I'm sure he will do now. Can't all be blamed on George though. May have helped the cause if our strike force could hit a barn door from a metre away.

If this bile of which you speak was being hurled at him at games I would agree with you but it isn`t.
This is a forum for opinions to be expressed and like it or not unless someone is a plantpot those opinions won`t always blow smoke up a players arse because he plays for our club.
Opinion is clearly divided on here as to whether Long is or is not good enough to be the first choice keeper for a supposedly promotion chasing club.
That`s fine,that`s the point of arguing these issues. As previously stated it`s not personal. I`m sure Long is a great guy and he`s one of our own etc. However,in my book that counts for diddly squat where the best needs of the team are concerned.

interesting, cos listening to it on RS sounded like Hussey had a decent game, just goes to show you need to be at a game to have an opinion worth discussing. As I wasn't there have refrained on any actual judgements, doesn't stop a lot of em though.

The priority list of signings should be:

1. A decent partner for Fleck in midfield
2. A winger to play on the opposite side to Duffy
3. A first choice right-sided centre-half, to allow the seemingly competent Wilson to be decent back-up
4. A decent experienced keeper that isn't physically or mentally frail

In that order. Number 4 is not as much of a priority as any of numbers 1-3.

As much as I don't think it was Long's fault for the goal, it's probably worth playing Ramsdale on Tuesday, if anything to show Long that there is competition for his shirt.
