Wilder seemed to be alluding to Hamer not being fully fit in the presser, the suggestion being that when he is he'll be more effective.

Every time he touches the ball you can tell he's miles better than everyone else. Tom Davies is the only one that looks to be on a similar level of technical ability. He's still our best attacking player by an absolute country mile. His vision and ability to create a chance for himself or others being so far ahead of anything else means it stands out even more when he has a below par run and nobody else is capable of stepping up
I think Tuesday was Davies best start for United. I think he's been functional as a starter, really effective as a sub before that.Every time he touches the ball you can tell he's miles better than everyone else. Tom Davies is the only one that looks to be on a similar level of technical ability.
I don't know how many games they've played together, but if they can click together they can literally drag this team up by themselves.
Nothing epitomised this more than Tuesday night when despite his best efforts, the Southampton defence pressed him into submissions and didn't let him rest. He simply didn't have the athletic ability to compete with their bigger, faster, fitter defenders.Too many fry ups
Too fat and small to be a elite player.
As in the post above he's a luxury player and we are in the trenches right now.
When you have no other attacking threats or effective ways to fashion chances through patterns of play/tactics then the opposition are going to over commit to taking your best player out of the game. If your too formulaic in attack that you still need them to do everything for you, they need to be at peak fitness. Plenty of blame to go round but I strongly disagree with any plan that takes him off the pitch, or Campbell. We just need to workhorse at getting them on the ball where they can cause damage. How we've let him (and Campbell) get so out of shape is a disgrace.
Fundamentally you're correct. However, I'd suggest both Hamer and Campbell need to get themselves in much better physical condition too. When you have no other attacking threats or effective ways to fashion chances through patterns of play/tactics then the opposition are going to over commit to taking your best player out of the game. If Campbell is our only striker who's fit for purpose(and he is), losing him at 60mins every game because he's blowing out of his fat arse, isn't sustainable.
I guess you are too young to have seen Diago MaradonaToo many fry ups

If you are comparing championship players to all time greats you aren't being realistic.I guess you are too young to have seen Diago Maradona
Davies, for this level, looks like he could be a good ball carrier. He gets his head up and looks to run with it a fair bit. It just isn't an option to use anywhere near enough.I think Tuesday was Davies best start for United. I think he's been functional as a starter, really effective as a sub before that.
But he's brave in possession, in a team full of 'cowards' (I do think alot of that over caution comes from a game plan. Peck was almost cavalier in possession when he first got into the team). We desperately need that otherwise our only player attempting an incisive pass from deeper is Burrows
Im comparing his stature....If you are comparing championship players to all time greats you aren't being realistic.
One small and fat success out of hundreds of failures shows you are searching for a needle in a haystack type player...Im comparing his stature....
You said he's too small and fat to be elite ..
Im showing you that you are talking rubbish
Why play him then?Wilder seemed to be alluding to Hamer not being fully fit in the presser, the suggestion being that when he is he'll be more effective.
New Year moving sickness. An alarming loss of form by Gus. Maybe he wanted to be off in the recent transfer window.
Needs to up his game or no-one will want him in the next window.
