Livermore red card harsh say BBC

It's the type of challenge they seem to be trying to outlaw.
I haven't seen a video replay but like Lundstram (the other year) maybe Livermore did win the ball.

In the past, as long as you win the ball, a player could challenge as hard as they wanted, they could follow through and take the player with them
but this isn't allowed anymore. If he did win the ball then you can understand why Bruce think it was harsh. In his playing days it would be allowed with Roy Keane and from an earlier time, Graeme Sounes doing these tackles all the time.

But times have changed....in todays culture (thankfully) overly aggressive challenges (even when winning the ball) aren't allowed.

A dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle
If a player is about to head a ball and somebody takes a running kung fu kick at it, it doesn't matter whether he is first to the ball or not, and even if he makes no contact with the player at all, he could still be sent off for it.

The match report also says there was an element of luck about our first goal. Yes, such a lucky through ball by McGoldrick straight into his intended target, such a lucky excellent control and turn by Sharp, such a lucky deflection off the keeper and into the net when it was on target in the first place. Complete bollocks.

There was an element of fortune as I think Johnston seemed to have it covered but the build up was excellent and when we played like that they had no answer really

Deserved everything he / they got.
Already getting radgy, orchestrated by the theatrical & histrionic cabbage & his stooges - didn’t heed the ‘warning’ to calm down when Mowatt (correctly) went in the book a couple of mins afore
Off you pop, cock

I wonder what Brucies reaction would have been if it was the other way round, and one of our lads clattered his player like that !!

BBC guy doing live reports on 5 Live said it was an awful challenge,no problem with the decision.

Don't think it was that bad a tackle tbh, not seen it again though.

Not seen a replay of it so can only go on real time and I called red straight off. But as I say, no replay to judge it on.

The general rule that ref's will follow is if they feel a player is not in control when making a challenge it's a Red card.

Replay of the incident is in the highlights package. For me seeing it at full speed and again as it shows there is no defence

With Sky reporter say "Albion's task was made even trickier moments later when Livermore was dismissed after scything down Hourihane 10 yards inside the home half... " not a harsh decision of anything mentioned

This is the best angle to settle this one according to grand master cabbage he got the ball from his view. The ball is visable and the start of the lunge

You can see the ball makes it original path and the continuation of the lunge

And the final how he ends up. Its an ankle snapper challenge. 2nd red of the season so will be a 4 match min if not overturned

They’re appealing. Mind blowing.
5 game ban for him then 3 for the red 1 for being sent off earlier in the year and 1 for the appeal. Completely redundant decision he’s out of control, off the floor and even if he does get a bit of the ball (unclear from the replays) he gets all of hourihane both his kicking and standing leg it was a shocker

I had a look at that tweet from WBA. It’s followed by hundreds of replies from Albion fans saying, “Straight Red.” “Straight Red.” “Straight Red.”
Most of them also add, “Hope his ban is extended … to the end of the season”. Think they’ve gone off Livermore this season.

A bit of bias from their fans though, I think they just want him out of the team. 😂
