Livermore red card harsh say BBC

It's the type of challenge they seem to be trying to outlaw.
I haven't seen a video replay but like Lundstram (the other year) maybe Livermore did win the ball.

In the past, as long as you win the ball, a player could challenge as hard as they wanted, they could follow through and take the player with them
but this isn't allowed anymore. If he did win the ball then you can understand why Bruce think it was harsh. In his playing days it would be allowed with Roy Keane and from an earlier time, Graeme Sounes doing these tackles all the time.

But times have changed....in todays culture (thankfully) overly aggressive challenges (even when winning the ball) aren't allowed.

A dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle
If a player is about to head a ball and somebody takes a running kung fu kick at it, it doesn't matter whether he is first to the ball or not, and even if he makes no contact with the player at all, he could still be sent off for it.

There was an element of fortune as I think Johnston seemed to have it covered but the build up was excellent and when we played like that they had no answer really
