My goodness, I hope the players and Chris aren't reading any of these threads.
Don't you trust Chris and the players? Haven't you learnt anything from the last 2 campaigns? This is the first manager where I've felt that he won't let us down. He won't play random players that haven't played in a while. He won't leave out a vital player because he's fallen out with them.
We have a TEAM of players. We have a fantastic management TEAM. We have no 'star' player, no managers favourites, we have a team of players who play for one another and their management team.
Please, let's have faith....and let's show how we can all be a team of supporters on Saturday and be united in getting our team back in the Premiership.

We don’t always achieve the result, sometimes even lose BUT
our performances and effort shown is always consistently good.

In the past 3 seasons (137 matches) you can count in ONE hand the number of poor performances (like Hull away last season).
I’ve never ever known that level of consistency in my 40+ years watching us.

I think back to the 80’s when we were great one week winning 5-0, then we’d be terrible the week after losing 3-0.
Under Wilder entertainment and 100% effort is guaranteed, I’ve never known anything like it.

I don't get why some seem to blindly think this can't go wrong because even if we fuck up we've got a better goal difference, we are not that far ahead and goal difference will probably not even come into it.
Lose to Ipswich and Leeds scrape a lucky, dodgy or even deserved miniscule 1-0 win and suddenly we are level on points and will more than likely need to win at Stoke. Which won't be easy.

Win on Saturday and I think it's all over, but I won't be going overboard with the mouth until Ipswich have been beaten

I'm so fucking nervous. But I feel...believe...we will win on saturday purely for the reasons expressed above. Still nervous though.

A full house should be worth at least one goal. Just hope it sounds like there are 30 odd thousand of us in the ground for the whole 90 minutes.

As ever, UTB

You really don't have much faith in our team do you?
Which aspects of the last 3 seasons are draining your confidence ?
Do you understand the opening post?

Are we all over-confident now, or under-confident? I’m confused.
Both and neither all at the same time I think.

Part of being a Blade - every time we get confident we feel guilty that we’re cursing them and get under confident at which time we curse ourselves for lack of belief. So is the crazy world of Bramall Lane

Remain confused save you some cash getting drunk as I know I'm confused when drunk, so every cloud as they say. I'm old and don't bother about owt any more gives me confidence. Have faith it's a special season, enjoy, Blades are on the up and if it comes to nothing what a ride we've all had, then we go again. UTB.

8 times out of 10 we would win, 1 draw and 1 defeat so the odds according to er, me says we will probably win,so just relax with odds like that what can go wrong?

Perspective needed.

Yes, of course we should win. Our form and performances on the whole this season say so. However, nobody expected us to capitulate against Millwall or Brizzle very recently, but we did, so we have to be wary of Ipswich.

We have an amazing opportunity ahead of us and I fully expect us to grasp it but there's nothing wrong with some people being cautious. We are no longer a "well if any team can fuck this up, we can" club but if we're not on it Saturday, we risk blowing it. CW and AK will have the squad well prepared as usual so I'm confident but not taking anything for granted yet.

I think the big difference is that both Bristol and Millwall had something to play for. Ipswich have only personal pride left. It won't be a walk in the park for us but I think we will be properly prepared and if we can do our bit to roar them on, then we should be ok.

Ahhh here we go
What does exercising caution and having no confidence got to do with each other.

I agree with everything in the original post, but we're not invincible. Ipswich can win, Leeds can win.

It's just one game where anything could happen, bad decisions, bad luck, hit the post 16 times, have a man sent off unfairly, have three good penalty claims waved away, anything can happen. And the same goes for the Leeds game.

I haven't said I don't think we'll win, I do think we'll win. But until we do, I'm saying now't

Don't get me wrong, something feels different this time. CW is different from the managers of the past. He means business, he makes sure we play our way without concentrating or trying to stop the opposition (like warnock did) with negative tactics. With CW we play our way, something I have never really seen from Utd in my life (I'm 32). The only other team that played fluently and positively was Spackmans team before that dreaded day when Deane and Fjortoft were sold. Even when successful, the style of football and management/tactics concentrated on the opposition, if that makes sense. For me that's why we've never won or even scored in a playoff final.
With all that said, even with as much faith in this team and CW that I have, I cant help but reign it in and see it when I believe it. I'm scarred. In my entire life watching the blades we have lost every single "pinnacle" game. Relegated from prem on last day when it seemed impossible in early 90's, losing to Newcastle at old Trafford in FA Cup semi final, losing to Palace in play off final, losing to liverpool in league Cup semi, losing to arsenal at old Trafford (Graham poll, David seaman) FA Cup semi, losing to wolves at millennium stadium play off final, losing to Burnley playoff final, losing to Huddersfield playoff final, throwing away a point advantage over the pigs and them going up instead of us, losing to Hull FA Cup semi and relegated last game of prem season after tevez gate(not in cronilogical order).
My entire life supporting Utd has been plagued with huge disappointments. I mean... I've been to every playoff final and not even seen us score a goal other than in a failed penalty shoot out.
My point is, it feels different this time but I'm scarred from my entire life experience watching the red and white wizards. We always, as a fanbase, get ahead of ourselves and over confident and then get that Horrific come down and punch in the stomach.
I can't help but contain my emotions until we've got there. I don't want to feel that level level of disappointment again where I've been too confident so I just can't let myself believe it's happening until it happens.
Like I said, this time feels different. Wilder is a different animal and leader to anything we've had in the past and I think that we will do it. But, my scarred past, as a blade, is telling me that "it's Utd they always fall at the last hurdle, they always let me down, something always happens to eff it all up!".
Jesus, I'm fighting a Horrific internal battle of emotions! Just don't get carried away and think it's won. Ipswich have no pressure unlike us. (my dad was telling me about Utd getting relegated, back in the day (80's? ), with loads of games to go and going on a crazy run afterwards where they won something like 6 of the last 7). It won't be a walkover. Don't build yourself up to get let down again!

Wow, the emotions you go through supporting this football club.

One thing is for sure, I f**king live this club and that will never change.

UTB and bring on the Premier League (hopefully).

Anyone who saw us beat Brentford with 10 men should know its different this time, the fight and commitment shown that night convinced me we have a special group of players and management team.

We could still fuck it up though, dont forget about the gypsy's curse,is it a fairy tale or did McCabe really tell the Gypsy to shove her pegs up her arse.

You’ve said quite a lot already! :)

I’m very confident we’ll go up in automatic. I still think we can finish as Champions. I thought we’d blown it after the Millwall game. But that was because I fully expected Leeds and Norwich to carry on winning. They haven’t and we have! It could turn round again in one match but the chances of that happening are far slimmer than the chance that we’ll put it beyond doubt with a win on Saturday. So, great anticipation is my feeling.

I don’t believe in jinxes and I don’t think it’s being over-confident to feel excited about it. It’s just fantastic to be in this position. I’m loving every minute of it and even if we don’t win on Saturday I still think, with 2 games remaining, we will do it.

That’s down to belief in this manager and group of players. Like someone else already said, I can’t recall a United team in the past 40 years that has been so consistent and reliable.

Billy will be back too! He will lead us to the promised land. Believe!
