Wont Leon be on about 20kpw? I highly doubt Rotherham could afford that? and surely the big man wouldn't want to drop down to League 1? but you never know.
Dont think he has an option unless he's happy to not play football until January.

Rovvrum could be a good move for Leon, he owes us nothing didn't like him when he joined, loved by the end always gave his best.

Still just under four hours to go in Scotland.

Kilmarnock are desperate for a striker.

He's signed for £20k per week to lay on the sofa watching Netflix.

Unless there are rules against it, why not give him a squad number and get him playing in the Cup games?

Guy's done nothing wrong and whilst 6th choice striker isn't a must have, there's no saying that with one or two injuries we couldn't find a spot on the bench for him between now and Jan 1st. It's not so long back he was keeping Billy out.

I don't blame him not wanting to drop to League One. It's only 15 months back he ended the Championship season with 19 goals and was useful for Wigan last year as well as scoring a few useful goals for ourselves, Brentford away and the clincher vs Derby at home to name two.

Make him reserve team captain. I don't see any experience in the U23s so do right by him and keep him match sharp and let him pass on his knowledge to the younger lads. They'll need it, especially when the older younger ones are already out on loan like Smith et al.

No reason why he needs to feel unappreciated or hanging around like a spare part. I'm sure those teams needing a boost in Jan will take a punt.

Leon was never going anywhere IMO and to be honest I can see him waiting to be released at the end of the season.

We look at it from having a love for our club, but realistically only a handful of players in football would genuinely say they love the club they play for.

It’s a job to most and for Leon he’s possibly on the best money of his career which is not far from ending. He’s probably retired in his head.

He might pop up next year on a reasonable contract in L2 or the Conference near the West Midlands.

The good thing from our point of view (I think) is that all the ‘hangers on’ are out of contract this season, so it’s not going to harm us too much with the income we’ve got this year.

I believe the squad registration deadline, which has passed, only applies to the Premier League, so Clarke can play in the domestic cup competitions should we wish to play him in those between now and January.

I would assume Clarke and co were hoping the club would pay up there contracts ,United not played ball.Carutthers gone with a pay off with Cambridge paying him a wage the settlement would have been negotiated .Cant believe he has got a big pay off. He's mid twenties so trying to build his career again,
Clarke and co are at the end so the wages there on is a bonus and not to give up lightly.
Sure United would like to see em out on loan most they can get now is none league good for clubs like Chesterfield ?

To be fair to Clarke, if United offered him a bumper contract, then that's on them. Clarkes in his mid thirties now and is probably thinking that it might be better for his family if he sat it out, saved the money and then looked at what was out there next season.

Ah we can afford it
Couple of injuries and he might be playing l/c/b

When he was offered a 3 year deal at the time most fans thought that was a year too long.

But lets be right. If you were about to retire from a high paying job you'd bleed every pound you could from it.

Totally agree......Clarke had been a revelation for us.....
We were protecting our asset by giving Clarke a new improved deal.

He’s near the end of his career, so like 99% of people he’s not going to volunteer for a pay cut.
If he was younger then i’d hope he[d have more incentive to take a small cut in order to play football to resurrect his career.

Is it even possible for Leon to play in the cup? or for the team at all for that matter? god forbid billy's legs fall off, mcburnie's head gets hit by a low flying aircraft, lys gets kicked out after brexit and robbo gets sued by pot noodle we might just need him.

And I've just seen a whole thread about it elsewhere...

Wonder why they felt the need to put the middle names on? I see they haven't put Christopher Jesus Allah Buddha Vishnu Zeus Wilder on though.
